So I have the opposite problem, nothing registers when I push down. Gonna try to fix it like you did.

Awesome! Turns out, there is a totally loose wire that has pulled free from the "solder". when I saw "solder", I mean a glob of glue. That is bullshit, I just had to go to the crowded mall, spend $60 and get a broken stick. Yay me!

After looking at it more, the wire is not even long enough to reach the point it needs to connect to. What a cheap piece of junk.

Well if you want to repair it, get a soldering gun, solder, wick, and some 22 guage wire. Or throw the thing out and buy a new one.

    Thanks Hori.

After my play tonight, the menus worked flawlessly and that was without opening the stick or trying to fix it. I have no idea what was the problem earlier, maybe my hammering on the stick caused a problem and then re-corrected itself? At the moment though, i'm happy it's in working order.

I've chatted with a friend on XBL without a stick and he says he can hear the pounding/hammering/button presses coming through to his mic. He also says there is a slight fuzz noise. I had dropped my mic in a cup of water by accident once so that could explain the fuzz noise, but as for him hearing the button presses through to his headset like interference - anyone else being told of that problem with xbox live mic chat?

I'm gonna just return it and order another online, just sucks that I have to pay shipping and wait for it. Oh well, thats life...

Just a follow up on this. I have used a modded (sanwa buttons) hori evo stick for about four years, and have been really pleased with the performance. It has lasted good amount of time and is quite durable I think.

It seems in terms of input response the sticks are similar. Can anyone else concur? Any more further comparisons b/w the two products? What about in terms of durability (seems that chanchai had some bad experiences with this issue)?

I would like to hear more discussion about this. I am thinking about purchasing a HFSEX2...
    Thanks very much.

Just wanted to say that if you are used to sanwa buttons, the buttons on this stick will seem much less sensitive. At first, the stick itself seemed too loose compared to the EVO stick, but after playing around with it, you will quickly adapt. After using it for a little while, I felt like I was actually able to input CD's faster. Hitting diagonals was better than expected too, but I still do occasionally get Jacky's 4k+g when going for his 7k+g, probably just me. As for structure and feel, it is lighter, but still makes a good "lap stick" in my book.

Just like all the other reviews I think this is a good stick, not great, but for the casual gamer it more than gets the job done.

Oh, and I think Unsafe_Dan mentioned that is hard to mod, something to keep mind too for those modders out there.

    Happy sticking

I believe I got used to the EX2 stick after about a month or more of playing. Although I still wish there wasn't that much throw after the stick clicks the switches and that diagonals detection was better, all in all is a decent stick. Much better than the SC2 Hori stick for PS2, which I have used for a while.
At the moment, the thing that annoys me the most about the EX2 is probably the fact that the logical button assignation has the red one (B) for the punch and the blue one (X) for the kick. I wish I could swap the colours...

I have to totally revise my "review." I wasn't quite aware of what I'm talking about. Now, after a long term test of the HORI EX2, I can state that HORI did fabulously at manufacturing every cheap, crap material for this over-priced stick.

I wish both mine Agetec stick would work for the 360. But unfortunately, I only have two HORIs for the 360's VF5 with both of them suffering from button malfunction which is krassly annoying.

I'll have to find a new, better Arcade stick solution now.

I've had mine for 4 days now, and I could make a more in depth in a month even. I've also been a joystick whore for years, having constructed and/or modified every stick for every console with VF.

That said, I like my EX2 a lot. It's quite good for what it cost and so far I have no issues. I will likely mod my other stick to a wired 360 controller eventually, because it's fun, but for the time being this stick has not hindered my play in any way.

so far the the stick has been great. I might have to upgrade the buttons to sanwa. Really the buttons look like japanese buttons but have the sensitivty leaning towards happ.

I kind of want to get one of these but I don't know about getting it modded. Would an unmodded one still be better than playing with the normal 360 controller?

From what I can tell the ex2 is identical to the Evo sticks but the first VF4 stick (Black w/ Akira on it) was different - at least it had a different stick (thicker and thus better).
