    Eh, I don't think the new Evo Jacky is as cheezy as VF4 version C Jacky.

    the only thing cheesy abouth jacky is probably the smell of his boots after he's been throwing them about all match.. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

    seriously though, i get lots of people calling almost everyone cheap other than the character they use.... the best part is that they use a REALLY annoying character like pai, *ahem* archangel ..... lol, j/k ^^

    I agree with Bareknuckle. People bitch about every character except the ones they use. Jacky's not cheesy, you're just close-minded. Quit complaining and just play the game.

    Characters I hear being bitched about the most:

    1.) Jacky - too fast, too strong, too chezzy, can't throw him, his f+p is cheap, blah blah

    2.) Akira - way too strong, his moves are cheap, "atop using the same move," too many throws, evade attack being cheap, how do you do his knee?.....

    3.) Lau - "that ppp crap is lame," too many canned combos, too fast, too strong.

    When people lose (alot), they tend to use either, too fast or too strong, as an excuse.

    for #1 if he's too fast use moves to slow him down like lp, lk etc. Too strong would come from being too fast and can't be thrown. Too cheezy is just a lack of experience. And Jacky can be thrown just like any other character. Block and throw is easy you just have to work on the block and duck/whiff/dodge stuff.

    I won't touch on the others...

    Yes but as far as Jacky play is concerned, all characters that are comparable to him in speed, do less damage than attacks of the same class that they share, or his attacks have better(higher priority) hit properties to them, an example is instead of regular p, Jacky can use df+p to break through a standing p get a nice df+ppu+p pounce combo.

    And I think Jacky has enough moves in his arsenal that most low punches shouldn't affect him to much, the lightning kicks, all his mid kicks/elbows/beatknuckles/backfists/spins/etc. all break through the d+p.

    PS: most people who say that other characters are "cheezy/cheap" do lack experience as opposed to those who think that the characters are for the most part balanced.

    Your example is ok, his d/f+p is 13 frames not 12 like his jab, I would rather use his long range jab and get it on MC and mix up elbow(default) or throw(default) his d/f+p is more of a weapon on mC than anything.

    Jacky does have a lot of weapons for lp, but all involve going mid and linear. You just have to be comfortable with dodging and punishing after dodge. EXPERIENCE! anyways, i'm done.

    I really dont think that any Character is cheezy. Its not really Jack's cheeze thats bothering me. My freind we'll call him ( 1BeastyMther) uses Jacky. But he's pretty much a newby. So hes does alot of spamming, thats the true problem. Ive been teaching him some good stuff and he's getting better. Hes' worked throws into the game as well as throw reversals, so our sessions have drammaticly improved. This is what happened today,
    1BeastyMthR (Jacky) 17 wins
    BIGBOYYOAS (Jeff) me 10 wins

    BIGBOYYOAS ( Jeff)16 wins
    BoWeeVil (Vannessa)11 wins

    1BeastyMthR took first session over BoWeeVill
    BoWeevil took second session over 1BeastyMthR
    We had alot of fun and should be at it tommorrow. Right now the crew is playing SC2. Remmember it is a game , HAVE FUN! /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif[2][K][2][3][P][G]

    I think the "Cheesy" part comes from his voice/lines. While the moves are kewl, I just can't get passed the fact that he's the whitest guy in any video game doing Bruce Lee's fighting style.

    I generally don't say a character/player is "cheap", but boring - definitely, depending on how they're played.

    I played against Skeleton's Kage at Nishispo -- likely the most boring match I've ever been in. All he did was go for [2_][3][P] over... and over... and over... Almost nothing else. Why? It's safe as shit. Not throw counterable, and floats (too) easily (IMHO). I think it'd spice it up if it was either TC or required MC to float.

    Sarah:
    Elbow->Elbow->Knee
    Sarah/Lau:
    Elbow->Elbow->Throw

    Characters I use:
    Vanessa: [6][6][K] Super safe/uncounterable move. Abused, and gets kinda boring.

    Pai: Lots of cheese. Nice evasive attack, tons of throws, and crescents.

    Lion:
    [2][K]+[G]

    Aoi:
    Depends on the player - the elbows can get out of hand though. I try to mix mine up.

    Shun:
    Chowan - eats a LOT. However, ducking against Shun can actually get you pretty far. No low throws, and until 8 drinks, there's only [K]+[G], [3][P]+[K] (SLOOOW), or the standard [3][K] which don't guarantee much damage, and the setup is probably average. Chowan does nothing besides lift on duck.

    Lei Fei:
    [3][3][P][P]
    XX-Stance->attack->stance-Cancel Stance-Throw
    The list is just too long. A strong Lei Fei can be quite frustrating.

    Good good grasshopper,now u see a matter of adjustments,slowing his game down speedin' yours up.Youv'e upgraded ,now does he seem so cheesy?Wipe away the tears now my son.Even though youv'e improved u say he's improved too.....this is disturbing.If he was better from the break....and you force him to grow,how then will you deal with this new force??He is a jacky player...the style of jeet-kun-do can not be overcome,only accepted.I predict this young jacky talent will go on a rampage within the coming weeks.Prepare for the storm...may the force be with you. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif[3_][P],[4_][4_][P],[G],[7_][K]

    You need MC or mC for it to float.

    I started getting really aggressive lately, and I'm starting to think that's all you need. Using Akira, I always begin matches with either [4][6][6][P]+[K] or [6][6][K][K]. With the DBC I find that even when it's blocked and I should be knee'd or something I don't because Akira makes that scary sound. The DJK is good because often if they block the first kick, the second one will catch them completely off guard & that's an easy 18 pts or so of damage...only 10 more DJK's and I win the round! When I want to spice things up abit I'll try just throwing the whole round. I get floated sometimes but that's good because while I float, my fingers and arms can rest which is a bonus when playing with someone whose move inputs far exceed the difficulty of any other character in the game. Sometimes when my hands and arms are really tired, I'll go get someone at subway to fix me a sandwich. Those things there are pretty yummy. I think I'll go do that.

    Huh? Anything that floats on mC will also float on MC -- The move in question only requires mC. My statement was it'd be spicier if it REQUIRED MC -- IE, not float on mC.

    Now go back to fisting your monkey. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    Sorry, you made it sound like it just floats on normal hit or something. What is it? A 16 or 15 frame attack? You gotta be recovering at -16 or so to take it on mC anyway. So basically you think it shouldn't float sweeps for free? If it was changed, at close range Kage would have to knee, and from a distance heelkick or f+p+k p+k. That would tone him down a bit, try writing Sega, since you play in Japan maybe they'll listen to you.

    They don't listen to shit, save one time. There was a questionairre at the Evo beta tests, although it was mainly aimed at the features, not the balance. At the test that had the questionairre, Jacky had no [6][P] and Lau's [6][P][P] was throw-counterable. Akira had a few changes as well -- all of the above were changed back to what they were. Lion still had his [9][P]+[G] at this point as well.

    And yes - floating sweeps for free is mainly where I'm coming from. It's a high amount of damage just for blocking low. Then throw on his crazy TR game. I'm starting to use Kage casually though, so I might change my mind soon. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    I don't know, sweeps give good momentum for the attacker and in this case mC upper keeps those low attacking bastards in check. If I were a Kage player in this situation I'd cringe.
