True some people are deserving of there ranks but others are only lying to themselves so fuck you in advance. Sad part is there don't even be nobody in Ranked Match except for like the same few people at the same time a day and i see some of ya'll camp the fuk out in your hosted rooms thirsting for a game SMH!!!!

I guess its just never worth it to play player match no more and look for new talent.

A+ and SS system is better in DOA4 though.

how does the ranking system work. im 1stdan and what i dont get is i've beaten hunters and i got lucky and beat a raider and my rank bar didnt move but when i play a kyu of any lvl it moves all over the place in sm or lg increments and no matter how much i play i dont seem to get promotion matches anymore even when my bar is close to being full is this a glitch or am i missing something?

 

I think I'm still in the Kyu ranks somewhere.

 

idk the ranking system in VF 4 and Evo was alot more fun. Gathering items + fighting Dural in quest mode will be a memorable experience for me.

In VF 5 I got to conqueror in less than 200 fights so the stuff got boring real fast, compared to my 3000+ matches with multiple chars in 4 and evo.

On the other hand, if the ranking system in VF 5 were similar to that of VF 4 or Evo, it'd be near impossible to rank up efficiently online, as it's hard to find players with the same rank as you. It'd be sad to see a 3rd dan with 3000 W's and 13 L's.

to adjust your rank, you gotta play folks within 0-3 ranks of your own. playing heads with the same rank as you will adjust your gauge the most.

and when you reach master rank you gotta murk 5 10th dan's in a row. if you lose to 1 of them you de-rank back to 10th dan

 

Its design to stop abusers. You cannot be a 1st Dan and beat up on raider because your good already and just got the game. Imagine a Pro just playing VS online and he's a 1st kyu and he's destroying Avengers. He would be the highest without really earning it. On a points system yeah if he beating quality opponent yeah.


You get more of your Gauge by fighting your Current class.
You can recieve a decent amount if you battle someone 1 notch above you or below. So don't go around picking battles with Avengers, Raiders or the Packers cause the Risk is not worth the reward in Bar terms.

 

That's dumb, I don't care if I just got the game. If I entered a tournament and beat the champion guess what? I'm the MOTHERFUCKING CHAMPION.

I always thought you should get rank points according to who you beat. Anything
else is just forcing a MMORPG style grind.

I don't understand the ones who complain about the rank system. Please explain how it doesn't work? If you win consistently you get promoted and if you lose you get demoted. If you are stuck on a particular rank, disregarding those that purposely aim to stay at that rank, then you are obviously having trouble advancing.

So please elaborate on how the system is somehow broke?

 

the system isn't broke... it's just that everyone put in a lot of work to get high ranks and now they are hiding like cockroaches when you turn the lights on making rank play extremely dull at the moment. I'm alway in rank trying to find someone with similar rank to play, but I can never find anyone. Believe me I get no enjoyment beating up Kyus or the same people over and over again. I honestly would host more games, but due to my high rank I only attract Japanese, Korean, or other players from regions which are just to far away to make the match enjoyable. I know there are a few people out there with decent to very high ranks, but they are dodging like no tomorrow and try to justify it with by saying crap like "oh I have more fun in player match!" I agree player match is great as I do it a lot too, but ranking could be so much better if everyone just manned up. Personally I think ranked matches are a better training tool than player match because something is on the line and you don't want to lose it. This forces you to play much more seriously and helps you learn how to adapt faster. I know for one when I do player matches, if my opponent is not competent enough for me to use tricks or strategies then I just play on auto pilot and rarely TE and such. Once I see through there pattern usually Akira is moving and attacking, but trust me my brain is ZZzzzzzz-ing as I day dream about stroking myself or what I am going to cook for dinner. With all that said, I think Jhow77 has a wonderful idea, but I think in the end it will be a waste of time if people don't man up and come out of hiding put there ranks on the line. It's meant to be raised or lowered people that's why it's called a rank. How can you consider yourself a high level player or believe you deserve the rank you have if you won't put it on the line. It's also fine if you have a high rank because you are simply just that good and you happen to not care about rank. You still can contribute to making the experience exciting for everyone. I hate losing matches in rank, but it's funny as hell to lose to a random Kyu or someone who I normally beat a lot and then they message me something like "GG's" or "I finally got you Konjou!" Sure I am upset I lost, but that gets over shadowed by the joy I get from knowing how happy that other person is.
