Gotta co-sign on that man. I rmemeber having a conversation with denkai at some point. At the end it was something like him saying "You actually think you could win?" If I didn't at least THINK I could win, I would never win lol. Not too complicated

 

i always think i can win, but it doesnt always work out that way. Every match with GentlemanThief I go into thinking "ok this time its gonna be different" it usually isn't.

I understand exactly what you mean Grussel. No doubt at all. I do the same shit too. You're right, sometimes it seems the other player is always making the right decision no matter what you do. It IS tough to not have that frame of mind that "I can't win" when the opponent seems to know what you'll try next. Sometimes I will keep throwing out elbow after I block a move no matter how many times my opponent evades it, yet I keep trying. And it does kinda bring my morale down sometimes cause it seems like no matter what I do I can't hit the person or get a flow going. And i'm even scared to even attempt to attack. That's how that Vigaku person made me feel, cause no matter what I tried he always hit me first or simply reacted quicker. Even did the same throw to me every time after a certain 2 hit move connected after 4 bouts and I still didn't adapt or try to mix it up.

To be honest, I never even noticed the flashes hahah. About hit-checking, I don't even know what to say about that. I know some think they're "superior" cause they hit-check and that's cool, if you can do that then right on man! Good shit! No sarcasm there at all. I'd like to be able to do that too.

But I also notice in some videos featuring some good Japanese players, there's times where they have an opportunity for extra damage from wall splatting someone yet they only do 1/3K with Ak for example instead of a bounce combo. Cause even as impossible as it may seem for some, even they go through motions also.

As far as getting better, I think it's just a matter of playing someone better than you a lot of the time. Cause even if you constantly lose, weather you know it or not, you ARE getting better. But in Fighting Game Communities that can be very tough with elite attitudes (oh my goodness that stuff makes my tempature rise lol. But it can also be a wonderfull motivator), but that's just how it is. Especially one with no lobbies, even then, you may still be shunned out of the lobby. Which can be understandable cause you're only as good as your competition and playing lesser opponents all the time can and will make you worst. But a few matches never really hurt ones skill imo.

 

VF is a guessing game. Just because you're guessing wrong you shouldn't sweat. But I think it's important to know ALL of your options instead of the obivious ones. And also some of your opponents options might 2-for-1 or 3-for-1 some of the stuff you try.

lol, one of the greatest fights of all time. its real life vs. a game but i think it still applies. sometimes i feel more like I am like water, and it works to a point. at those times it feels easier to mix it up. it just feels like your mind is free-flowing. rarely am i that pumped tho

 

I hear ya man. That's one of the problems with my game is not really knowing the options of the other characters (which is my own fault) even still, I can get worked by the simple jab, elbow, throw game.

that's fair, I was being mean and vague. I wrote a longer explanation but my summation is as follows: sometimes the discussions that come out of these threads are excellent and valuable but are rendered moot because of the sheer speed and noise of useless posts that bury them. Threads that don't deserve attention create information that does but the information doesn't go anywhere and doesn't help a small community get bigger.

I guess if I wanted to posit a solution instead of just complain it would be that people who follow these threads and see real information should re-post it/link to it in the appropriate dojo sub-board.

What I think this is about, is when I joined your game after you quit several times. We played and I won and you won from time to time. You kept hosting, I kept joining, so you're panties have been in a bunch ever since. Add in the fact that I play SHUN a character who's designed to fuck with your head and suddenly I'm an asshole who just wants to piss people off.

Or I'm someone that does what it takes to win. I'll use a tactic that you have a hard time countering, throws you off your game and leaves you feeling empty inside. Sorry if you want nothing but glitter in your life. DMPK yah, I joke about using it, but people that play me know that I HARDLY use it. Hell my Shun barely even mule kicks and I still body fools.

You know who else I've joined games with persistently despite soft protest? SDS Overfiend. He got over it, we'll play a few good games, sometimes we won't. But he doesn't rage quit forums over someone he doesn't even know.

@Worstplayer... Sometimes in a world where people are few.. having convo with a idiot is needed to stay sane and realized there's nothing wrong with you. Not saying your a idiot or anything but when nobody is around i'll play against anybody just to burn time. I don't have to have a long session. 2 or 3 games is enough. Now to be honest there is some dudes i just hate playing against not because i can't win or don't like them but i hate playing against their unoriginal style of play. Simple. In fact im known to sandbag it a few because im not interested In (Using Slide Convo analogy for VF.) having a conversation with that player. However i will put the match in perspective and destroy you for a round to remind you ain't shit Sweet over here im just letting you live.

Oh I understand that perfectly. I play JCBlack from time to time and most recently Apostoalc (whatever) Only person I don't bother with at all is Darthminion. Sometimes I have to say, people get on their high horse too soon. I know I'm not the best, but some of the egocentric try to "put me in my place" from time to time only to be SMACKED down. That's generally when the rage quits happen and lol's commence =)

Its easy to underestimate someone. Heck, some of these new accounts are even old heads who make themselves an asshole account to achieve this effect. Me? I have A game days and "I'm just trying to decompress days." Then again some players make me want to try my best no matter what kind of day I'm having.

That being said, if it seems I'm half assing a fight people message me "Bring it" and I'll get in that ass I assure you =)

Understandable... There are a lot of players who i don't like playing against when they use dummy accounts i go full blast on em. Then when i end up playing them with they real account im uninspired.

 

Who's using dummy accounts?

I generally let people know when I'm using a one month trial.

I've never went out my way to make an account to troll people.

I did that on Halo though.
