Damn ! it still doesn't say who's going to be handling VF from now on but my guess would be Yu Suzuki's new team. Maybe Am2 will produce something totally new !? I actually like this idea.

I said his future within Sega would pan out within the next two years and that he wasnt very much liked within AM2, both have been vindicated methinks.
In any case it doesnt matter as we ARE getting a new VF and SM so im happy.

.....sigh......How exactly is the news that Suzuki is to head a new team supposed to confirm your claims about him being disliked within AM2?

And so much for Yu being "on the way out"........ you really are full of it.

They should get suzuki san into one of the dev teams that do sports games... I think he would make a great realism based sports game. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Here's hoping Sega beating EA one of these days.

Remember Ali, you can't win arguments against drooling idiot fanboys who worship their idols of gold despite having repeatedly shown that they have lost their luster.

Also, Kataoka and Katagiri are the men in charge of VF now, and have been since VF4. (I think that how many elements from FV2 went into VF4 proves that.)

He he....you're absolutely right about me being a drooling Suzuki fanboy, and I make no appologies for that. His games are absolutely fantastic - what more can I say? But are you trying to tell me that you're NOT a blinkered Kataoka/Fightingvipers fan? It takes one to know one I guess...

And as far as loosing the argument goes, I couldn't care-less. What did bug me, however, was hearing these constant little sniping remarks from Fishie, making claims he couldn't substantiate.

If you or Fishie have concrete evidence to back up your remarks about Suzuki having "lost his lustre" and similar heresay, then go-ahead and bring them to the attention of the forum.

There is this you posted a while back though. The text is written by a current Japanese correspondent for GamePro and sometimes game-translator whom I have a great deal of personal respect for (and the only reason I'd go near that mag).

Kikizo have just released a new article on the story:

    http://games.kikizo.com/news/200307/037.asp

Here's a quote from the article that specifically discusses AM2 and Yu's new role:

Suzuki: Will still oversee AM2 and other studios.
Sega-AM2 - the only studio that will remain standalone, will focus on fighting games such as the forthcoming Fighting Vipers 3 and more Virtua Fighter games, along with games for Sega 'otaku' like Virtua Cop 3 and Outrun 2. Under the direction of newly appointed AM2 boss Hiroshi Kataoka, AM2 remains strong. And despite the news surrounding New Studio 2 (see below), supposedly headed by Suzuki and to focus on hit game series, it is thought that Shenmue III will remain with AM2 and Kataoka.

New Studio 2 - reportedly the new project of Yu Suzuki, who has been promoted to Non Executive Board Director and leaving direction of AM2 down to Kataoka, this studio will be dedicated to hit game series.

However, it has been suggested that the whole prospect of this second studio might be some kind of translation error, since Suzuki's new role at Sega is to oversee all creative research and development, and the Shenmue series (which anyone would immediately associate with the focus of this supposed studio) is almost certainly still an AM2 project. The likely scenario is that this studio is in fact aiming for some entirely new big-hit Sega titles, with Yu leaving Shenmue to Kataoka. We will keep you posted on this one, as we remain suspicious.
