Saaaa for sommersault kicks is quite cool. Learning more about how people actually talk about the game from this, instead of just knowing how to read about it. Kind of need to know the move names though, although I guess this is a great chance to learn.

I think the announcers say "sommer!!" for flip kick... maybe he says something else too for certain situations..

Yep, on listening again that sounds more like it.

If I can get time I could translate the basic things that are being said.

Thanks to nin for pointing this vid out to me on hk-vf.tv.

    Furaibou (JA) vs YOU (JA) | sky_100302.wmv | FN_02845

1:06: Furaibou does an insane wall combo after the sadistic throw, [3][3][P]+[G] (wall hit) ~ [4][K]+[G] (bounce) ~ [P] ~ [4][K]+[G] (bounce) ~ [6][6][K] ~ small down attack. Looks to total around 100pts of damage before the down attack.

In other news, there's a couple of movies showing the chara intro sequences on the select screen. It's the first time I saw them, so if you're interested you can see them in the following:

    Furaibou (JA) vs YOU (JA) | sky_100301.wmv | FN_02844
    Furaibou Jacky intro.

    Jin (KA) vs TetsuoSan (EI) | up0430.WMV | FN_02851
TetsuSan Eileen intro. Aggressive final round action by Jin!

    Jin (KA) vs LUPIN (PA) | up0431.WMV | FN_02852
    Jin Kage intro.

Check it out, there are two different "yeeah" samples of the Knee Strike throw (Furaibou (JA) vs YOU (JA) | sky_100302.wmv | FN_02845 - 0:11 / 0:33) - didn't notice that before. Looks like the new one is used after a successful throw escape.

Haha just when I was about to wonder if there were any different background effect than lightnings in the intro sequences on came the Furaibo Jacky's three spotlights - classy indeed : )

Looks like high damage TFT combos are back! Not sure if this is light weight only, but Kage does TFT ~ OM [K] ~ [2][P] ~ [2][P]+[K][K] for what looks like 80pts damage or more.

What's interesting is the OM [K] seems to cause a bounce hit, so you get the damage from the TFT ground hit plus the (unscaled) damage from the OM [K].

Does the TFT + OM K damage imply that the combo can be quick recovered?

Edit: Just saw the clip, and it doesn't look escapable. Seems like a bug that will be fixed in the next version!

I just recognize one small bug in that japanese commentary. Announcer react on your moves right after you start performing them, which is a little funny sometimes, when one character is just starting throw animation and before you can recognize by your eyes that he is performing throw which will kill his opponent, announcer is already whining about that /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

As much as I like the bounce combos and the addition of OM moves myself, seeing significantly high damage combos involving those new aspect of VF5 makes me wonder if AM2 has forseen the damage potentials with those before releasing the game in their efforts of making the game balanced.

e.i) I wonder if 80+ damages from Jacky's second best throw(33P+G) with all involving 4K+G rebounces are meant to be like that by AM2. I suspect that they didn't know that if something like that'd be possible, and players start discovering those combos.

Sega has always been good in correcting things or adjusting damages to make things more balanced in VF4 days, so I am pretty certain that more revisions will follow. However, I have a feeling that I might just be seeing the tip of iceberg in terms of absurd damages from rebounce and OM move combos and have to wonder how many revisions it would take for them to get the job done. At any rate, PS3 version is coming out and soon and time for revision is running out.

In a way it kinda reminds me of VF2 insane damage days. In other words: death by few blows. VF5 seems to have these situations, and although I don't mind seeing that kind of damage I'd rather see it only possible by passing some kind of technical barrier or high risk.

You read my mind. Hopefully we can get critical revisions in before the PS3 version is finalized.

    Joseph(Aki) VS Jacky

Excellent plays from both players. Highly recommended.

Also, I saw this clip a couple days ago although the link seems to be gone from the list.

    HighJin(Jacky) vs Jin(Kage)

One of the best VF5 matches I've ever watched.

P.S. I don't mind high damage as long as it doesn't destroy the overall balance associated with risk/reward. I heard that lots of revisions have made in Ver.A, which is good news.

Jeneric has given the links, but in future try searching the hk-vf.net site with the references provided such as FN_XXXXX or sometimes the filename of the movie.

Maddy had given the post title reference to one, FN_02910, and nobody provided it for the other, FN_02803.
