Good games faded: Im sorry but when you kept hitting me out of +4 frame advantage with your own PK. I couldnt take it anymore especially when my PK should win each and every time. Other than that little annoyance, Your a much better player than me, I didnt have a chance either way.

Good games to BFeck as well

GG to the Japanese fellow I met using his friend's account last night. I don't want to say who it was because he doesn't feel comfortable accepting friend requests since it's not his XBox.

At around midnight I found a 9th dan Shun that I've never seen before with an 82% win ratio. Of course being a Shun player I was very excited. Immediately I could tell he must be a Japanese player which was even more exciting. After a couple games I was sure it was either Shu or Itazan. Low and behold, even though it wasn't, he was a friend of Itazan's. He also claimed Shu was kind of his master (mentor).

After that he accepted my player match request and it went something like this: I win a match, I lose three. I win another match, I lose five. He even asked me if I was really an American which I took as a great compliment. Even though I lost way more than I won, every match was really close. However it might not be saying much since, 1) he was using a game pad, and 2) he hadn't even played VF5 in Japan since he's been in the States for awhile. He must have played a lot of Final Tuned though.

I'm not sure if you read these forums but they were awesome, awesome games! Thanks for the blast!! And I hope to see you again.

Hey J, if you get the chance to play with him again do you think you could ask him if I could get a few player match games with him? It's fine if he doesn't want to accept friend requests. I just want a chance to see how well I will do.

GG's to Heta Akira and his bro. I had a few matches with them last night. I was impressed with the connection and the level of play. These guys have definitely put a lot of time into learning the game. Keep up the good work and maybe we can get some games in this weekend. For anyone who wants to play, I will be online on Saturday pretty much the whole day recording matches for Youtube and my Akira Blog . If anyone wants to play just hit me. Please be patient and considerate though, because you might send me a request to play, but I might have just started one with someone else. If that's the case I will resend the invite back to you after I have played about 15 or so matches. Hopefully I will see a lot of you guys tomorrow. For anyone who will not be around, please enjoy your holiday and the time you spend with your family.

I'm still new to VF, so I just wanted to ask. Is it odd when Americans are good at Shun, or is it just VF in general?

No it's odd that americans play VF. (haha, jab)
I'm kind of serious though friend of mine was like
why are so many americans enthralled with the Japanese
players? I was like uhm, well if your about good
competition there really aren't enough americans
dedicated to this game to raise the bar here.

Thusly, we say he's playing "machi."

    Oops got beat.

I will certainly ask him if I see him again. He was very cordial so I'm sure it won't be a problem. I still can't believe how good he was using a pad. I don't even wanna know how bad I would've been beat down if he was using a stick. Actually he really wasn't doing anything that I don't do, but the major killer for me was I kept running into the whirlwind sabaki over and over. It's like he would do it and then I would try to attack it. AHHHHH! He did like my pounce from half the ring away though. =)

I don't know if I would go as far to say Americans aren't good at Shun, it just seems that hardly anyone uses him. As far as just playing the game, or any game for that matter, there are differences between the way we play and the way Japanese play. If any of us lived in Japan though and were able to play high level players day in and day out that would of course make a huge difference.

Off topic but I still think back to the first time I went to Japan in 1993 when Super Street Fighter 2 had just come out and Fei Long was a new character. No one was that good against him and needless to say it was a lot of fun!! During that same trip I got to play a test version of VF1 in Akihabara.

Back to the differences in play though, if there is one thing I've noticed it is Japanese players being able to adapt to different opponents much quicker. Even scrubbish to moderate Japanese players seem to adapt and punish much better than us.

You dont remember his name? I would imagine hes one of the 4-5 hardcore shun players I met in akihabara over the summer. Other than itazan and SHU, I would say kissa and tanjun are extremely strong as well but I dont think either of them would want people to think SHU mentored them.

I never got his name, only the gamer tag which wasn't his. But he said he has never played VF5 in Japan because he's been here for awhile. Funny about the mentoring - he seems pretty humble.

played some good games last night. Was able to rank up to 10Dan then back to Master then got schooled by a japanese Kage and went back to 9th dan

    Anyways:
ikap killa (Eileen): good matches was able to rank up to Master from him, but I got really bored playing against him especially when I knew a 10th Dan lurked and he was a 8th dan constantly challenging me. Gave a lot of games to him just being stupid and trying different things. He was getting annoying because I didnt care to play him and he kept challenging... finally had to text message him that playing rank with me is a waste of time because nothing is coming out of it for him or I.

    Then came the japanese:
ozaki3: not sure who this was but he was really good with Kage. Even though i won a few rounds the experience was awesome.

Jimachan and sinta0123 were nest and they were good matches but nothing like the 1st guy

The amazing thing is that connection speed was damn good. NO lag whatsoever. Damn I wanta fiber optic connection too /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

hahaha that's good old Ikapkilla... he will just keep on challenging you if he thinks your a strong player or someone who probably gave him a little trouble. I actually enjoy playing with him, but I can understand why you felt like it was a waste of time since he was only 8th dan. I hope I run into him tonight when I am playing.
