I wonder if Snake will make Metal Gear Smores when he gets hungry. I'm excited about 3, except for the eating bits.

Real men don't need a radar!...plus it's more fun playing without it too.

About that IGN article claiming that there is no radar - can anyone find an actual source from where they got their info from in that article? I did a search and all the other sites got it from IGN (typical) so is this true or not?

None of the IN-GAME screen shots have radar if that helps, they still might add it in if people complain about it.

Yeah but the thing is Hideo Kojima won't release any info unless he wants to.Hardly any ( if at all ) of the E3 footage of MGS2 had radar in.He presented things in as cinematic a way as possible. Its far to early to have any idea of speculation of what the game'll include imo.

Tons of magazines and websites have confirmed that there will be no radar, so if you can't find several sources you need to search harder. After E3 there were shitloads (like hundreds) of screenshots and movies released of MGS3, all of the in-game captures showed no radar on the screen.

    There are several Konami employees
(including Kojima) that says therer will not be radar, and that they are working on supplements for radar, to compensate for a lack of radar. The odds of seeing radar in the bulk of the game, if even at all, are extremely low right now. MGS games need to head in a "new direcetion" according to Kojima, and well, it doesn't get much more new than this.

Big Boss (it IS Big Boss), the 60's (back in time, weird imo), mostly outdoors, no radar, little cinematic scenes (thank God), emphasis on survival as opposed to: "this is the enemy, sneak by or kill them in order to fight the next boss, afterwards there will be more enemies, followed by another boss," type of game.

MGS3 is moving away from the typical MG formula of game, don't be surprised if there are very few similarites between MGS3 and its predecessors.

Well if there are tons please give me a link to one of them. It's possible that my search engine skills aren't very 1337, so please give me a link if there is one. By the way of the screenshots that came out after E3, how many of them weren't from the full trailer shown at E3? I don't think the screenshots show anything new.

Again if you could give me a link I would be happy.

My purpose was never to make an argument, a point, or to be right. I just wanted to get a source so it could be 99% true.

For a start I haven't even begun to look into the radar thing but knew of the idea that its not going to be in the game. The point I was trying to get across is that an awful lot of MGS2 demos at E3 etc... could be construed as misleading. They showed Snake fighting Fortune ( which does not happen until much later in the game and you don't actually see it) , Snake running away from a harrier which is laying down fire over some bridge ( later turned into Solidus' fight ), Snake escaping from the sinking tanker...need I go on?As drunken cat suggested above I'm not disagreeing or arguing with any one, I just reckon its too early to be reading between the lines of everything I've seen so far.I mean did you have a clue that 4/5 of MGS2 you would be controlling some random guy as opposed to Snake? No, cos Kojima wanted it that way.If he wants to keep suprises in store for MGS3 he will.Whatever happens I can't wait for it! /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I went to yahoo.com and searched: "Metal Gear 3 no radar"

    Cyber Gaming.Net
    Digital Spy
    IGN's interview with Kojima
    Operation MGS

This search took literally a minute to find these links, it is sad that you couldn't find one good site out of the 28,700 thatYahoo found for me.

As of now in MGS3, there is no plan for radar to be included, this is of course like everything in the game subject to change, though it is not likely you will be seeing radar in MGS3.

I just hope that MGS3 will return to it's roots of what makes it a great game. Let's hope Kojima keeps out the philosophical B.S. and Girly Blonde Boy in this version, those are basically my biggest complains in MGS2 other than that very nice. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Well done. You did a search and posted the first 4 results. The first one mentioned that MGS will not have a radar, the second was from a forums so it is already second-hand, the third mentioned that there would not be a radar, the fourth mentioned that in a recent interview Kojima mentioned that there would not be a radar.

Guess what - I can do this too.

There you go two more sites saying that there will be no radar. I know there are sites out there reporting that there will not be a radar in MGS3, I wanted a SOURCE. I now have one, which is "In recent interviews, Kojima expressed that he would like players to go through Metal Gear Solid 3, without the radar on, but that it would be an option. Well no longer, Hideo has now decided to remove the radar from MGS3 completely." There is no author, and they didn't claim who the interview was conducted with.

Really I don't care. I will wait for MGS3 to be in my PS2 before I decide what will or won't be in the game. But the internet is the world's biggest rumour mill, and fiction can quickly turn into fact, so I just wanted to at least be mostly sure about what might be in the game. After all it makes for good speculation.
