I mis-spoke then, it is a different throw that LA was trying to set up. Cool nonetheless.

That Jacky is slick. I sometimes rock a similar outfit, but no camo pants. (And you made quick order of that Shun =Q)

Following up earlier post, I meant the handstand throw not back-throw as well lol.

The camo pants look great, but dude, what's Guile without his Somersault? I was waiting for it, but no somersault!? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

If you don't, just stay in Japan. You won't be welcome here. A summersault-less Guile is so anti-American.

I posted this in another thread as well...

One of the 3 final characters for knockout trial 2 in the bermuda area is brad wearing costume E. Once you beat all groups under special it also unlocks costume E for the character you played through the game with. Beating all areas up until bermuda gives you a new semi rare item which was "shinigami meiku" or "god of death makeup".

Heres a match VS SHU in the first official open battle.

    Tourney Results....

Itazan won, Koedo got second showing up 2 hours late and mukki got 3rd. They all had enormous win streaks. Itazan around 30, Koedo like 35 or 36 and Mukki around 26.

Nice match! Seeing Shun in shorts is a bit weird though /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Can you describe what the Open Battle was like? This is one of the new things in Ver.D right? Was it easy to get involved in? Open to anyone? How long did it last? What was the atmosphere like? If you'd rather post this stuff in the Ver.D thread (or both), that would be cool!

    Sorry for all the questions!

Ok Myke asked you 6 questions, that means we have 14 left!

Do your placings in these show up on your stats? Like show X amount of tournaments played, X amount won sorta thing?

Great match vs. Shu. I'm digging that outfit E.

    Cool matches /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbs_up.gif

one question though: how are you able to do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif when your opponnent is down?! I always end up doing the ground hit /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cry.gif

    Very nice stuff against Shu.

So Brad's new costume is finally a true pirate outfit, its so hard to make the saber and eyepatch make any real sense with the current four...

    sontawila:
Hold /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif and then press /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. Prefferable to /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df_.gif during the animation of another move, then go /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif when that one ends. A lot of characters have combo's that require this technique btw.

Open battle is the new tournament style ranking mode in version D. Basically, the arcade sets the date and time of the open battle as they would a regular tournament but no brackets or registration is needed. All the machines in that arcade automatically switch to open battle mode for the duration of the tourney. It also doesnt matter if you show up late and you can jump in anytime you want and play at your own pace. I'm not sure exactly how the ranking system works but I believe you are awarded more points for beating higher ranked players in the tournament regardless of their kyu or dan ranking. For example, lets say player A has 2 Wins and Player B Has 10 wins and then player C is deciding which person to challenge. Well, if player C beats player B, he will get alot more points then beating player A though player A might be easier to beat since he only has 2 wins rather than 10. In the end, the player with the highest amount of points wins and although win streaks surely play a part in getting to the top, they dont mean too much if you are only beating players with a lower tournament ranking. I believe all ranks receive tournament points and the top winners get some sort of special prize like items or whatnot. I'm dont know for certain.

Aside from the mechanics of open battle, a few of us really feel that this was a great move on segas part to generate more interest in the game. Last week I went to club sega akihabara on a friday night and even though there were about 15-17 people there playing, it was certainly not as many during the summer. There were 153 participants in Open battle tonight and thats the best turnout ive heard of in a long time. Granted, Version D is new and alot of people might have simply wanted to try it out, I really think the format of open battle really keeps it accessible for the serious tournament player as well as the casual VFer that just wants to play good people. With a standard tournament system, the brackets need to be setup beforehand which requires all the players to show up before the event starts. Also, the amount of machines that will be used in the tournament is set and if there are alot of other machines in that particular arcade, chances are they will almost all be on attract mode since the tournament players are all waiting for their next match and probably dont want to play casually in between. This might completely suck for the guy who comes late to the tournament or the guy who doesnt really pay attention to when tournaments are being held and just decides he wants to go play somewhere on a friday night. Even though club sega akihabara has 23 vf5 machines, I was still waiting a good 5-7 minutes to play since there were so many people.

I'm a bit confused here. If i hold /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df_.gif and then press /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif the move wont come out because it have to be /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif so instead of doing the nprmal move i always end up getting the ground hit which share the same execuation (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif)

I might not be doing what you were suggeting exactly cuase I dont fully understand it. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif
