    My gripe about Brad is.....

what Italian fights Thai boxing? He should either be a Thai or Dutch. It's retarded that he's Italian.

Sega AM2 has trouble representing ethnic portrayal, especially in the VF games. I can understand an Italian fighter not using Thai style fighting, they could have left him as a generic kickboxer and it would have been fine with me.

What type of fighting style(s) do you think he should have used if Sega wanted to keep the character Italian?

Who cares, just boxing maybe. But don't waste Muay Thai (the coolest martial arts style) on an Italian character when it is best represented by either a little crazy Thai dude (real thai boxers are nuts) or a black dutch guy.

Might as well have the Italian be a soccer player, it's not like they're fighters.

You obviously don't know many bar-faring Italians.

I know plenty of bar-faring Canadians and I'm pretty sure everybody loves to brawl when they're inebriated regardless of nationality. But it doesn't mean that I would consider Canada as a fighting sport nation.

Seriously there are Thai boxers and fighters from Italy but comparatively it's nothing compared to Thais, Dutch, and even French and Croatians. There should be a Dutch fighter in VF.

You also have a Japenese guy doing Hakkyoku ken, an australian Pancratium fighter, and a french guy using the praying mantis style. Since when do you have to be from Country X to be good at Martial art Y. David Douillet won many Judo competitions, Olympic gold medals, beat big name japanese fighters and the guy's french. Brad's Italian but who knows, he probably lived and trained in Thailand all his life. Why is this even an argument ?

I'm not trying to argue. It's a matter of opinion, but personally I think the "brad" character would be a lot cooler if he was a thai or dutchman. Why they would refuse to include a Thai character as the thai kickboxer baffles me unless it's due to some sort of racial bias that I don't understand...

Perhaps they couldn't come up with a decent portrayal of a Thai kickboxer without the character ending up looking like an Adon/Sagat/Joe clone. And thus went with someone more original.

i think they just wanted someone that looked like Steve the new character from tekken...I love Sagat i wish he was in VF! LOL

Ya that would be pretty cool, could you picture a tiger-genocide being done in VF, LOL! Where'd you get that phat picture of Optimus Prime? Do they have a good shot of soundwave?

I too train in Muay Thai.My trainer is the mid west division champion and was trained by VUT and he visits Thailand regularly for seminars every year.Anyways when my friend told me about a Muay Thai fighter in Virtua Fighter I became interested because the VF games are really good with accurate fighting from what Ive heard.I am really looking forward to Evolution and hope Muay Thai is represented accurately.

I'm a practioner too recovering from injury (obtained in a nightclub, not the ring) and was glad to see lot's of things on screen I couldn't do 4 real anymore. I also must say that MT is represented pretty good ( the best yet in a game) but have some remarks: clinching should be more accessible during fight and it's not realistic to keep your opponent's head down, when clinching your stick your whole body against your opponent and making yourself as tall as possible-then creating distince and quickly place a knee('s)-then closing the gap or pushing him away(or watching him go down /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)
Also the front kick is a bit 2 lame-It's important 2 keep the opponent at a distance but 4 that you need speed+power. while you don't see Brad swinging his body backwards during the kick(ok detail)
-His cover when he blocks is plain rediculous: he crosses his fore-arms...further explanation unnecesary in this toppic I guess /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
-Oh yeah: Brad is as cheasy as cheasy-pie's without pie's in it-but it's nice 2 see in his extra win poses marks of the traditional dance before a Thaï fight
In the end your also playing VF and your mind is at[
[2_][P], throw escaping,... so the fighting representation will always be in function of the VF universe(naturally &thankfully ofcourse) how else could you believe a Thaï-boxer being mashed up by some 'kung-fu chu' /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
    K1 anyone???? /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

As far as the right style, if he wants to be Muay Thai, he can be Muay Thai. Italian shuldn't change that, like the French boy using Mantis style. But as far as more appropriate styles go, I'd have to say Savate. I know it's french, but it's the most Europian Kickboxing I can think of.

I may be repeating someone but ah well,

I am an avid Muay Thai practicioner and to me, Brad is a great example of Western Boxing with some kicks, but not quite Muay Thai. Suprisingly, his attacks (I've tried them out) work better in real life than they do in the game.

But one thing is certain, he is FAR too indirect to resemble Muay Thai. But he does (briefly) display a good example of a clinch and the elbows involved in Muay Thai.

On a side note, I like this character regardless of the fact that he isn't really what he is supposed to be (rather...what Sega says he is). And his floating game is not bad at all. It seems to me that he is the most timing oriented player in the game.

Hrmm...the clinch is pretty good, though I would like to see more knee options..also more low and mid kick options..
Do you do Thai Boxing or kickboxing?
