I love Yuzo Koshiro and I sorta like initial D! I might be behind the curve, but Streets of Rage: Remake is something that y'all should check out if you like SoR!

Anyway it's always the alternate future where the late 80's/mid-90's is still with us on the internet in the next two. The last one was just something I came across randomly on youtube. Reminds me of Tim Hecker.

I used to listen to a lot of Jazz. Now I do not. I don't know why.

The Streets of Rage Remake V5 soundtrack is pretty good. I still prefer the original mixes of all tracks by a hair, but that is certainly worth listening to in its own right.

I like that “Brokendate†tune by Com Truise. Haha, that evil programmer was doing his dirty futuristic work on a C64. Wow, how time flies.

    That’s an interesting remake of Wu-Tang Clan’s “C.R.E.A.M.†by Wugazi.

Heh, I really don’t know what to think about “A Thousand Sunsâ€. That one threw me for a loop. It sounds like it was maybe charting the slow evolution of something big. I’m not sure what, though.

Anyway, I want to give an ode here to more videogame music created by another legendary composer. Specifically, a composer who has created the best jazz-inspired tunes I have ever heard on a videogame. Who is it? Koichi Namiki.

In combination with having smooth gameplay, great graphics, and both being played in huge sit-down cabinets with the sweet flight control stick, Koichi Namiki’s exceptional compositions in Thunder Blade and Galaxy Force II is a big reason why I got lost in amazement while playing those games as a youngster. Koichi’s funked-out jazz tunes are what got me hooked from the first time I played them. These games are obviously outdated now, but his great music lives forever. And boy does he get busy on that bass guitar!

Koichi currently has a YouTube channel under the name ‘SlapSamurai357x’ putting on a hell of display of his guitar skills. Dude shows and proves he can still get down on it.

He has also contributed music for the equally great Super Hang-On soundtrack, although this one contains ‘80s style synth-rock music instead as opposed to jazz tunes. All four tracks from that game (“Outride a Crisis,†“Sprinterâ€, “The Winning Run,†and “Hard Roadâ€) still sound great today in my opinion. The Genesis/Mega Drive version of every SHO tune sounds cleaner but doesn’t have the heavy bass and “dirty†drum kick that the arcade version possess. I still think both versions are worth listening to, though.

Haha, well that "Buck Bumble Theme" tune is very catchy if nothing else. I imagine it suits the vibe of that game perfectly.

I really like the dark mood that the hard rock-oriented "Aracno's Theme and "Toxic Theme" tunes from the Death Cargo soundtrack sets. Nice close up image of Aracno too. [IMG]

On another note, I want to correct myself when I posted Koichi Namiki's YouTube channel name as I got the numbers mixed up. It's really SlapSamurai753x, not 357x like I posted above.

Buck Bumble's theme got burned into my brain after it came out. Be warned!

Ah, good memories of the VF4E iso I made with a custom soundtrack (yes it was possible!). I think this was playing on Kage's stage for some reason.-- they kinda randomly got put on there. Made quest mode much more fun for some reason.

I was silly enough to make this the character select screen music.

Durnit the VF4E soundtrack is the weakest. I love VF4 vanilla's though!

killer7 has an amazing soundtrack (Rave On, Succesion, Tecks Mecks, Overlook,..).
Masafumi Takada is one of my favorite composer, he also made the soundtrack for God Hand:

    Gene's Rock-A-Bye

Even though that song is played literally during 90% of the whole game I somehow can't get enough of it.

This is the standout track on his album from last year, probably one of my favs recently.

I saw boris in STL - they tour america from time to time - but it was summer, and the venue did not have much of an AC unit at all. Russian Circles opened for them, which kinda surprised me given the venue is dive-y. They're also a good band.

Anyways, I had to leave early due to the sweltering heat in the venue - started to feel sick. Still love this band, though. cool story

I'm more into the Feedbacker/Dronevil style Boris. But Naki Kyoku is awesome. Kinda like a japanese maggot brain.

This RPG was one of my favorites as a lil kid. I don't know how much it would hold up today, but damn nostalgia. This opening was a huge reason why I liked the game too.

JRPGs have only gotten worse since PSX so you're in luck! That opening makes me want to give the series a second look. Wild Arms 3 wore thin after about 2hrs [IMG]

Fulaani I'm firmly in the stoner/doom boris camp. I enjoyed Flood but I can't remember much of their other instrumental/drone albums. I do enjoy The Angelic Process a lot though.

What yall know bout Final Fantasy 3? I played the mess outa this game, was bout 12-13 when it came out. Had the best music for any game that i've ever played, even up to this day. Just felt like it had so much emotion in the songs, and the right emotion for the scenes/what was going on in the story at the time. I had the soundtrack for it n all that. Loaned it to a friend and never saw it again. Keith, i'm still lookin for you man hahah. (I know yall remember Keith, Air Jack n Jhow. The cat who could play Dragon's Lair or whatever it's called on expert without looking at the screen o_O )

One of the illest boss battle themes ever, hahah.

Feaucha you're spot on with that. Here's Jeremy Soule (Icewind Dale, Skyrim, Morrowind, etc.) re-doing the main theme. Full circle! It's a shame since JRPGs never grew up past FF3. Xenogears had some inklings of it but the 2nd disc meltdown put me off it pretty quick.

I've been replaying FF3/6 lately, GBA translation isn't bad and the music doesn't suffer much at all on the different sound hardware.
