I think Jean's an interesting character, and a really good fit into the game. He's sort of the new simple VF-fundamentals character now that Jacky and Lau have gotten all stanced up and a little heavier on execution, but the charge cancels and a broad toolset give him some really good mind games too. His character design is absolutely tragic, but that's what customization is for.

I don't like Taka quite as much gameplay-wise. He's really powerful, and I actually kind of like the he-won't-fall gimmick, but there's something about him that doesn't really appeal to me. Maybe it's because all his animations are so similar because of the whole sumo thing. I do really like his design, though. There's something in the mocap that makes Taka look like he's really, really enjoying kicking your ass.

Taka-Arashi. I played E. Honda in Street Fighter and Ganryu in Tekken. I really like the Sumo style. Jean's look combined w/ what looks like a very generic style just doesn't interest me.

it's simply great that someone like Taka is in the game, but Jean is more appealing to me.

In terms of design there is nothing like in him in VF so far...he seems to cater to the goth / feminine "Visual Kei" fans (style that was uber popular in Japan through mid 80s-90s).

I always felt like VF had the proportions a bit off on most of their models, but in a good way...like they are all perfect with extra long limbs.

I'm saying it looks as if Sega took a normal person, zoomed out, and said here is a short person. Ofc, that doesn't work. A short man would have a normal-sized head, normal-sized hands, etc. El Blaze looks like you're looking at a normal man after being zapped by a shrink ray. And Jean has the opposite problem; he doesn't look like a tall man, he looks like a normal man seen through a magnifying glass.
