    I was thinking along the same lines. The low punch in that clip definitely didn't seem like a mistake. The Kage player was slightly late with his throw attempt(although it's hard to tell), and was MC'ed by a LP as a result. This is what initially led me to believe that Goh's shrm was uncounterable.

    /versus/images/icons/shocked.gif I was starting to think I’d never see many Wolf players as awesome as Segaru, but IMO Daiginga is pretty close. They say Wolf is weaker in Evo, but this guy uses him with a lot of confidence. It doesn't hurt to have OhsuAkira and Yoro as part of your 3-man team either. /versus/images/icons/cool.gif

    Barely throw counterable or not, it's throw counterable. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif That low punch is by no means guaranteed.

    And IMF, agreed, these are high level players and,yes, they use advanced OS very well. However, my point was that they don't always use OS, and they don't use it perfectly. Review many Mukki videos in which a throw counterable move is blocked (DbPm, Shrm, etc) and you'll see Mukki be thrown immediately with a P-throw. Had he really been using E-DTEG he would've dodged the punch. All i'm getting at is that OS is useful, and extremely difficult to use effectively and on instinct. Footage of the very best Japanese players is proof of that. As much as I wish I could be a good user of OS, I know that I have a hard time using it instinctively in the heat of battle - and I know that I have better hands than most VFers in NA. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

    Dbpm and Shrm are punch counterable in Ver. C and Evo, so E-DTEG won't avoid the punch if the opponent reacts fast enough. But enough about that, I agree with your point about E-DTEG'ing on reaction. I have a hard time being consistent with that myself. I also think that in high level matches, the guessing game can become extremely complex when it doesn't need to be. E-DTEG is <font color="yellow">so</font color> easy to punish if you anticipate it and counter with either a delayed strike or throw. That's why it's funny that something as simple as low punch (after a barely throw counterable move) can be effective every once in a while. This game is so complex, but yet so simple at the same time. /versus/images/icons/cool.gif


    Mr. Noisy: Daiginga is 77%. I thought Bun Bun was around 55 - 60% in Evo the last time I checked. The ring names look different, so I'm not sure.

    Looks like a new trailer of some sort for ps2 evo, not a whole lot of new stuff, but it does show some items I've never seen before (Jeffry's hair?), plus a peek at the new quest mode, as well as some of the new training mode options.

    Something similar has been mentioned before. That's the same trailer shown at the press conference for the official PS2 announcement a while ago. This one's better quality than the one previously mentioned though, and it looks like the complete trailer.

    Thank you and welcome, Sixtwo. I must say Sixtwo, you sure know how to make an entrance. This clearer footage of the promo does make things look brighter for the conversion. The picture itself is much cleaner without the jaggies and the textures seem to be quite improved yet washed out if you know what I mean.

    Everything looks paler than the arcade version, the new training stage even seems to take advantage of this by being so sparse in colour, but the overall polygon count seems higher than before. Akira's face and textures seem improved and that's always been my measuring stick. Also, Brad has his six-pack in his 2P costume so that bodes well for Sarah having hers too.

    just wanted to point out that both the DblPm and the Shoulder are P counterable, so E'ing won't avoid the punch, only moves which aren't quick enough to hit that move in recovery (like a Knee). And, I noticed that in the Arashi/Tsuchikumo video, Arashi guards Pai's D, f+P, which is throw counterable, and didn't throw...

    But I know what you're saying. There was a clip from Beat Tribe where a Jacky player guarded Mukki's DblPm and did nothing at all, even though f+P,K; d/f+PPP- u+P etc are all guaranteed; lost the match as a result.

    While we're on the subject (or not) of high level mistakes....I can't remember exactly which clip it was (begging for the flame here, huh?) but it's from the last few pages...A 70%+ Akira vs a 70%+ Sarah where the Akira just owns from the right side but is totally lost from the left side...in fact the only thing he can manage consistantly from the left is [1]+[P]+[G]!

    actualy regarding Goh's shrm, it was made easier to throw in Ver B evo. Although moves are throw counterable some of these moves are hard to punish as the block stun is very short. So you cannot just look at the frame advantage. If the block stun is like one frame, I am sure no one can throw in time after visually confirming the block.

    Same for Brad's b,f+k+g. It is throw counterable but it is hard to punish.
