Looking for players in Scotland.

Yeah i vote for only the one set of the round robin as well. it jsut seemed liek last time teh resutls wre pretty much decided by half way anyways.

in regards to wolf, don't neglect your own low P and P (evne though its 13 frames) hcb is great as well because its as fast as an elbow and not really that punishable since you can fuck around with the followup P when block. From the little I understand of wolf I'd say that it's a key move for wolf and something nobody in our group has ever really made use of.

I always though about trying to mess with the HCB and delaying the 2nd but I just can't get half circles out quick enough for it to give any sort of frame advantage in that situation.

Okay, but like I said before even if you come top by 5 points or whatever it means fuck all since you still have to get through the finals. I think we'll toss a coin to decide who plays on what side then maybe?

 

yeah that was kind of part pof my train of thought. since it's only for seeding it seems kind of excessive to do a two stage round robin.

Tossing a coin is a nice touch though, I like that.

I vote for random stage, auto reset if it's palace.

The winner should get a jaffa cake with a little #1 flag sticking out of it.

 

If it's 1 set of round robin it also allows for the time it takes to save any matches we want to save. If nothing else we should save everything from semi's onwards.

I think the winner should maybe be allowed a whole packet of jaffa's.Plus whatever else I can find on special offer in scotmid /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif


Anyway, I foresee winner stays on until around 3pm then we'll start with the league, that should give us plenty of time.

 

I was thinking when we have the time that a mini round robin of our worst characters would be cute.

Oh and I checked, you can erase specific player profiles from the file. So any of the characters that are more than double booked (akira ans sarah spring to mind) can be freed up if someone is going to be using them more than they are now.

I shall now take the unusual step of asking what food I should buy besides jaffa's and coke?

One last piece of info, either on the 28th of november or the 5th of december, I'll have the house to myself for that whole friday. Sam will be going down to her mum's for a weekend to hand over christmas presents etc. Just letting you know in advance, as you will all of course be welcome for VF marathons. Hopefully Stephen too if he can make it, and maybe show us his mad top spin skills.

Yeah I have stopped using sarah so I think we should erase that profile so Dark can use it.

Admittedly it hurts a fucking lot to lose by ring out. But hey, no palace stage. Seems to be part of Kage's game to get ring outs so as VF players we have to learn to adapt to avoid that shit. So it's really our fault if we're not TE-ing TFT.

 

I actually think that by using TFT excessively in the casual matches it's making people more aware of when they really should be putting in their throw escapes.

Something that I have been really lax on of late actually. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Gonna go put in some hardcore practice later on hopefully.

But brute force keeps calling me.

 

It'll teach you to mix the throws up a bit. I need to be ultra focused to stop going for rising attacks and tech rolling straight into a catch throw or something.

How about we just don't bother using our tournament characters in the pre-tournament winner stays on? Or is that too restricting?

 

yes i seriously need the practice with kage.

My real problem is actually going for the throw at the wrong time and getting interupted with a striking attack or whiffing when someone ducks that's the thing i need to work on the most right now.

Thanks, that sounds good, although I think the 5th December could be a problem. It's the day before before Debs and I leave for Nam on a 19-hour flight. Might still be possible though, depending on how organised I am and how much advance packing I've done /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Also, saying I'm out of practice with VF would be a silly understatement. I think I had one practice session with Akira since the last session at my place, and that's it! Still, I'm sure I can dust off my Lion and Aoi for a few laughs at the very least.

Top Spin hs been taking allot of my time up recently. It's about the only game I've played since Evo that I don't grudge spending vast amounts of time playing. It's fantastic online, and should be even more interesting when the xsnp sports leagues get up and running later this month. I had the satisfaction of beating a big-mouthed Californian online the other night, with no discernable lag.

I fancy getting it just for the online aspect. There's a league getting set up over at ntsc-uk which interests me but I don't really want to talk to them over the headset. I find it easier talking to americans and germans on Live /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yea, you won't be dissapointed. I got it mainly for the online play too.

It's got a cool ranking feature that keeps track of stats and calculates your new position based on the ranking of the opponent. I'm hovering around the 2000 mark at the moment, but I've had some close games with folk in the top 500.

I really need to knuckle-down with the career mode and boost my character before venturing online again.

 

you've just about convinced me. If I see it cheap-ish, or less than RRP i'll pick it up.

Anthony's coming round at 2.30ish tomorrow, just got a text from him.
