that's not the case here tho KOD. he is stating that it's a TRUE combo when it's not. and sorry, my frame data was wrong, so yes you're right, it cannot be interrupted.

In my opinion the point is moot about the low throw after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif as a true combo because the throw can easily be escaped.

Sure it will work on people who don't know how to escape the low throw and its possible to mess up throw escape commands( especially in online play /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif ) but overall its not a tactic that one should focus on at all while playing Jeffry.

They're not gonna be able to input all three escapes. You do your thing and I'll do mine I guess. We'll just have to see who wins.

It is very possible to input 3 low throw escapes.

There is a dojo exercise in VF4:Evo that actually lets you train this against Jeffry. I used to practice it everyday until I could do it 100% of the time.

I'll admit if you were to ask me to do it at this very moment I will not be proficient but give me 30 minutes to train and hopefully I would be back to speed. I know I can input 2 without a problem as most people should.

But back on topic of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, If I would get hit by it, I would input /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif first, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif second and end with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif.

I can recall getting low thrown by jeff after a crumple or force crouch maybe 1 time in 200 matches online, and my input dexterity generally sucks. What you're proposing as a strategy (evade, dbPK, lowthrow) does at most 1/3 more damage than a dfPP combo, assuming dbPK even hits, which it is less likely to do because of the speed of the move. If they can escape more than 1/3 of the time, you're better off with dfPP.

Imagine hitting a MC /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif... wouldn't it have been better to just use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif?

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif only has one usage: oki (but use it sparsely).

/debate on /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (it really is a stupid fucking move, with only one decent use)

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is better.

Jeffry only has 3 low throws, amirite?

Inputting 3 throw escapes is pretty easy.

How about triple throw escape guard cancel? Is anyone actually doing this during matches?

  12. Gernburgs

    Gernburgs Well-Known Member

Of course not. They're just talking shit. If you try to break all three and then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif you're gonna get juggled period. I highly doubt you're gonna be able to triple-TEG at -12f. However, we'll have to see in a real match.

I can definitely break 2 low throws, and I suck.

Again, point is, they don't have to break all three - if they break even 2 of them randomly & consistently, you're better off with e.g. dfPP.

Why train yourself to rely on something that isnt consistent?

Why throw ever if it can be broken??? Nobody is gonna break it the first time you do it. The second time you knee them, the third you throw again.

gernburgs it´ll probably work on relatively new players. but i figure these guys speak from a different perspective, i´m pretty sure if you play experienced players they will always input low throw escapes just incase, even the first time.

I moved this topic b/c it was really deviating from Jeff's top 10 moves, and we already had a thread about whether low throwing from crumple or force crouch was valid.

EmX chill out with the personal insults or you'll get banned ;). Just kidding, glad to see gernburgs has a sense of humor about it.

Gernburgs, the reason your comparison to high throws is inaccurate is

    1. Jeff has 6 high throw directions, plus a catch throw. Its not really humanly possible to break 6 throw directions within the throw escape window. Jeff only has 3 low throw directions (no one has more). It is very humanly possible to break 3 low throw directions, and still evade or guard.

    2. After stomach crumple or force crouch is a REALLY OBVIOUS time to low throw, hence people that are used to it will be expecting it. If you start getting obvious with high throws, they will break those too . . .

    3. High throws are for mixing in with mids to break down someone's guard, not for guaranteed damage. You're talking about giving up guaranteed damage (either from /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif instead of low throw, or any number of faster moves with actual combos that you could have done instead of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif ) for the guess that they don't know how to break 2 low throw escapes and guard. Same reasoning applies even if you start mixing in knee (with poor float from crouch, no less), its not guaranteed damage.

Sure, if they don't break it, keep doing it - just like most jeff players will splash mountain people all day until they prove they can break it. But it's not the best habit in the world to get into.
