Pai has some mean throws. The ones that I can think of that make the opponent stumble, but not go down is:

[3][P]+[G]
[6][4][P]+[G]
[6][2][P]+[G]
[4][2][P]+[G] (I think)
and [4][6][P]+[K]+[G]

She's really kewl this time around. Counter hit with [P]+[K] guranatees a low throw as well. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

I'm still hopeful that this is the player's fault rather than a
typical example of Lau play...is it just unavoidable that in order to win
you have to play Lau in the most boring, repetitive, and conservative manner?
I may be confusing "boring" with "good guarding and manuevering";
if I play Lau, I'm probably trying to get the opp. in the air
rather than elbow poking and throwing all match. I'd think the effective
Lau is the floating Lau, which is where Lau becomes least
boring. Anyhow, I'm hoping the EVO Lau is less dummy-friendly, so
I won't feel like such a lowbrow in whipping him out.

woi ...
f,b+P+G used to be her DDT, is it a stumble throw now?
f,d+P+G is new, and df+P+G is still the old [9][K][K] setup. b,d+P+G is indeed her stumble throw. b,f+P+K+G, is that new? or did you mean her f+P+K+G? If b,f+PKG is new, that'd be rad.

Lau's good moves are too good to ignore, but other clips show lots of use of the new slam 3-hit...the funky looking lunging knife thing... and the back turned P+K. This time, this lau just felt like kicking ass, shrug. It's hard to justify throwing out, I dunno, b+P [K] or something, when you have the kickass elbow of death.

Anyway, I guess my point is when people want to win, they use less and less interesting/risky/fun moves. Akira, jacky, and jeffry can certainly be played in a boring way.

Maybe the lau didn't know he was being filmed /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

Unfortunately, a lot of Lau's do that, as his boring moves seem to be the most damaging. Funnily enough, me and another friend of mine who's main character is Lau had the 8-dan battle royale last night - I used Shun.

We both started off with 0, and I think we must've played 20 times or so. I finished at 9-dan, him at 7-dan. The thing is, I knew what he was going for most of the time. Jacknife, the PPPK. Or the [9][K][P][P][P][P][P][P][P][P][4][K]. Did get a bit old, but I won. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif
Back on the old VF.NET, when they had the feedback, he actually had like 75-80 "ONe Pattern" feedbacks for his Lau.

Re: Pai:
[4][6][P]+[K]+[G] is new -- it does some damage, and causes a stumble.

Pretty sure that [6][4][P]+[G] has been changed. I'm just now learning here though. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

lol@the feedbacks, you said old vf.net... so you cannot do this anymore?
I like the idea a lot.

Well, I can't seem to work with Lau in ver C, as he really is paint-peeling boring as hell. I mean, nothing about playing the powerhouses of this game is interesting to me, and even if I play a little Lau I grow weary of it quickly and long to be playing Aoi or Lei, who despite their difficulty are easier for me to play. Really, when you play Lau, there's not much thinking going on, mostly reaction and some ring position stradegy. He's fast food, though, and (I haven't really played any Jacky, as I can't enter that mentality) you don't want to think about what Lau has to work with, because it ain't much. You're drawn to the promise of winning with Lau, a better shot at winning (if you're a rook), until you realize you'll be just like that Lau in the movie clips above, and then you go for the character depth in the "low-use" bunch.

No, the feedback thing is gone, unfortunately.
The guy really got off on it -- he loved getting "One Pattern" feedbacks. Even his PR Line (the line of text at the bottom of the screen before the fight) said, "Here comes the one pattern! Hiya---!"

This is probably the first Brad movie. Here.

Don't know if it works or not.

Just in case, use the link and clip the last clip, on that page clip on the button and another link will show.

Enjoy

I've got direct links for every clip, even ones that bring you the rizm.net "this file is not available" page. God, I'm just rad /versus/images/icons/smirk.gif

The bad news is that only three of the links can be saved normally.... the rest are a pain in the ass. The first link is an MMS:// link, which can be sabed in STREAMBOX ONLY (well, asfrecorder probably works). If you don't have streambox, or if you're on a mac, you will need to stream the file. If you stream it, you MIGHT be allowed to save it when you're done (click file --> save as). But often you're not allowed to.

mms://211.14.146.152/SS/2152/satokennvsmonzet.wmv
---------------------------
These next files should save ok with right click and save. The first two don't support download acceleration or resuming.

http://www.rizm.net/userdata/2152/kenvsNichan.wmv
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, three of the links cannot be pasted correctly on VFDC because the filename has japanese characters. These characters show up on us browsers as strange symbols. These symbols won't paste correctly on VFDC either, but they will paste into a download accelerator without any problems.

One of the three files is downloadable without streambox, I mirrored it here.

The other two are ASFRECORDER only. It does the same job as streambox but it can handle some weirdness streambox cannot, apparently. Plug the following pair of urls into asf recorder. You will be prompted to save jingle.wmv FIRST, then the actual movie you want SECOND.

http://www.rizm.net/UserData/2152/2152_5397.asx

You can see the true mms:// links with strange characters here.

update: the very last link comes up as not found no matter what you do.
Thankfully that ISN'T the one with brad. It was BEL (a kage) vs. someone, from the filename.

Well, I guess I was vaguely commenting on the videos...I was just running on, torn by my private love/hate affair with Lau and a desire to be just like him when I grow up. I'm already considering killing my family and disappearing to become like unto a tiger.

The top one is new, comes from http://www.freechal.com/pailove/

======
Quick update on the second link, it is indeed pai love. One clip is a good single match, and the second clip is SEVERAL good matches showing a lot of pai's spanky evo moves and trickery.
From the df+P it looks like that sudden lunging knee staggers crouchers and floats on normal hits. She also has a standard sweep and and her old charge-able reverse crescent, which gives pai some pretty good high/mid/low guessing games from df+P.
All the matches were against a lau who pheared pai's power.

Thanks. But, where is it? I don't see it.

I don't think anyone has mentioned yet that fantasy has a bunch of new clips. Including chibita. (no sarah, adio) http://www.aka.ne.jp/~fantasy/

Brad actually looks pretty fun to play! I didn't think he seemed very cool, but I think I was wrong...

Whether he's fun to play or not, can anyone else get over the fact that he's Italian and has a totally American name?
