Most of the top players in the point ranking matches are above 10th dan and have more than 1000 wins under their belt, but it seems they have never uploaded their replays before.

Perhaps they don't want their playing to be studied by others, so they can keep some advantage in competitions? Damn I really want to see more vids from players such as Ohsu and Itabashi...

Can OM be used to avoid all high attacks? Can OM only be used to dodge full circular attacks? Can OM be used to dodge mid/low full circular attacks (I don't think so)? Why the hell does it seem like every time I try OM I eat a major counter yoho combo... These questions remain unanswered /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

From what I understand, it has to be huge frame advantage situation. I've seen clips of players avoiding full circular mid/low rising kicks with OM, so that theory definitely is true for wakeups.

Do you have any specific movies? I'd like to check them out... I tried this today with no success: I'd imagine timing / distance are a factor... Anyway I'm going to start an OM thread over on the VF5 board for more discussion...

I'm probably way behind in VF5 news but at 0:45
    bounce = techable?

or was that not a true bounce setup

I think there are techable bounced and non techable ones.

If you are bounced from a crumple, that is not techable.

If you are launched and then bounced, that is techable.

I may be wrong, but that is what I have gathered with the current information.

I think because the Yoho was a minor counter Fei didn't launch high enough to be bounced...

I found this one about 23 seconds into the vid.

Thanks for the link, that was nice! We can see Akira does the OM right after Lei starts his rising kick... My only question is was that rising attack half circular or full circular? It looked similar to one of Akira's half circular rising attacks to me...

seems like succesive DM into OM is a string killer

Thanks for pointing that out! I've never tried successful DM followed by an OM... It seemed to work well for him... They didn't look like the best players overall but doing that got him no less than three back crumple / low throws... I'll try it out next time I'm at the arcade...

    That was definitely half-circular.

Nice basara usage after OM, and generally nice play against an aggressive Akira.

    2006-8-27_3_15_LEI-FEI_vs_JEFFRY.wmv
    Sudden death!

    2006-8-25_22_6_LEI-FEI_vs_GOH.wmv
Tight flowcharts from Lei, or just inexperience on the Goh player's part? Still, nice to watch Lei rush that shit down, as the kids say.

i dont know if this has been posted but a lot of interesting movies here
    http://www.local-star.com/movie/

they're not direct feed wmv's but they contain a lot more entertaining clips for me atleast, clip 018 is interesting from a leifei lightweight combo standpoint.

    clip 18 shows akiras [4][6][P]+[G] [P],[P],[P],[P],[P],[K]ring out potential - against jacky !!
looks like vf2 all over again

these clips really make the game start to look like VF5 for me

Most of these clips are from the Arice Point Ranking tourney held. Mukki Akira came 1st and Joe's Lei Fei came 2nd. There's a thread about it in the VF5 forum. I agree--very cool matches. These are high level players playing with great intensity.

Some have said lei fei was low teir in the higher levels of play in japan in vf4 evo. Now joe's lei fei has got second place does this signify lei fei is now much more improved than evo or is joe just to damn good?

Lei-feis confusing play is pretty strong in the earlier phases of the game especially due to lack of frame data for other players to utilize. I cant say he's better or worse in the "tiers" due to this. Speaking of Joe placing 2nd, didnt he also do this in an earlier Virtua Fighter 4 ver.b tourney?

There were pretty many Lei's (5) in the Narita trials and one of them won it. So far a Pai, a Lion and a Lei is qualified for Otenami.
Imo Lei definatly looks stronger with solutions to things he didn't have earlier, I think he can cope with dblplms in his back all the time (evade from stance), has a "normal" P now and elbowspeed knockdown for starters along with options like 33p going into stance etc along, more combodamage in certain instances and stuff like lowscrapingmoves for wallhits. You made a good thread earlier with how you felt he was low cause he was lacking basics - well some points atleast seem fixed. I feel that Brad and Lei are among those who have gained most of VF5 myself right now.

Lei doesn't need a normal P much in the same way as Lion doesn't need a normal LP.

funny i dont recall you playing either of those characters /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif
i would hardly put [2][P] on the same level as [P]
