I've had a couple of Japanese players do that to me too.

Also I've had a few people overseas message me that the game was really laggy and to not connect to them again, but from my end it was hardly laggy and actually ran smoothly. Anyone know if it's possible for one person to experience a smooth match but the other person to have really bad lag? I guess it's possible that their definition of a laggy match is different from mine, but I find that hard to believe. I've been in enough matches to know what's laggy and what's playable, so either they are just being picky jerks, or there's a different experience for each player.

Well, some people have mention this already in this topic. I was playing a friend outside U.S and notice something like this, can't be sure until further testing.

In our player matches, he said the game was running really well for him, such that he can get his combos out without any problems. While I thought it was a bit laggy from my end, unable to pull off my combos (playing against others on a better connection and offline, I am able to do the combos).

We tried alternating who host the match to notice if there is a difference. Either way, he still did not notice anything different from his side. For me, there still felt some lag on my end, but hard to notice if there was a difference.

Thanks for the reply akai. It's good to know I'm not going crazy and someone else is experiencing the same problem. So I guess there's no winning in those situations. If I'm having a smooth match and the other guy isn't, there's no way I'm going to know about it unless they tell me, so of course I'm going to connect to them again if I didn't find anything wrong with our connection. But from their end they probably think I like playing laggy matches and probably use it to my advantage, when I'm not playing in a laggy match to begin with.

I guess the same thing has happened to me then. When I've been in really laggy matches, I guess there's a possibility that the other player had a smooth match so they saw nothing wrong with our game. When hosting, I've had some people connect to me multiple times in a row when our connection was horrible. Maybe they connected cause everything ran smoothly on their end, cause I don't see how anyone could want to play in matches as laggy as what I was experiencing.

Another thing to add is I've received messages from people who ask if they were lagging, but I found most weren't. So maybe it was lagging on their end but not on mine.

Weird... I've had several people I'm pretty sure were japanese challenge me multiple times in a row. Maybe it's just the arcade atmosphere... they're probably more used to stepping down after a single match, whereas the rest of the world plays on consoles, and keeps hitting rematch unless we're a tournament or something.

No, in Japanese arcades, from what I've seen, they will step up, walk around for a few seconds, then sit back down and replay the person if they see nobody goes to the machine. But I've seen the same person challenge one game maybe up to 6 or 7 times in a row and lose before leaving the arcade.

I came across one today. 'kissa224'. Master rank. Twice i was gonna beat him to promote to Master myself but he pulled right before. The first time i gave him the benefit of a doubt, but then it happened again. I guess there are japanese rank whores as well.
