sony hav been rinsing the white earphones with the sick ex888 and ill bass ex70s for nearly 10 years!

do youself and get a pair of sennhiser 500mx or better yet some sony ex71 earphones for about £20 online!

I have a 20gig gunmetal grey iaudio and it's fucking lovely if I do say so myself. Not all style either, the interface on the actual machine itself is quite easy to use. The only downside is the software isn't as idiot proof as itunes per se, but you get what you put into it. Also...voice recording...just because you have to sometimes /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Firstly, I've never heard anyone mention iPod batteries halving their capacity within a year. In actual fact the battery life improves with age initially, then slowly degrades with time. But then so does ANY rechargable batery you care to mention.

Secondly, the latest iPods have a quoted playtime of 15 hours (18 hours for 2nd generation minis). I can vouch for this statistic having recently purchased a 30g iPod photo. I get just over 16 hours and that's with a full colour backlit screen displaying my album art as I listen.

Thirdly, you say quality matters over capacity. To me that statement is contradictory, when owning a massive capacity 60g iPod allows you the luxury of ripping all your music at 256k AAC. Most audophiles will tell you AAC is superior to mp3 or wma at equivalent bit rates.

I'm not saying other players on the market are not as good or in some cases better than the iPod, but in terms of sheer accessibility, ease of use, and having the largest music store at your fingertips, I think they take some beating.
