After years and years of 2d, VF4 and VF5 brought me into the world of 3d fighting; unfortunately, I still only pledge my support to VF series. As an arcade attendant, I still SC and Tekken are silly series. Even if VF5R was a specific pre-order only through Sega for a limited time deal for $150 special edition that comes with a silly not so great bonus gift, I'd buy 2 of them, just to have an extra to lend out to people.

Release this for the fans worldwide, and bring the SEGA believers back to life. We're always waiting.

I remember as a kid seeing Virtua Fighter One in the Arcade and knowing for a fact then and there that I was living in the future. There was no way something so incredible could exist in world where flying cars were not far behind.

Today there are still no flying cars by this game has exceeded my childhood expectations in ways I could never had imagined. Please bring VF5 home so that people like me, who live states away from decent arcades can enjoy living is such an age of wonders.

Please bring Virtua Fighter 5R to home consoles.

As a kid, I remember going to the arcades and trying out Virtua Fighter 1 because it looked so cool. Who didn't want to pick Kage and play a ninja right? Well, the game looked better than it played. At least, that's what I thought at the time. Being a young kid I didn't give it another shot until much later, when I wasn't so much a kid anymore. Later on when the Dreamcast was released I bought Sonic Adventure and later on, just as a whim also purchased Virtua Fighter 3tb. Well, as they say the rest is history.

I know that I am not the best player, far from it in fact; However, I have followed this series and have played it and truly enjoyed it since Virtua Fighter 3tb was released. At that time I discovered a wonderful fighting game that was unlike anything else out there in the market. Graphically, the game looked wonderful. More important than that however, it played very well. I played and enjoyed every moment.

It came as little surprise that I fell in love with the series and began playing it since. Having purchased 3tb, buying Virtua fighter 4 on the PS2 was without question something that was now necessary for me to do. When the rebalanced and improved upon Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution was released, this too was bought. This game however, held within a masterful training mode the likes of which has not since been seen again.

It was through this mode that I truly began to understand that this game had so much more to it than I had previously ever thougt. I began to little by little work with this mode reading, and learning each aspect of the game. It felt as if the previous two games I had bought were never truly played...properly, at least. So much there was to learn and to master that it was overwhelming. Still, I could not stop and so I kept practicing, studying, learning, and eventually applying this to each match I played with my brother, friends, and even the computer.

This is where I encountered, and learned how not just Virtua Fighter, rather fighting games in general can be so loved by the players. With every little item that I learned and with every little step that I took towards knowledge and mastery, my skill in turn improved. Suddenly, reaction and simply pressing buttons had taken a back seat to knowledge and thought. Each movement, each action, needed a reason and purpose to be sucessful against another player. This thought in hindsight is simple and almost elementary to many people out there. However, I could not see it without first having experienced it. This is something that was taught to me be Virtua Fighter. It is to this day something that will not be forgotten.

Fast forward to the release of Virtua Fighter 5 on the Xbox 360. I knew that without question this game would not fail to meet my expectations for quality. Even then I knew that having the highest of expectations for such a brilliant series may in fact be too little. Upon purchase I come to find that indeed all of my expectations have been surpassed. Not only that, however the online code included within the game was simply astounding. Not only has this series now shown to me so much; it has now taken the next step and has allowed for me to meet more players than I could ever hope to have met within my area.

Now the ability was given to not just myself, but other players who share that passion, and desire, to play against each other to share that knowledge and provide for each other competition to further improve. So many players from other areas of the country I could never play were now online waiting, searching for a match. To say that this was amazing may again be an understatement, as now I was introduced to players who were not only better but superior in every which way possible. Once again I knew that my knowledge and understanding needed to increase further; and with that my skill.

However, by this time my thoughts about the game had change. No longer was this challenge, these players, all of this may have been overwhelming to me intially it was now... fun. Thinking again in hindsight I can now clearly see why I could not stop reading and learning everything that I did back then when playing through Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution; Because it IS fun. To learn, adapt, prepare, and sometimes even struggle is all apart of the road that I took to become a better player. Little by little once again I started to overcome the new obstacles before me and the players that had previously seemed to be unbeatable were now struggling against me. Satisfaction instantly overtook me and happily I played on.

It was at this time that as great a game Virtua Fighter 5 is, the players that were online eventually started to die down. Each week, eventually even each day, it had become more difficult to find a fight online. Unfortunately, my friends have moved on to other games, and so the players were no longer there. Perhaps the online players have since moved on to other games, maybe even moved on to another aspect of their lives. The matches, the excitement given to me was something that I could not get away from. However, as unfortunate as it is, this choice is one that I could not make or influence... Sadly, I could no longer enjoy the game that had given to me so much. It's been a long while since I've last played online...

