Seen Gorgoroth live not long back, i'm not a big fan of this kind of music but their live show was pretty tight.

^ Can't stop listening to this track right now, it's fairly brutal but not in an aggressive way. There's something about the whole song that I just find enchanting.

NSFW due to lyrics and just odd video. Hilarious and nonsensical.

Maaaaan, you have no idea how much I'd love to see them come to the US! Gorgoroth are pretty much my favourite band ever.

Dude's pretty intense. I like it.

Also, I love how the subject name line has changed since my three-song post.

Can't argue with that. Just thought people knew the song already. [IMG]

Saw these two bands in concert a couple of weeks ago for the "Fight the Silence" tour that they're doing. Was so amazing, went early to get front row spots n all that.

These are the main cats we went to see.

And these guys, they were amazing too.

I posted music from a friend by the name Bryce Maruk here before. Check out the accoustic cover he made for Best Coast's song 'The Only Place.'

I thought there was a backing singer in the first song till just over halfway through. It's a very remarkable sound, really quite original as far as I know and certainly nothing I've ever heard of coming solely from a sax. It's a big bloody sax as well!

He reminded me somewhat of Arthur Russell, who's not entirely my cup of tea, he's rather morose. But perhaps he would interest you?

I just listened to that first song again. It's fucking nuts what he's doing. I guessing the vocal sound comes from that mic on his throat. Very emotive stuff.

It's a technique called 'growling': you basically just sing through your saxophone. Because your voice clashes with the sound of the instrument, this is normally just used to create a distortion type sound. You hear this in rock a lot. But here he's actually just singing.

Here's a nice video of him explaining what he's doing in the song 'Judges':

As far as big saxes go, that's a bass sax. There's still a couple of bigger saxes:

    Contrabass:

And subcontrabass, but I don't think this thing can really be taken seriously :p

Now, I can hear everyone asking: 'what would it sound like if there were to be a bass sax quartet?'

    Wellllll...

Last one and then it's enough with the big saxes, Stetson again with something a bit more funky:

    Forgive me for spamming.

EDIT: Boris, couldn't get into that guy either, sorry!

    Effin' beautiful, that.

    And, y'know, this, too.

And perhaps something not so Metal, since it doesn't look like very many VFDC members are into it.
