Re: SoCal VF4:FT on Thursdays

Will AI get the new Gundam game? Hopefully I can give that a try too when I'm down there this weekend. This reminds me of one thing. Would anyone be willing to play at AI maybe on Friday? Since I want to make the meet at Plague's but also wants some FT action with the SoCal crew... If it's too much trouble to set it up, I'll just drop by maybe Sunday night or something. I'm planning to get to LA either Friday night or straight to Plague's on Saturday since I want to limit my car rental to 3-4 days. It would be too bad if I miss a chance to get FT action with the crew.

    SoCal VF4:FT on Thursdays

I'll be at AI on Thursday night to play Guitar Freaks with Glenn and then some VF:FT with SoCal players and Joe. I see no reason not to go back to AI on Friday night. Catherine says she's up for it, too.

Very cool that you're making it on Saturday night.

    aha! YEAH! Most excellent.

Looking forward to tonight. "You will not reverse my [4][6][P]!"

To everyone: Please bring TV's, PS2s, controllers, game discs, and power strips. I think it's always better to have more set-ups than we can use rather than not enough set-ups to go around. I know it can be a pain, and I think it's worth it in the end.

You know, I don't usually think about doing that. Kinda weird. Just doesn't come up. I'll see if people are into it. Maybe we'll record some tournament play.

Heh, don't worry. Neither do I. I was mainly talking about tournament play. Everyone knows that tourney footage is just icing on the cake. Keep awesome casual matches to yourselves and those that were willing to (able to) make it out to your place. If people complain "aw man, no casual?" that's TS - you should have been there. /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

    Much playing at Plague's House!

Big thank you to special guest Srider (this man drove from San Francisco just to play VF in SoCal for the weekend) plus SoCal favorites akiralove, andy, PhoenixDth, GoatCheeseBlues, SillyWilly, Brisal73, IronJUNKIE, and Nordic for coming out to Riverside. Four set-ups going full tilt at the height of the evening. We even saw some VF2 action! Catherine and I really enjoy hosting VF get-togethers. Hopefully there won't be another year till the next one.

Rumors waft in and out about FT on X-BOX (not the 360, mind you). Also, the grand event of VF5 on a console holds promise for get-togethers in the years to come.

Man, the get-together ended at about 7:30 am and I went to bed at 9 am this morning and woke up less than two hours later. Makes for an interesting frame of mind. Caffeine rocks.

Oh, yeah - God has slain many kittens. There are no replays. Mainly because there was no tournament. Things got into full swing a little too late for that. Even if we had saved some games, I still think the best way to experience a SoCal event is to just come to one.

    Thanks again,

    Talis

Great to hear that Joey(Betabow) is coming back. Watch for massive Lau and Kage action.

I hope things went well at AI on Sunday night with Srider. Hope to see him again soon.

Catherine and I will go to AI on Thursday night for the usual FT madness. Hope to see SoCal players there.

Nice to see the scene going strong. You guys are really making there a must visit for VF. Kudos to Srider for driving far and join in. You are serious, man.

As far as saving replays are concerned, it's something that's the easiest thing on the paper but almost impossible IRL as people just like to mash on the start button when they lose. =P

Re: Much playing at Plague's House!

Thanks guys for giving me a chance to play in SoCal. I'm happy to see all the familiar faces. I wish I could have stayed much longer. For those who wondered where I disappeared to, my gf was getting really sleepy so we went to look for a place to drop her off. Unfortunately, Anger Management Concert was taking place in L.A. that same weekend. So pretty much every hotel was fully booked. We had to drive really far to finally find one, by that time I had driven for more than 10 hours that day, so I was too worn out to play anymore. I'm sorry I disappeared like that.. Luckily I got some play time in the next day at AI, so it was a good time for me.

I thought it was funny that the moment people saw me everyone commented about my hair. Is it that big of a topic among NAVF players? It gave me some laughs. Also, I guess I realized at the gathering that I tend to not talk when I'm playing. I don't know if people felt offended or something. I'm just really focused and wanted to play as much as I can. Just want to make that clear so people understand. Playing in SoCal this time really made me realize I'm a true product of in-bred play. You guys all have a really good understanding of Advantage/Disadvantage system of VF, and mix up attack/throw well. I play against defensive oriented players most of the time, and I tend to rely mostly on attacks, as even Homestay had told me to throw more. The gathering made me realize what I need to work on to improve, and I need to play VF alot more.... The FT situation really made me fall behind.

It's really a blessing for the SoCal people to have such a big scene, it really creates players who can adapt well. So here's an advice to all the people who are playing VF and wants to know how to get better, play more and more different people in the big scenes. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif
