FT is an illusion. So is AI. None of us has ever actually been there. You only think you were there. You thought we were there, too. We weren't. Spotlite tried to go. He doesn't exist anymore. Akiralove has taken over. Ticky and Pushku, they never left Boston. You think you're meeting them at AI. You're not. AI isn't there. And Boston is hundreds of miles away. PhoenixDth? Not real, either. Brisal73 made him up one day and the illusion just stuck around. Of course, Brisal73 isn't real either. Just ask LPC73 or GoatCheeseBlues. Well... I guess you can't do that either. They were fabricated by Mike90210. Don't ask about his existence. It can't be proven. Andy is real. That's why you can't see him anymore. If you try to go to AI, you'll end up having gone there less than once. But I heard that FT won't steal your tokens anymore.

    Really.

what's the dillio? Tokyo like a once a year trip now? my how customs grow fast...going to Japan is but a luxury for a college student living off top ramen and newspaper coupons...

P.S. someone teach me how to communicate to someone with a Japanese mentality...I have no idea how to be straightforward (am I supposed to be? [rude], how do I do it with suttlety?)

I'm beginning to think SoCal is becoming more like Japanese in a way....not used to this level of societal mentality...

On a lighter note, doesn't seem too active as of recent so I thought I'd shed some light on the whole....ah, nevermind...lost my train of thought.

I just think it'd be nicer if we all got together more often....k thx, my 2 cents.

Bad news... Japan... definitely a myth. This fantasy collection of apparitions that involve themselves in the vaporware that is VFNet, they say they're playing FT, but since FT isn't real, they haven't much a leg to stand on. This is speculating that they even have legs. vf4akira manifests as someone in Japan, and even he claims not to exist. I heard a rumor about a place called San Diego, but you might say SD is Japan in disguise since vf4akira and kTallGuy no longer pay homage to their supposed origination (which no one is sure of anyway).

    Really.

Here's a reason we can't have VFnet at AI. Thanks to kbcat for the info...

I really don't know all the details of how VFnet works, but it really seems strange to me that you can't just connect to a server in Japan. It could be similar to the server browsing in Quake 3 Arena - just use ethernet cabling from the VF machine to the arcade's switch attached to a DSL, T1, or even a dial-up modem. I can't see why the VF machine doesn't have a UI to find VFnet based on an IP address - or even some software on a PC on the network to access VFnet and send the info to the VF cab.

I know it's not that simple, otherwise SoCal would have VFnet at AI.

Spotlite described to me a theory why we can't have VFnet in SoCal, something like "it would be similar to subscribing to a Japanese ISP from Los Angeles. They probably wouldn't do it because of billing hassles and it may not even be possible - sort of like certain DSL services that aren't supported by your local phone carrier."

We looked into VF.Net for FT in TO. In order for Sega to connect you need to provide you Static IP address and the ID/Serial # for your Naomi 2. This is of course no problem. The problem lies in the fact that we in North America are not supposed to own Japanese FT or EVO machines. The place you borught the system from is responsible for passing the info on to Sega -- but they can't since they weren't supposed to sell you the system in the first place.

Even then, Sega can't really hook us up because North America is Sega of America's domain and that would cause problems between SoA and SoJ. Furthermore, the VF.Net interface is Japanese and I think SoJ would be reluctant to allow a NA arcade hook up their machine because they don't have an English interface for us. This paragraph was really just speculation on my part the tfirst paragraph is the actual info we got from our contacts in Japan about connecting our system.

I suppose we could be surreptitious and have the billing sent to someone who lives in Japan or billed to a credit card address in Japan. If SoJ sourced the IP to NA, I suppose we'd get something along the lines of "WTF? No! This stops immediately!"

dang...no comp for now, need license plate...hehe

btw, somewhat confusing but at AI, the machine says ver.B...is that correct? I was puzzled into thinking that version A is the later version of FT...but I'm not sure...any ideas? (If you haven't noticed, I've been somewhere between a rock and a hard place for the past few months)

Went to AI last night. Saw a new person playing FT. He was using Vanessa. Said he'd never posted here. Told him to come visit. Mentioned that SoCal sometimes gets together Friday nights.
