It was a very interesting convention.
I wanted the last to win HERURU. Regrettable! The tenacity of HERURU was uncanny. Although my anticipation was carrying out championship anticipation of ARASHI or YOROKAGE, it was big surprise that ARASHI disappeared by the first game.
My best games are OOSUAKIRA vs homestay AKIRA and HERURU vs homestay AKIRA. The comeback after HERURU is cornered. Threat-counterattack after losing two rounds! Final advance following TOUGEKI which was not expected.
      Each considers the No.1 rival.
Rival confrontation of OOSU and a homestay.

      Title specially.. DAIHAOU ......?????
SHINJUKU Jackie vs IKEBUKUROSARA performed on the way. KYASAO vs BUNBUNMARU. Sega newly made having been used in this game. The work of VFEVO etc. is programmed on the system of VF1. That is, various work is connected, in order for there to be neither UKEMI nor NAGENUKE nor a salmon and for there to be neither work nor reaction after receiving a blow. Furthermore, the nostalgic large jump kick also existed. It was said that there was no sale schedule for the moment. When he wanted to hold a convention in summer, one of the developers had said. From April 26 this month to May 5, "SHIBUYA VIRTUA HAKU" is performed in a high-tech land Shibuya store. This was also performed last year. I think that 100-person sparring etc. is performed every day. Furthermore, a convention will also be held. Moreover, VF put on the market in the past can be put in order and waging war will be held.

Furthermore, gratitude from the bottom of heart to Sega which performed very high quality live distribution without the way piece also at once!

Wow kamen, what is this again?
Is this on special vf.net EVO machines in japan? Or are you saying this is available for the home? Virtua Fighter 1 style fighting with no throw escapes, no quick rise, and no tech roll? Where can I see this?

I'm the one who downloaded the whole thing into one 811MB file...

Currently uploading to Namflow and SuperGolden, apparently it will be hosted at some point tomorrow or the day after... Will probably have it uploaded to either BMW or another friend of Myke's soon.

The file itself is (like CreeD said) completely unindexed. Meaning that it cannot be watched in anything but Windows Media Player 9 and cannot be edited or converted in any conventional ways.. I hope that one day I can take this massive 4 and a 1/2 hour file and make it smaller (lol).. and maybe put some captions into it.. but without someone with a capture card and some creativity i don't know when this will happen.

Kamen: Isn't Ohsu originally from Nagoya as well? That would explain their rivalry a bit... Homestay still lives here (^^)
I was sad for Arashi, too. He sure does have a lot of fans, though! Everybody seemed very disappointed when he lost.
I was hoping the last match would have been Heruru vs. Yoro Kage. I think that would have been very interesting to watch!

CreeD: What kamen speaks of is the special version of VF Ikebukuro Sarah and Shinjuku Jacky (as well as Kyasao and BunBun) were playing - Virtua Fighter 1 Evolution. I thought it might have been a hidden mode in VF4E PS2 but apparently it's a special version AM2 made just for fun. Basically, VF4 characters and moves in the VF1 engine, complete with retro graphic styling. I hope they give it out to the public SOMEHOW. (I think it'd make a great freebie at E3 ^^)

Everyone seems so disappointed to see Minami Akira make it all the way. I watched the whole thing and to be honest his play was absolutely stellar. His Akira was tighter and a lot more fun to watch than either Homestay's or Ohsu's. Perhaps Yoro had a bad match but Minami completely smoked him. Even the finals against Heruru were somewhat one-sided. Yeah yeah, he made a slight comeback in the second match, and that was very exciting but the rest of the time he couldn't really get anything going. Minami's movement was beautiful and his fuzzy guarding was also excellent. Truly stellar Akira work.

Now, I don't play in Japan and I don't know the behind-the-scenes opinions on certain players but from I saw (a completely unbias viewpoint) Minami was the best player that day, hands down. His title shows for it now. Nice to have someone who *we've* never heard of win stuff like this - gives us more exposure to the Japanese scene and keeps from drooling over the same 7 or 8 players all the time.

      cheers,

Very true. There are a lot of excellent Japanese players who most of us simply do not know about because they don't have much Internet exposure. Most of the Western impressions of JP players come from movies and such, so if a player isn't on the internet somewhere, we probably don't know them. Go to High-Tech Shibuya and Nishi-Spo on a good night and you'll see lots of very strong players that you have never heard of before.

According to Bearcrusher (Kurita's GF and all around cool Pai player), Minami is actually fairly well known in Japan. Most of us here didn't even know who he was until this tournament. That just makes me even more sad that the Japanese and Western VF communities aren't better connected.

I kinda wish baiagu would've done better. He was playing in a team tourney a few days before kakutou shinseiki 2. I watched him in the tourney and he was just brutal. Oh well.

      To Creed
the (unusual VF1) -- I think that I cannot use now
Moreover, I do not think that it is hidden into PS2VFEVO. If hidden, I think that the directions were announced in yesterday's convention. Because, in VFEVO of PS2, since there was very few sale than anticipation of Sega, the soft price has fallen considerably from price now. Supposing such a hiding element is contained, the direction announced a little early will think that it is a best policy. A softer price will also fall and, the more the number which appears on the market to a used market will also increase, the more it becomes late. For the reason, I think that the unusual VF1 cannot be played now. Moreover, it also regards a possibility of being put on the market alone as low. If it is this number of sale in VFEVO of PS2 into which only that put various elements, I cannot think that Sega is going to sell unusual VF1.

If this result is the number of sale in not PS2 but XBOX, or a game cube, when Sega also transplants to PS2, the element of VF1 which changed together may be put in and sold. However, since the number of sale in PS2 is as a result, I think that a possibility that a transplant will be performed is also low. The mistake may be made in however, having a possibility of being hidden in PS2VFEVO, since this is my guess to the last. Supposing it may play, the end of this month may be able to carry out a SHIBUYA VIRTUA HAKU play. In theSHIBUYA VIRTUA HAKU , a title scramble is held specially a female limited convention and character exception. With it, the first game of 2on2 by Sega of a big scale is also held in this SHIBUYA VIRTUA HAKU on May 4. More players to Tokyo than KAKUTOUSHINSEIKI 2 will visit, since the convention of the maximum [ 5 / May ] of VF and a beat live cup are performed.

      To Zero-chan
It does not know whether OOSU changed compared with the time of Nagoya. However, since SARA was practiced towards TOUGEKI, AKIRA may not have been practiced so much. It is new, and since there was a command mistake several times, I think such.

no clue, minami akira did dblplm like 10-15 times a round

he's not really the most combo heavy akira.. doesn't go for big yoho shit like ohsu or mukki would.. but in this level play who would /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif

his movement is pretty fuckin sick tho.. that's all i can say... he gets so many opportunities just from setting himself up correctly position wise.. he probably avoided so much damage just because of his judging of range

Re: New Century Grapple 2 LIVE!

Minami just took the hint from the commentators that "if you start to watch heruru dance, you will die." You can clearly see that when ever heruru retreated back, minami simply applied more pressure to prevent him from dancing. I'd say he adapted really well, and obviously his "akira step" also added to his victories. Some of the other famous players just seemed to have choked pretty bad that day.

Where on earth were Segaru and Mukky ? I did not see them. Did they fail to qualify ?

Segaru made it to the finals last time doesn' he ?

Segaru I know failed to qualify. I don't know about Mukky, maybe he didn't even bother to enter the tourney. I would loved to see segaru in the tourney though.. too bad he wasn't in it this time.