On February 14, 2008 the announcement of 5R was made. Wow is all I could think; Here we go again, one more time.

However, it seems that our wait as fans, of such an extraordinary series is without merit. There have been no plans nor annoucement of the series to be brought to those of us outside of Japanese arcades. Instead, we wait and continue to play the wonderful however outdated it may be Virtual Fighter 5 Revision C. I have seen and even subscribed to many Youtube channels to watch and enjoy players play the game I wish to one day enjoy along with them together.

We support this series because it has given plenty to all of us; Countless hours of joy and fun. We support this series despite not being able to play 5R. Many of us don't believe that 5R will ever be played outside of Japan. When Kamaage posted here many players myself included, now once again are making the effort to show you that we are still waiting, wanting to play. Perhaps this struggle is in vain; Maybe nothing will change.

Just like those days that have passed me where learning and studying was a challenge to overcome; where improving to best other players was a challenge...this too falls upon the Virtua Fighter community as a challenge to go ahead and show you Sega that your series is not just loved by Japan but is truly loved by the world. We write and will continue to write until you read these words and understand that our love for this game should be rewarded. I have taken the time to write this because maybe just maybe this will allow for a home port to finally be made. I for one will gladly buy Virtua Fighter 5R should it be released, PS3 or Xbox 360.

Come on Sega give all of us here writing one more round.

I've been playing Virtua Fighter since I was about 4 years old. I have played and owned every Virtua Fighter games, especially Fighters Megamix on the Sega Saturn. The only VF I haven't played yet is Virtua Fighter 5 R. It's also so sad that the VF community is slowly dying soon in the western community, and releasing VF5R on to the 360 and PS3 will keep the community alive and well.

Virtua Fighter is like the Forza Motorsport of Fighting Games: Realistic fighting.

First off, I'd like to thank The Fighter's Generation for posting the info about this petition on their website!

    Dear Sega,

While I might not have always played Virtua Fighter when I was young, I was always aware of the significance it has had in the overall gaming industry. Virtua Fighter was revolutionary in being the first fully 3-D fighting game ever and, as the series grew, it constantly pushed the boundaries more and more on what the series was capable of.

My very first Virtua Fighter game was Virtua Fighter 4 on the PS2. It opened my eyes to a new style of fighting game in which the represented styles were accurately presented for the players to take control of. My main character at the time was Kage-Maru with my secondary being Lau Chan. It was very fun to play through the game before I hit the "ceiling" multiple times in the game where I couldn't progress without several more hours of practice.

My next Virtua Fighter game was the successor of Virtua Fighter 4, Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution, which I had gotten as a Christmas present the year it came out. This game also caught the interest of my brother due to the different characters, the changes to the movesets from Virtua Fighter 4, and the introduction of Goh Hinogami and Brad Burns. While my brother mained as Akira, Aoi, and Brad, I mained as Kage-Maru, Lau, and Goh, with both of us completely finishing out our characters' ranks and item collection, winning every in game tournament in Quest Mode with our prospective character. We were practicing as some other character when suddenly, Virtua Fighter 5 was announced, the trailer debuting at E3.

We got Virtua Fighter 5 for our PS3 and our jaws hit the floor. Wow had everything changed! Most of the old combos no longer worked, the mechanics were more realistic, and all of our favorite characters received an overhaul. My brother immediately went back to Akira, his changed stance and his movement-oriented fighting this time around catching his interest as he practiced until he had learned even the hardest of Akira's combos. As for me, Goh snagged me once again, myself practicing to make him an effective grappler as well as a striker as he had been outfitted to be in this game. Once again, we both managed to 100% our respective characters. Then, one day, early in the morning, I got up the courage to challenge my brother in a set of matches to see who between the two of us could best each other in Virtua Fighter 5, both of us sticking to our current favs, Akira and Goh. The fight results were telling, his Akira beating my Goh about 13 matches to my 6 matches. While I didn't exactly come out the winner, I put up a respectable showing against my brother, a very skilled Akira user, and was able to walk away proud of it. We would often poke fun at each other for the fight and some of the mess ups during the fight, but never before have we actually taken a fighting game and the both of us play against each other. We've only ever done that with Virtua Fighter 5.

And now, Virtua Fighter 5R, re-introducing Taka Arashi and bringing in the new character, Jean Kujo. As gameplay vids were made availible on Youtube, we would often flock to the computer screen, watching the newest fight vids and more and more, we were impressed with how, once again, the fighters had changed and the abilities of Jean and Taka. Several of the new moves left us both jaw-dropped as we stared in awe. However, as time passed, we were more and more disappointed at the lack of a US release, let alone a console release. We began to surmise, "Why not? Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution was released on consoles AND in North America and it also added two new characters". By depriving fans of Virtua Fighter 5 R, not only are they being shafted from, what appears to be, the best Virtua Fighter to date, but you are also taking away a piece of the storyline in the Virtua Fighter timeline, as the introduction of the two new characters greatly affects the storyline in general i.e. What Goh and Brad did in Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution.

