Can't you join a VF chat while playing on VFonline? I could of swore you can be on chat and play. Not that anyone does but...maybe
    I'm wrong.

I think I've sort of done that. I was on chat and then started a game with the person I was chatting with. We could still talk. It would be crazy if I was chatting and joined someone else with a mic and then could hear BOTH of them.

IMHO it is not necesseray to *punish* people for quitting: sometimes xboxes hang or isps reset or lightning strikes or sth. Nobody should be penalized for that. I know *i* didn't like it when my GF accidentally tripped over the network cables and got me disconnected.

HOWEVER, what *should* be done is keep track of all the times somebody quit in a ranked match. Records should become something like this: Wins %, Losses %, Disconnects %.

    The result would be two-fold:

First, we recognize pullers: being high-ranked with "300 wins 2 losses 1432 disconnects" is rather fishy. It doesn't give bragging rights either so it actually deters people from pulling.

Second, we recognize people with bad connections: mediocre rank, "300 wins, 230 losses, 127 disconnects" probably means it's some dude from a country with a lousy connection. Say Greece /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

Online Vs Offline play- Obviously, offline play is better. Unless we start seeing major advancements in internet connections soon, there will always be lag. However, I think lag is used as an "excuse" for people losing online more often than not. If you lose to a player online 20 times in a row, then chances are you are going to lose to them offline as well. If not, I can guarantee it would be a close fight. Then again, who's to say the other player wouldnt be better offline as well?

Virtua Fighter Online Options- IMO (and opinion it is) VF is 10 times deeper than DOA in terms of gameplay. Because of this, I'll always pick VF over DOA. However, VF's online options suck balls compared to DOA!! Wouldn't it be cool to be in a room with like ten people from this site at once, all chatting watching eachothers fights? We could set up tournaments easily!! Tag battles (it's worth a try) Detailed record keeping of all your battle statistics. (in case no ones played DOA4, you can view every player you've fought, how many times you've lossed/won against them, etc) Hell, people on this site were excited when we got a replay option for player match.

This a great idea erdrag. If it tracked your disconnects there wouldn't be as much point in doing it because it would belie your ultimate cheapness.

What if it lowered your rank for disconnects, like certain higher ranks aren't achievable with lower win percentages, so you can't get higher ranks with a large number of disconnects either. That way the disconnects themselves are prohibitive to gaining ranks...

You are the man lol! You saying what i been trying to get across all along. DOA Online mode was thought out properly. Just the fact alone you have no choice but to play ranked is lovely along with Vs stats.

seriously, what part of it is 'lovely'? It is a fucking stupid limitation. When I was playing doa4 online I had like 5 friends each with different ranks. Playing them either resulted in their ranks dropping fast or mine. You couldn't play to try something out, train certain things with each other or just play for fun unless you wanted to totally screw up your ranking. What part of that is lovely? It wasn't 'thought out properly' whatsoever.

Not to mention it will make games laggier.

fancy online lobbby ala DOA = more lag = crappy fights < less than what it is now.

Damn you sound like a crybaby already.

Nobody cared about ranking because just like Virtua Fighter some of you Defenders and Warriors are trash.

Are you kidding me Oioron? Thats happens now even without 5 people in a lobby in Virtua. Aside from the game not being as "Techincal" as VF the Online Still knocks VF5 out the box no matter who the fuck complains. I would host a Room with about 4 or 5 people and my shit would run smoothly.

^ Only ran 'smoothly' cause the devs changed frames up for online. It's more of a trick and alteration to the fighting system than the actual connection.

Being able to send your recorded matches to each other would be nice.

I have some good matches recorded where I really busted my ass and played incredibly well and I can only really tell people about them as opposed to actually showing them.

I'd say both the DOA and VF online services have their ups and downs.

If I had to choose between offline and online id stick with online because in reality you're all probably twice my size and i'd be intimidated into losing.

Then you can... walk... around in that lobby... and do random emotes. So after seeing it once you'll immediatly skip the whole deal and join the game queue. There you will fight opponents of variable latency.

The main fun in the DOA online set up starts once you leave the cheezy ass lobby and actually begin fighting. It's cool to have multiple friends watching/competing/commenting on the same matches in real time.
It's also cool to be in a room with a bunch of noobs, and be top dog for 2 hours straight with like 8 people in the room!!
Of course, often times things get laggy with a lot of people-- it's off and on. When it comes down to it, I would prefer just two people per room versus some ultra laggy fights.
But if VF was able to support these extra features without lag-- it seems crazy IMO for someone to say "Nah that extra stuff is stupid".

Only good? It would be awesome!

Hmmm, makes me wonder, is there currently a way to transfer replays? Like, manually?

VF could have did the same thing also since it not the real "VF" in all lol! In roignal though that would be the case though. Online coding will never be perfect.

UHMMM yeah you do that. DOA Online System > VF5 Period.
