me.. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif (and gorilla kagesuke, hideo & 8 so i've seen)

------------

these are the cycles i am working on at present here

the main cycles are (from 2P side):

:- [3][3], [4][4], [6][6], E, [1][1]([G] / [K][G]) (repeat)

:- [3][3][G], E, [1][1][G] (repeat)

as you can see, i'm having a hard time keeping it consistant /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif i apologise for the screen size of the movie, if it's too big, just shrink it..

enjoy~

Thanks for clarifying that up Ice. And thanks to the rest of you for explaining the weaknesses of f.g-ing (fuzzy guarding).

And a big thanks for starting this thread.[1][2][1] works WAY better than [1] neutral [1]. No more hitting [1][1] until sweat beads form on my forehead /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

In a long distance, when both playes use step to find an opening.
[3][3][G][2](n)[1][1][4][4][3][3][1][3][P]+[K]+[G]

-> While spacing, Minami uses [3][P]+[K]+[G] which is safe and sabakies low punch.

[/ QUOTE ]
Also, if you think that you are at an appropriate distance (i.e. one that leaves you with sufficient enough space to throw out the [3]+[P]+[K]+[G] without the opponent having proper spacing to counter it) you should use [3]+[P]+[K]+[G] to switch stance (i.e. open to close, or close to open), as far the application of this technique, it is only possible with Akira specifically, seeing as the move in question is his, though other characters do have fast (safe) moves that switch stance that are suitable as subsitutes.

So when using the [3]+[P]+[K]+[G] to switch stances, you would most likely only want to switch to open stance from closed stance, seeing as some of Akira's float/combo moves have greater damamge potential in open stance.

I am not sure exactly of Minami's incorporation of the [4][3]+[P] command, but I have seen him use it (check out the match of him vs Yoro from KSII). The properties of [4][3]+[P] are beneficial to use from his step, for reasons that the move is a decently ranged and safe, forcing crouch move, and sets up a nice guessing game for the opponent.

I have seen several effective [4][3]+[P] follow ups (remember that this is not a good move to use in close range, but more of a mid range offensive attack, when closing distance with the opponent). On a normal hit, you have all the advantages of a force crouch move, so a high-throw, or fast attack are preferable here, basically any traditional force crouch follow up is acceptable. A nice note, is that on an MC, the move can be followed up by a gaurenteed dblplm, and [P][K] (but you cannot do the [6_][P][K] or else you will Akira's FC single palm).

I was going to ask in general which chars step at all?Obviously it is most beneficial to Akira as it gives him the option of leading into his modified moves ( like the [2_][6][P][P] loves to throw out so often ).I've seen vids where Jacky and Sarah are steping to good use. Can't think of many more of the top of my head.I try to to a bit of stepping with Goh from time to time but don't bother with any other chars.Does anyone know which chars are played with stepping?

I was wondering if the Minami steps are an effective move for Kage. If they are, what can you follow them up with?

I don't think people are understanding the basis behind the step system. It's not meant for purpose other than to avoid your opponents attacks and baiting. You can do anything when your opponent misses. It's effective for ALL the characters. Have fun with it /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A good Kage move to use after the step is his uppercut. Just use [3][3][P] to get the "instant" [2_][3][P] after a successful evade. Evade -> [3][P] is very strong also.

Speaing of which, doing [3][3] instead of [2][3_] or[ D][3] is more effective.

Is there a list of the names of the different types of steps. Might be a silly question but *shrug*

Im tryin very hard at the moment to develop some stepping skillz but it doesnt work really good. I always try [1][1][G][1][G][1][G] to retreat fast with smooth movement. In case of fact always when i do a backwards crouchdash or simply a [1] i actually press more directions than that. Thus my input must be bad. Or its my stick??! When i try just [1] , [1][4] happens. I think therefore im not able to do the necessary rythm for a good step.
I would love to hear some accurate advice for pressing the commands efficently for that step; or maybe a little clue to make it easier in some way......but i guess its just up to me to train my precision.......
