“it breaks and you can't replace it (battery life)â€Â

    http://ipodbattery.com/ Enough said, STFU loser.

“Now, if all you listen to are .mp3 and apple's gay audio formatâ€Â

Yes all I listen to is mp3, just like all I need a SUV is to drive it around. I don’t need it to jump a hill or make me breakfast. Honestly the capacity of current HD based players is ridiculous. Why do you need a multi Gigabyte storage device when you simple pick off a play list copy it and go. 4GB is plenty for 99.9% of the users out there. What matters is style, ease of usability, ease of file management and transfer, and quality. You just can’t beat iPod here, I’m done convincing a jew not to be cheap. Anyways, if you like driving a Kia with a GPS, 50 cd charger, Doped sound system, modified 43 way to hell over a classy stock x5. That’s your choice… Fucking moron josh.

Yea, well unfortunately I got one prior to the airing of those wanky T610 ads on telly. Seriously, anyone who collects their phone from their sofa by patting it and making it bounce needs a good kicking.

Anyway, you can't talk.....your phone emmits a homosexual flashing light.

It's so that people can see my phone when they fly past on an aeroplane.

The pilot makes a point of mentioning on flights, "look over to your left, and you can see some dude's great phone."

Listen, the Nomad 3 could suck my cock and cook my dinner, but I still wouldn't buy one because they look like this:

I don't want to get involved in a stupid war. I do think that people shouldn't feel that Ipod is the only choice out there.

    How about this?

I think this player has plenty of nice options for the techie, while very user friendly and easy to use. Plus, it's simple drag and drop, a portable plug and play HD that supports 4 or 5 types of files. Mic included.

I'm very happy with my model.

That iRiver unit got great reviews but was a little over my budget.

I think people are well aware of the alternatives on the market but ipod's ease-of-use has given it the mass-market edge. I couldn't be happier with mine. I dropped the little blighter on the way home the other night and it got a nasty clatter on the concrete. Picked it up, reset it and it's fine. That's exactly why I prefer a small robust player.

I'm now looking into getting my car connected to the mini. I've heard those FM transmitters are crap so investigating the direct input route.

well for me, and as an audiofile, ipods are crap.
i mean £300 for 8hours (at best) batteriy life...
damn Minidisc had 8hours life 9years ago!!!
so wow, youve got 100albums on it, but can only listen to 8 b4 a recharge???

maybe when the 3rg gen comes, but 1gig Hi-MDs are out now, so thats a change of gG of tunes in the space of 5secs ANYWARE...
also Hi MDs can do uncompressed PCM, and the MD compression (atrac3+) will always benafit from evolving, ohh an the porbably 99hours on one charge cant be bad to...

1 gig Hi-MD? Wow, never knew they could hold that much data. Presumebly the compression rate is lower for better quality?

Anyway, I'm finding the 4 gig capacity mini perfect for my collection, and I'm not one for scrutinising sound quality from compression formats anyway. Apple's AAC at 128 seems absultely perfect to me, and that's listening to tracks with lots of heavy base.

Also, why would I want more than 8-10 hours charge from a portable player? That's more than enough for a fulll day listening to music and I just make a habit of charging it every evening along with my mobile.

Here's a funny story, I took a ipod 15gb and a ipodmini to my friend's house to steal his songs. He doesn't have firewire so I plugged the ipod via usb2 in.. blank screen.. I plugged the ipodmini in.. blank screen. neither of them would turn on after no matter what. I had to do a hardware reset with firewire to get it to work. bottom line.. ipod sucks with usb2.

and u know what, u can use the new Hi-MDs as a usb hard drive!!!
but the fact about having all that space on an ipod is bring ur tunes when u go away...
hell when i went apris an italy with my friends he was pissed as he for got his charger, hell my MD was still playing on the plane back:)

also my MD has a 10milla watt out put, that happly drives my pro headphones (HD 25)

i think the i pod has a high out put, but doesnt have the Ohm compatblity that walkmans hav (hell sonys been doing it for 25 years!)

also the best in earphones to get are still sonys EX 70/71's
the bass is evil, goes down to 6hz!!!! an over 24Khz!!!

Almost all flash and hard drive players second as a USB storage device, iPods are no different.

We should just agree to disagree on the merits of other players because I'm simply delighted with my mini and nothing could make me regret the purchase.

As for sound quality, it absolutely rocks. A good test of playback quality was listening to Ken Ishii's X-mix . He spins some of the finest bleepy funky minimal techno, with sweeping symphonic layers that hit all acoustic ranges. And it sounds simply wonderful!!

I guess the only thing i hate about my ipod is the shoddy remote.
