I'm always hunting. I can never find any 1st dans though which is wierd.

 

Those were some great matches Slide. I can't even remember the last time I played you. I was shocked to find a Sentinel. Just for the record I host & join 50/50. So I hope this isn't directed at me =O

 

good games man, yeah. now get past master, because after that, that's where it's actually fun and exciting. there's a bunch of 10th dans around there, I got back on ranked last week, and I was a 9th dan then.

lol yeah good matches. you know you was running from Denkai's Shun!! All of you guys were like vultures today though, I was maaad close to Protector, I was right there. You jumped in and on the flow, cause once I hit Protector I was going to battle with it against Denkai, but then I got toppled with Shuns.

When you first joined though, I was just joking around with Jeffry, you came out of nowhere I was like WTF

Shun man, damn, his moves go under EVERYTHING.

And I think the last time I played you before today, was around November or December, when I first started playing this game.

 

Trust me he has no clue what's going on. He is just defending Shun with BS. I never said Shun's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is a good move frame wise, I know it's very bad. What I was saying is that it's evasive and can stop any of Akira's next attack after he takes advantage. And yes None Other I know you have to use YOMI, but again what I am saying is why is it that no matter how Akira gets an advantage, because of Shun's evasive moves he just takes it right back without even guessing. Just use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif! But against Jeffry he can not do that when he is near Jefrry because Jeffry has /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and when he is far he has /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif the best middle kick in the game which knocks down and if middle kick hits counter he gets combo with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif for 54 damage @_@.

So we go back to my original post about why Shun is abare and that is because of moves like this is why players are not afraid to be abare there is nothing to think about. I'm not afraid to host games because i'm not interested in online rank, so it's funny to see people who just come for rank points annoying too, because they usually come with crappy connection!

It's somewhat true, and I'll be posting another message in the GG section, but I did play Denkai's Shun about 5 times. I wanted to jump into the internet and pull Denkai's Jacky back!!! =)

It actually wasn't just you I ranked on Slide. It started with Cozby, then you one match, then Denkai two matches, then back to you for three more.

I must say either it's a coincidence or this thread has helped pull people back in to ranked matches. Ever since I started this I have found more and more people. It's great! Let's keep it up VFDC community! =)

 

I must say that after reading this thread and seeing more people in ranked again
I'M almost motivated to try as hard as I can to get past 1st dan. It will be a tough
road but the extra umph that you guys seem to be putting into pulping each other
over ranking might be what I'm looking for to up my game a bit.

As I mentioned in the GG thread while giving a shout out that I think your thread definitely helped out with putting a little revival into rank matches. Hopefully it just keeps getting better.

With that said, I for one do not host much because as I have said before when ever I host I seem to only attract gray bar opponents most likely due to my high rank. I am not afraid to host, but it's really annoying for me when gray bars join because I never start the matches I just exit out back to dashboard and reload the game. Now that I see more and more people in rank I will definitely start hosting matches again, so please if anyone wants to challenge me then please feel free to do so and do it quickly to keep the gray bars away. If I stop hosting it's for 2 reason...

1) fucking gray bars just keep joining!

2) Shun bombardment! LOL last time this happened to me it was one night when I was playing and I swear it was just fucking Shun madness that night. It was Jhow77, MasaRED, None Other, Denkai(Black Bauer) Rat Goat and someone else who's name eludes me at the moment. No matter which way I turn it was fucking Shun. I am not afraid to fight Shun, but fuck having to deal with 5-6 of them and there all weird different styles is just to much for my Akira and my brain. So yup, Konjou will bitch out if it's Shun madness. The character is just to much in my opinion. He is fast, evasive, powerful, little to zero recovery, good reach, safe moves(almost nothing is /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif counter able), lots of side turned moves, full circular with mid attack follow up that can launch for combo on counter hit O_O .... hehe the list goes on forever!

 

well i am still 10th dan and i cant find any master lately, i will be on tonite hunting for Masters and i will also be hosting games for master but i usually only get Kyu's lol. well i hope to see some masters on tonight.

 

What time tonight? I don't much care if I lose my Master ranking, I just want to play for something.

As for Shun bombardment I can totally feel you there. You're absolutely right about saying having to deal with 5-6 different styles. He can be very hard to figure out to begin with, and then having to adapt to that many styles is extremely difficult.

This brings up something that's been on my mind - I don't feel as exclusive or justified with my Shun anymore. The only thing that is exempt from that statement is that at least I still play him (at least I feel I do) with a ton of creativity and less yomi. I've mentioned this before that I don't so much care about the outcome of the situation, round, match, etc., rather I want the match to look and feel like a movie so to speak - something that's very entertaining. People have said before that often they feel they lose to me because they end of watching me more than fighting me. When I first heard that I had to think about what an amusing statement that actually was.

I wish I would save all of my bizarre matches with Shun weirdness. One of the best was at the end of the 5th round I was lying down facing the wrong way, did the scissor kick while my opponent was advancing, and the second kick somehow hit him backwards for KO.

There are many, many more situations that were very odd. I can't recall most of them at the moment though.

Interesting thought here though - isn't having to play 5-6 different styles of Shun one of the best ways to improve your ability to adapt in-game?

One reason I play a lot more non-ranked games is the ability to have re-matches so that I can keep playing someone if they're doing something that is stuffing me and stopping me cold. Even though it's frustrating having to deal with the ever changing Shun mix-up, it seems like this also presents one of the best places to improve.

I definitely agree with the more you play someone the better you get, heck, that is how I particularly improve. But in heated ranking matches and having to play an evasive and disadvantage hit destroying character (ala low kick) it's almost impossible to adapt to so many and such vast differences in play style.

You may want to use Shun yourself. I guess you will end up finding he is less strong than you think right now. I'm pretty sure that at the end of the day, it all depends on how strong and experienced you are if you win or lose /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I do know he can be beating by Akira, but I never like Shun so let me complain. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif He is stupid old man and should just die. If Shun is stronger in VF5R I will probably use him as main character. Denkai is going to teach me how to use Shun very soon. We were suppose to start my training this weekend past, but we just didn't find the time. So maybe this weekend.
