I have updated the earlier post with links to some more vids and i'll be out of tokyo for the next 2 days so I wont be updating anymore until then.
Also, I guess its a good time to mention that this morning Shou and I met Itazan for an official local tournament at club sega akihabara. I got taken out the first round by a pretty strong goh player and although I lost, it really could have gone either way as I was going about 50/50 with the guy in practice matches before the tourney. Shou got to the second round but got taken out by the same goh player as well so after the tourney, which koedo won btw, shou and I just HAD to get the goh player back. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
I saved one of the revenge matches and will upload it as soon as I can.

Unfortunately, you can't say it "coulda gone both ways due to casuals". Cmon now, you yourself should know that only the tourney is where it really counts. That's where everyone puts out their best, ace game. Especially with Japan rules where it is win or go home, one match, over.

 

Well, I guess you can say in the tournament is where it really counts but he wasn't playing different from the practice sessions and if you play vf here, you'll realize its always cutthroat no matter if its a tourney or not tourney. I've yet to see anyone in club sega just put money in and play kindly or fool around. It just doesnt happen like that over here. During the tourney which I should have saved, it was down to the last round and all depended on who guessed a 2p or an eteg where. He guessed right twice and he won. Thats VF5 and even though I would have liked to have won, I understand how the game works and walked over to the guy, told him good game and shook his hand. End of story. I don't understand how it couldn't have gone either way, honestly. If I got dominated, then yes, maybe he was sandbagging and letting the gaijin win in regualr play but that was not the case.

 

I havent played akira seriously sincde vf3. I got too many complaints and switched to shun as my main in that game. Also, there are like 5 akira players in LA an theres really no need for 6 imo. I keep the L A Akira name because i've been using it since 95 and some of the magazines I used to write for such as GameFan and GamersRepublic have me credited as "L A Akira".

 

That was a neck and neck match, looks like you had a good strategy by the last round.

People would say I suck and the only reason im winning is DLC. Therefore I picked up shun as my main and when I won with him I was just being a 'cheap turtle'.

 

I feel you but still, kinda silly to switch chars because of complaints like that no?

That last match was awesome. I agree with GodEater, nice setup and try for that backturned throw. Shame it didn't connect but it was still fresh.

 

I personally liked the comeback in the third round and the sabaki on Lei Fei's dash punch (I hate that move) in the fourth. Good fun to watch.
