Once in awhile I get a game with a really bad connection, but that's not all that often... I try to buffer attacks from a block really early. When it comes to online, sometimes I buffer the attack even a tad before the block visually registers.

Couple things you can try after 2p is blocked:
    -443+k(creates stagger)
-8_2p+k(One of the faster evade attacks, thanks sega. :p)
-6p into brad slipping guess DOES WORK!(You have to buffer immediately on block.)
Regardlless of lag I'm pretty sure you will still have the advantage with opponents 2p blocked.

    Peace^-^

actually you're right, i think my mistake was impatient and frustrated to get the timing right, also brad does have options could easily deal with low punches. backward slip (4pkg) into a mid kick should work as well, although i only started to mess around with brad for fun, alot of his new moves i have yet to go through the command list, still playing like VF4 style. ;-)

Lau has 9p. 9p makes me smile.

    Koen-Ken is serious business.

im trying to learn general strategies that i can use for any character and these are some great tips guy.. my friend kimura spams lows all day, LP and sweeps with goh all the time.. if he gets kesagatame in too it just makes me sick..

im gonna try to make an elbow my primary response/preemtive strike cause i hate low punch wars.. i want to crush them (sabaki is the right term i think) first instead of gettin hit with the first one or blocking.. if blocking is the second option i hope to avoid gettin kneecapped half a dozen time trying to throw a mid that doesnt work..

If I see my opponent actually spamming 2P, my instinct is usually to try and DM attack it. Bad this is, I play Fei, and his DM attack isn't that great, even if you follow it up with P, so even when it works it doesn't always give me a significant edge.

(Note: this is what I said I do, not what is necessarily best)

Now that I think of it, though, OM attack might be a good way to punish 2P spammers. It results in a stagger on counter (likely, if they're spamming 2P), so you could pour on some offense from there, I think.

OM Attack works well against low punch spammers when done from the right distance. But overall, I think the basic elbow does quite well against people who spam low punch /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

But there is a difference between people who spam low punch and people who use low punch effectively.

To elaborate on what Chanchai suggested (using "elbow"), the best way to deal with 2P "spam" is to simply Guard it, then use any 17frame (or faster) mid attack as a reply. This will CH any 2P attempt thereafter since they're at -5 disadvantage.

Suggesting OM is overkill IMO. People really need to solidify their basics and not be exploring higher end solutions to really simple problems.

If you guard the opponent's 2P, you can either:

    1. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

    or

    2. tap /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif, return to neutal, press /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, press /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif.

Clearly, option 1 is much simpler to execute, understand, teach to newbies, and less prone to input error.

I don't think OM is an effective solution at all... infact, you'll probably get hit out of it by LP spam.

Even /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is pushing it a bit for newcomers.

it's not as easy as you think when your opponent have a slight lag, or they are a decent player who still mix up with 2P2P2P spam.

Although I do think it's my fault not to react quicker on spam like these.

I know there probably is a better place to ask this, however i was reading the thread coz i run into this issue almost every other match and some days every match.

My question is this: is there a good time/day to play decent people online? I'm semi new to VF(played Evo with Ric and the rest of the seattle scene for a while) and playing random scrubs that spam down p or down k for days or are just nasty in general is forcing me to fall into bad habits.

I am of course still learning so if anyone wouldnt mind showing me whats up id love to get some good matches in. my tag on Live is Ryanloop

depends on where you live and what time is good for you.. bad players play all day, good players play anytime..

either work the ai till you make beating the lp habit or practice in player matches fighting other people.. the better you get the less dangerous spammers become..

doesnt mean it wont work sometimes, but youll be better prepared to discourage it and exploit it when you see it. cant train to stop it if you never see it..

Block and elbow is still one of the simplest and most working solutions I know of. You get a stagger that helps to regain initiative.
OM is indeed pushing it, I cant really use it myself so why would I ask beginners to do it!

i slowly defeating the low punch by guard and buffering first /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. if it's lag i have to enter this a split sec earlier, still difficult! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Yep, its hard with Lion I know ^^
You should maybe do block -> /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif instead.

edit: Also don't forget that you can block low punch from standing

well the thing is its not just the low punch thats getting to me, its the random people that spam the same 2 or 3 moves over and over again hoping to get their win number higher anyway they can. If there is one thing i learned from SC its that playing random scrubs over and over will teach you how to not play the game.

Hard to say when good players tend to be on Live, but I always find a few whenever I play.

BTW, seeing that you are from Seattle, there's going to be a good amount of Northwest VF action in Seattle this Friday at Preppy's twice-monthly poker nights. You can find info in the appropriately titled thread at:
    Northwest Forums @ SRK

Furthermore, we do have a Northwest VFers thread in the Matchmaking forums. I'll be posting about Preppy's gathering there.

If you can make it, you definitely want to go there because it'll probably be Yosuke's final Northwest gathering for a long, long time. Sadly for the Northwest, Yosuke's moving elsewhere... But he is leaving the Northwest as VF scenes emerge in the area--so great VF lives on. Trust me, you want to watch Yosuke play VF. And if you want to quickly realize the bad habits that you have in your game, play against him a lot!

Back to the topic of low punch... You can still buffer elbows to punish low punches online, even if there's a bit of lag. However, you do have to buffer early... I buffer while the low punch is happening... After a bit of practice, it's still relatively easy. But you have to be on it right away. But that's true even in offline play.
