I'm also a Vanessa player and I am not wrong. Don't you understand!? Those combos end in /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, if you somehow forgot you pressed those buttons and are surprised to find yourself in Defensive stance, then you're a moron. The thing with other characters (Lei-Fei, Sarah etc) is that random moves such as Lei's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif go to Koko and his Sui Ra Kan Shiki /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif automatically goes into UraNehan - this can be confusing to people who can't be bothered to learn which moves end up in which stances.

I'll repeat myself again and see if this time it sticks - The ONLY way to switch stances with Vanessa is by pressing all 3 buttons, either when you are idle or at the end of a combo.

Yes, that's the only exception to the rule and should not cause a stance-o-phobe too many problems.

This might apply to someone picking up the character. Hell, Chefboy even admitted to such, and his Vanessa is pretty competent from what I've seen (learn to punish! [online's fault?]).

 

Sebo, the title of the thread is "Help me to pick-up my next character!" you know. It doesn't matter if you're not pulling off max combos while familiarizing yourself with a new character.

I see a lot of people who get acquainted with their character, but never evolve... I can name a number of just Vanessa players like that.

 

OK guys, thanks for the help. If we assume that default Vanessa is DS, then calling OS a "stance" is a bit reductive to say the least. It's a whole different thing so my stance-phobia may not apply.
When I think of a stance, I think of some position you end up in and where your options are limited in terms of attack and defence. I think of flamingo, bokutai, Kage's stances, Shun's stances.

Therefore, I really think I'll give Vanessa a try at some point, if I won't like her I might go for Pai (sorry Sebastian ^_^')

 

OK, just be warned that it is like taking up 2 characters instead of one.