As huge Virtua Fighter fans, my brother and I both ask Sega to release Virtua Fighter 5 R to, at the very least, the PS3. We have greatly enjoyed every Virtua Fighter game we've played and would love for the next game to be released on the consoles to enjoy the game personally, rather than to sit by and watch Youtube videos all day. We would also like to thank Sega and Kamaage for giving us this opportunity to add to a worthy cause in video gaming. Thank you for reading!

    Dear Sega

I'm a newcomer in Virtua Fighter serie and in versus fighting games, because I have really start to play at this kind of game with VF5.

I play since only one year, and I'm very fascinating by gameplay and possibilities of VF.
I want VF5R on console, because this version is so impressive visually, that she can only attract people. And like the gameplay is impressive also...

    Dear Sega,

I've been a Virtua Fighter fan since I was 5 years old. I didn't know it when I was young, but I loved it. I played the Virtua Fighter Series for years, so has my sister. I'm not good at it, but I still love it. I want Vf5R on the console, because the graphics are really Impressive. I've seen awsome vids of VF5R, and I am so hyped about it. If you could Sega, it would be cool to have on the PS3/360. You have lots of fans in the west that love Virtua Fighter. If you do this, they will come out and buy VF5R. I Know I would.

My message to Sega: I remember back when I first got my Sega Saturn. I had three games for it: Virtua Cop, Virtua Fighter 2, and some racing game. I played all three a lot at first but after a while I only played 1. It was Vitrua Fighter. I live in a small town in Northwestern Illinois, so there is no arcade scene anywhere near me. Even in Chicago the scene is small (compared to cities of similar size) so I only had my dad and sisters to play. I destroyed my sisters (I couldn't lose to them right?), but I had a hard a hard time ever beating my dad. So I played all the time by myself, practicing against the computer, until I eventually even started o beat him every time we played. Ever since then, I've never looked back. Dreamcast I played VF3, PS2 I played VF4 and VF4 Evolution, and now on my PS3 I play VF5. As I said there is no Arcade scene any where near me, so if this isn't released on a console I'll never get to play it, and that would end a really good streak I have going.

i started with virtual fighter2 back on sega saturn, my favorite was and still is wolf, cool character, his move where he grabs you
by the legs, swings you around, and throws ya is what put him on top of my list for favorites of this series. even though wolf isn't the fastest character, being able to time it right has lead me to plenty of victories. i didn't get to play vf3, but i did get vf4 evolution, so fun. i still plan on getting vf5, but i really want to see vf5 R, especially if it has a gallery
    mode.

    Hi Sega,

Please bring the series to both the PS3 and XBOX360. VF5:R deserves a port to these consoles. It feels different enough from the original VF5. I would gladly buy it in a heartbeat. I have been a fan of the series for many years. VF2 on the saturn was my first VF game, and I have never looked back since. I am also a fighting game fan in general. I like most fighting games with VF at the top of my list. Please bring an arcade perfect port to both consoles. The fighting game scene exploded in 2009, and fans have been willing to try new fighting games provided that they are good, and VF is a quality game that is deep. I am sure a lot of fans would embrace and respect the series. If you guys don't want to release it on disc, it would not harm releasing it on PSN or XBL marketplace as a DLC.

    Dear Sega,

I'm currently at the age of 20. I've grown up watching my brothers play Virtua Fighter 2 on the PC with each other, I occasionally joined in and we had fun even when I only know how to mash the Punch. I have not knew the depth of this fighter series until I've met it again in the last few years. When VF5 came out.

I enjoyed the fact that no matter how much I learn about the game, there's still more. As well as the fact that when I do learn more about the game, I also need to practice it until it is branded into my memory. Over the years, I would look back at the time when I was a kid playing with my brothers, and wonder why would I play such an immensely complex game. I've only realized now, because I'm older, that my enjoyment was with the fact that the game has an immense depth that sucks you in. The satisfaction when you pull off each and every move perfectly, that momentary triumph when you've done a reversal, the feeling of being pressured or pressuring others, each and every one of these moments are moments that I enjoy and cherish now.

I look back and I feel silly, but now, as a grown man, I have found the joy in the machinations that makes Virtua Fighter so great. The immense depth, the rewarding and signature thud and pows of the falls and punches, the characters' quirks and personalities themselves. Everything came together for this amazing package.

