Heh, I never seen that happen before. Looks like you guys read each other's minds at the same exact time there. Good stuff. And a heck of a match.

Tee hee... I'l weight in here... TFam is not = to JHow. Tfam does play some defense. He is good at blocking a move then ducking the follow up and punishing. And he is pretty good at dealing with blocked 2p on offense or Defense. And his standard VF chops are good enough to play other characters fairly well. As far as I can tell JHow's entire defense is 4444 and whatever Shun's even more effective run away move is. Sure they both attack a lot but JHow is pure 4444 + Shunanigins which is apparently the new VFPC way talking about Shun spam.

Of course, we all know that every technique and style is just as respectable as every other one and everything is subjective yada yada. One man's irritating exploitation of retarded design choices is another man's "showmanship" or whatever.

And Rodney and Denkai do not backdash just the same, in my assessment. Denkai does use backdash effectively which can be annoying but which everybody, (myself included) tries to do to some extent. But he does it merely to get an opportunity to attack and attack. Rodney in my experience will backdash and wait and see what happens and they maybe see if he should backdash again and/or wait some more. Don't want to do anything hasty after all.

Anyway, that's my semi-informed take on all that.

GGs to Blossy last night. You usually build your offence of the jab, which is good as Sarah's is arguably the best in the game. Sometimes it's good to start from elbow though to stop me abusing crouching moves.

Have a look at Akira's frames. Some of his stuff is plus on block and you were trying to attack.

Against Vanessa in DS, backing away is NOT a good idea with Sarah. Her 66k is way too good.

Defense used to be an integral part of my game but Shun's properties in VF5 made me extremely lazy! To say that my entire defense is a bunch of 4s is a little extreme, and the main reason I will ever do a back dash is to follow up with Shun's exclusive special dodge (1 or 7 P+K+G) which avoids so many things.

What worries me is that, as many people do adapt to anything in life, I have adapted far too much I fear into an online version of my old self (lag related). I would even say that my adaptation was mostly unconscious. You see something that works and it fortifies a position in your memory.

Lastly, if Shunanigans are equivalent to spam in many people's minds, I will then give credit to myself for creating many situations that date back to VF3, and ones that I never saw duplicated until matches of the Japanese player SHU were available online.

I want to fight you more, man.

Also, I enjoy fighting T-Fam, Denkai, Rodney, and Happy Friend. Each brings a bad-ass challenge.

In other news, it was awesome to fight online against RocketBlaze23 aka RocketPai from the days of VF4. #1 OM. All day.

    Hi Plague!

I'd like to play you again as well! Did you know that the last time we played was when I posted that video of me back hopping out of the ring and connecting the kick for a KO? I just looked at the post in the SHUN thread and it was over a year ago! =/

GGs Marly. I had been playing non stop the whole day, so I was a bit tired and not very alert but I did check out Akira somewhat the last couple of weeks or so. Mostly trying to memorize punishable moves, but I tried to remember [2][1][4][P]'s too since someone told me about it. Some of his moves tend to look similar to me still. Good points though.

I never used [2][1][4][P] whilst we were playing. 46P is +1 on block though, so you'll often see it followed by 2P if it's blocked. P+K,P+K is +4 on block and should be ducked or sidestepped where possible.

Also, 66P+KP is + on hit. Abare all the time after eating one isn't a great idea. I once CH you with it 3 times in a row.
3P+K is a tricky annoying low punch that is safe on block and advantage on normal hit. Abare after that is dangerous too.

You're definately at the stage where a lack of character knowledge will hold you back blossy. I'd recommend going through the commands of characters you don't use to figure out the gaps where you can and cannot safely attack. It's worth the effort.

I have a hard time telling this apart from 3p+k+g, p for some reason. But if you CH me three times in a row that's not lack of character knowledge so much as general crappy play on my part...

I fall for this move a lot, it kinda looks like a mid to me.

I agree and I'm on it, but there are about 16 characters I don't play or know and many moves to learn... I figured I'd start with learning some punishable moves to at least stop people from abusing those [IMG] I don't know how fast other people learn, but reading through a framelist once or twice and going through a characters movelist in dojo isn't enough for me to remember stuff. I need to take a few at a time and try to get some experience with them in matches too.

Why don't you start by taking them all to at least 1st Dan in Quest Mode? It's a nice way to at least get a feel for each character. It's easier to tell moves apart after that, too.

Indeed, the best way to learn how to play against certain character, is to play that character yourself. See what other people or CPU punishes or does to deal with your stuff.

It's the startup of the animation that makes the move deceptive, it's a good move for Akira though so it's a good idea to learn to deal with it.

To be fair to you, my biggest hangup is still character knowledge and i've been playing a good while now. You seem to have adapted to a lot of stuff much quicker than I did, so just learn the rest in bits.

For me it's just laziness, I know I need to spend more time with some characters but a good few of them I dislike so much I just can't be arsed to learn them.

This is good advice and it's what I did with most characters, except for Lion and Eileen of course [IMG]

I know that feel. I know you probably have to learn other characters to be a top player. But I really like playing with Lion and I don't really want to.
