No, but it does count for something. Hell, Sega realized they needed to attract more people...they produce arguablly better games overall, but sell like shit outside of Japan. So they made VF4 more flashy to get more people to play.
GGXX is a pretty bad example of flash over substinance - it happens to be increadibly deep and probally is about as deep as you can make a 2d fighting game. I heard of the game you mentioned, but name only.

I think u missed her point again

    What she meant was

GGXX = deep with awesome gfx (it's very common knowledge...even I love this game)

Rage of the Dragons = Deep game but ugly gfx
(I personally hated the animation found in this game...n the gfx, yuck! but heck...I only have time for one 2d game, ggxx for me. Arcadia if I remember correctly, even had sections covering game tactics n techniques for ROTD.)

    Two reason for that

    1. There marketing sucks here in the states and rest of the world probably besides Japan.

    2. The people who appreciate their games are very small like this group of freaks. /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Marketting in Japan isn't THAT different, except for the fact that if you focus-market in 3 or 4 major metropolitan areas, you've got a majority of the gaming population covered. Not so in the US. (Europe's a bit different.) Oh, and they give out more freebies, which I like. (^_^)

Still, marketting doesn't always help. Microsoft markets the HELL out of the XBox here, and we all know how that's going...

PS. Lot of Sega's game are developed with a Western audience in mind. Shinobi got released FIRST in the US, and Mr. Mukaiyama said when we interviewed him that he expected most of the anticipation for Panzer Dragoon Orta to come from Japan, but it turned out it was even bigger abroad. He was very surprised!

What really annoys me is Sega is, pardon my french, being a little whore.

They talk out both sides of their mouth, on one end they are merging with Sammy, another Namco, now they'll flirt with Microsoft again!

Is it really a surprise they are in the financial position they are in today. Hey Sega shit or get off the pot.
Meanwhile we can't even get a US release date -for evo- out of them, why becuase they are off in la la land thinking about freakin merging.

Urm Sega REFUSED a lot of offers, its not Sega whoring themselves out, its companies waiting in line to merge or buy Sega.

Sega has not refused anything...they have not accepted anything either.

Dude Replicant already provided early on in this thread.
I cant help it that youre too blind and retarded to see whats in plain sight and is public knoledge.
    Here goes again: http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/news/news_6025266.html
Namco said that the two companies formed an alliance in the arcade field in September 2001, which led to talks of a merger last year. However, the talks have been halted since then, at Sega's request.

There is a shitload more that is not officially public at this point(like MS and Nintendo vying for Sega, both of wich were shot down by Sega as well), those no doubt in the coming years will become public as well.

Well from what it seems like Sega is wishy washy and thats why I called them whores. Still they have to be one of the most poorly managed companies in the world.
Whatever happens I hope they finally end up on their feet. If they didn't try to go head to head with EA with the sports thing, they never would have been in this situation.

All I know is that I was right about their solicting of themselves and in turn pissing off Sammy.

That in no way vindicates what you have and are claiming.
Sega got multiple offers so Sega gets to choose wich one they think is best.

Even if it offends the company who they were set on merging with?

This is Japan, not Wall Street. Honor in business still means something doesn't it?

Fishie at least we can both agree that Sega is one poorly managed company.
