I downloaded the movie of ShinZ's Lei and watched it. Mmm... I don't think it's very impressive especially compared to Daioh's Lei movie. You can see ShinZ didn't use the benefit of Lei in Evo like the daioh's player did, and I think they Korean players are probably just trying Evo in very early stage.
Spotlite, how do think about the card system of Initial D(Sega's new racing game with card system)? Everytime I see it, I will feel very angry about that we cannot get a card system of Evo like that.

    AM2 site update:

    http://am.sega.jp/utop/news/img/vo4evo/33jun_02.wmv Shun vs Aoi
Excellent Aoi action here. In one sequence, she reverses Shun's low rising sweep, immediately follows with, [4][6][P]+[K] -> [6]+[K][K], then a low throw attempt. Textbook Aoi stuff. /versus/images/icons/cool.gif

I like ShinZ's Goh. Some thing I always look for when watching Goh clips is the usage of [3][G]+[K] [6][G]+[P] (The slow-advancing low kick with the hit throw followup). I try to pay attention to when Goh players prefer to use it. It's slow and not very easy to MC with.

I've seen several players do it early and duck some high attacks I think, but I also liked how ShinZ used it, although I am not sure if it will work most of the time. In the Goh vs Lion Clip, around the 52th second, you see Goh Evade Lion's [4][3][P], stand still for a second while Lion is trying to block, then do [3][G]+[K] [6][G]+[P]. At that point the Lion player was probably trying to interrupt with a punch or something, and got hit by Goh's move. Looked nice /versus/images/icons/smile.gif.

Another thing I noticed by playing Goh before and also by watching the clips. The ground throws don't seem to connect if the opponent is lying down for a while, do they? This also seems to be the case with Aoi's ground throws (Which I tried), and probably Wolf And Jeff as well. It's like you have to input the low throw command while the opponent is going down for it to connect. I was wondering if this was the case with Vercion C as well, since I don't have the means to test it. Anyone can confirm? /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Re: ground throws, I can't speak for goh, but they'll work even if the opponent's been down for a while - they seem to miss usually because of range, and also they will miss if the opponent is just starting to roll in any direction, even if it's the first frame of the roll.

If you're having trouble saving the new AM2 clips...

AM2 has cheaped out and gone with some stream service for their clips now. It's immensely irritating, and makes me sad.

The good news is the clips are saveable, though at first I had a lot of trouble trying to figure out how.

    1. Go to an am2 download page with the new streaming movies - for example
    Updated clips page evoote_36
    Update clips page evoote_38
... Right click on one of the links on that ends in .asx .. choose copy shortcut.

    2. Run streambox and enter the url you copied (for example: http://asx.pod.tv/am-sega/free/oyam_jun01.asx )

    3. In the same dialogue box where you enter the url, click the connection tab and change it to 256k DSL. You'll need to do that manually for each download. I'm not sure if the goal is to change the speed to something as close as possible to your actual connection speed, or if you just want to make sure it's not too high, or what. But anyway, do it, and also check the box below that says "MMS streams".

    4. Make sure you're saving to a directory that doesn't have an old, screwed up attempt to download the same file. Otherwise streambox tries (and fails) to resume the download.

    5. Paranoia stuff that you probably don't need to do:
-keep the browser window open (the one with the links from which you get these movies).
-make sure the box that says "import cookies" is checked .. that's under the connection tab also.
-have both "filename specified by location" and "destination specified by location" checked.. that's under the first tab where you enter the url.

It's normal for two downloads to pop up at once, one of them starts downloading normally, the other one shows a skull'n'crossbones. Don't fool with either of these until you see it's finished downloading (shows a checkmark). Also, the actual downloaded filesize should match the filesize reported in the third column. If the download stops at 45ish percent, or if it says 4.4 megs have been downloaded and the filesize is 10.2 megs... it screwed up. In which case delete the screwed up file, and try again. Tweak the settings I've mentioned above.

If all else fails, I'll mirror these files on irc, and vfzone.com is good about mirroring stuff as well.

    Daioh update:

    http://www5d.biglobe.ne.jp/~daioh/movie/daioh_ero021012_2b.wmv 25 MB

http://www5d.biglobe.ne.jp/~daioh/movie/daioh_ero021012_2a.wmv 49 MB (high res version)

Some nice Akira and Jeffry action here. The first and last matches are great. The first is an Akira vs Sarah match which is very close. The Kage vs Jeff match at the end is excellent. TKOD, that's all I have to say......Jeffry owns you!!! /versus/images/icons/cool.gif /versus/images/icons/cool.gif

    VFZone update:

    http://vfevo.com/movie/china/1_jer_jac.wmv Jeffry vs Jacky
The Jacky player here appears to be totally clueless. He practically has the first round won, and resorts to [2][P]+[K], [K][K][K][K] to finish Jeffry off/show off, but ends up whiffing the last [K]. Jeff counters with knee, [2][P], [4][3][P][P], and punishes the TR with [2][K]+[G] for the amazing comeback win. Did I mention that Jeffry owns you? /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

Just so people don't go downloading movies twice, the china movies DRE posted about on VFZONE are the same ones referred to in the HK-VF.Net thread.

Looks like more streaming vids on AM2's site again. Hopefully VFzone will mirror them tomorrow. If not, here they are:

    http://asx.pod.tv/am-sega/free/shibu_02.asx

    Daioh update:

For the 22 Oct update, it seems that only the 60 MB high resolution version's available for now. Maybe tomorrow, the modem-friendly 30 MB version will be available..... Enjoy.

BTW, for anyone interested, the Daioh clip is all Kage!! With the exception of the last match (Jackey vs Kage), it's all Kage vs. Kage, and with 12 minutes run time you would expect a lot of Kage /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif. Since It's all about Kage, Kyasao had to play, and I think it's the first 2 matches where we see him play his, again, Kage /versus/images/icons/grin.gif. How many Kages can a clip of Kage play showcase? /versus/images/icons/grin.gif