When VF5 came out, everytime I went over to my friend's place to play it. I would enjoy it immensely, much more so than the other games that I also play with him like SFIV and more recently BlazBlue. When I lose in VF5, it makes me realize that I have much more to learn and practice, I keep going. But it was my friend and not me that has lost interest because of the lack of updates. We would look at the beautiful accessories for Pai and Eileen and keep ourselves wishful that it would one day come to our consoles. Soon we had less and less hope. We would sign petitions but the news was scarce. Seeing this happening, that Sega is willing to give us a chance to tell our stories, is reason enough for us to keep fighting. Just as I will keep fighting in Virtua Fighter, for Virtua Fighter.

Please bring Virtua Fighter to the consoles once again. Onegaishimasu.

We'll have 500 pages in no time. Thanks Kamaage. Let's hope that this is somewhat the last letter that I'll have to write about Virtua Fighter. For good or for worse. *Teary Eyes*

    Dear Sega,

I was originally a Tekken-centric fighting game fan. I toyed with Virtua Fighter 1&2 for awhile when they first came out, but wasn't that serious about it. Everything changed, however, when Virtua Fighter 5 was released on the PS3. I'd heard so much acclaim for it that It was the first game I bought for my PS3 (even before my beloved Tekken 5 DR). I enjoyed the deep fighting system, and played quite a bit with my friends. For months it was the only PS3 title I felt the need to own, and when it was rereleased on Xbox 360 with online play, I quickly went out and bought that too. Around that time I came across VFDC, and promptly joined. It's opened my eyes to 1) how large and dedicated the fanbase really was, and 2) exactly how deep Virtua Fighter (as a game) is.
When Virtua Fighter 5 R was released in arcades (in japan), I watched all the videos I could of it, anxiously awaiting the day it would release stateside on console(s). I believe it would be nearly criminal to keep such a great game from your fans. I implore you to seriously consider releasing Virtua Fighter 5 R on consoles. It would be a waste of a very dedicated fanbase if you did not.

    Dear Sega,

I've been a video game fan my whole life, and one of my favorite types of games are fighting games for their competitive nature against other players. Of all the different types of fighting games Virtua Fighter comes out on top for me. No other game is so competitive and offers so much enjoyment than VF.

Having been playing fighting games for a long time, I only heard of the early VF through the arcades many years ago; then I totally forgot about the game. Not until VF5 Online did I start to play, and already has become one of my favorite games of all time. And that's after I've been playing Street Fighter and Tekken for a long time.

Please release VF5R so that we may continue to enjoy what many believe to be the pinnacle of fighting games. Thanks.

Hi, Sega. Long time Sega fan, VF player, and fighting game enthusiast. I got into the game at VF4: arcades here were going through the same slow death that they're in now, but I was lucky enough to find an active local scene that was really enthusiastic about the game, even going so far as to pay for the machine themselves when VF4's upgrades came out. We really cherished the game.

I bought an Xbox 360 solely to play VF5 online: the other stuff could come later. I wasn't disappointed in any way. I got my money's worth out of that game. I played thousands of matches online, bought all the DLC, went to events with my fellow VF players, and had a great time.

When VF5R came out, things changed a little. When a game gets an upgrade in the Japanese arcades, a lot of overseas players, myself included, lose a bit of motivation to keep playing the obsolete version. For the most part, there is no arcade to rush out to and play at.

I didn't even bother learning anything about VF5R or watching videos online: when I did watch something, the game looked so great that it was actually depressing how much fun I was missing out on. There was no point continuing to be a fan in this environment. There was a wave of new, fresh fighting games coming, sparked by Street Fighter IV, so eventually I just moved on.

Around the release of Tekken 6, I was bumping into my old VF friends a lot at Chinatown Fair arcade, one of the last places for arcade fans in my area to hang out. As we watched people play Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, Marvel, Melty Blood-- everything but Virtua Fighter-- I would say, feeling resigned to it, that I was just going to have to take up Tekken.

Now Tekken is a fine game, but I knew then (and I know now, having become pretty experienced with T6), that it just wasn't on the same level as VF. The more I play of Tekken 6, the more I wish I was playing VF again. Their dress-up feature doesn't even compare! But it didn't matter: Namco had a Tekken 6 machine in our arcade, Namco had a Tekken 6 home release coming. By contrast, Sega seemed not to want our continued business. The VF5R machine doesn't even function outside of Japan! What else was there to do?

To be completely honest with you, I have considered VF outside of Japan to be a lost cause since the first time Sega made its apathy about a console port of VF5R known. I understand the logic behind the decision (and I've typed all this out before), and I do not expect the situation to change.

That doesn't make me happy about it. When I saw that the fans were trying to get VF5R put out on consoles again (might I recommend a direct-download release?), I felt obligated to put in a word, again, on our behalf. We may be a very niche audience, but that doesn't mean we deserve to be abandoned outright. If it keeps up like this, even the few VF fans there still are won't be around to sing its praises when the next game comes. Personally, I sing Blazblue's praises these days.
