finally got a minute

Overall, one thing I'd like to say is how much of an impact being friendly in the smallest ways between people has made on me & the matches I play. A perfect example is getting a simple "wants to be your friend" from someone like DubC, or Faded's kind words. These simple gestures turn otherwise annonymous, sometimes tense battles into something that feels more like learning/playing together with a competitive spirit. I'd encourage everyone to take the extra couple of seconds to toss out a kind word/friend invite, it's made the whole thing so much more enjoyable!

Manjimaru: you're tough! I had a lot of fun playing, even with the lag. Sorry about the lag thing, I was really just always wanting to say Hi more than get involved w/ trying to seriously battle. I'd love to play some Player matches w/ Aki when I get time.

Faded: dude, Goh's PK- back turned nitaku is killing me! I've gotten lucky dodging the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif a few times, but when you counter hit then get me with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif @_@;;;! I always forget to try to fuzzy, but I have a feeling I'm gonna stand right up into the Catch Throw.

S Aki: such fun games, I'd like to get in some player matches! At first I thought maybe you were William. I like your jeffry a lot, it's pretty versatile.

Sudden Death: we need some player matches as well, I was so happy to get hit with the Jeffry /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif -> low back throw setup from the early days of VF5, finally getting to see it somewhere other than youtube! Your Jeffry gets my vote for the best ATM.

Dub C: We definately need to set up some player matches. To be honest, I think atm your defense is pretty good, while your offense is still budding, which is the opposite of most Akira players who're learning! It's really throwing me off, I feel so tense playing you because of it, I haven't been able to loosen up against you. Seriously, I feel more comfortable fighting Rodney, Dre or Manji, because I know what they're doing, even if I'm getting worked! We should train together soon, I'll invite you.

w. regards to the Japanese, if you check the gamercards, it'll ususally say "Japan" in the comment box if they haven't written anything in there. Also, there was just suddenly a flood of talented 10th Kyu players. I made friends with one pretty good Blaze named something like "imen", I'll check. Also found a good Wolf, Lei and Jeffry. The connections are TOTALLY playable for me, I'd compare it to my connections with Sudden Death and Konjou.

It seems retarded to pick a match w/ an 8th kyu player when I'm Kaidan now, but they'll challenge me too, so what the hell.

Konjou explained it in the other thread -- he's a Taiwanese student living in LA. Cool dude, always great games.

 

According to the info I got from him he is a taiwanese student who lives in LA. After playing him this morning from 4:30am - 5:30am im convinced their is no way this guy could be shang. Way to good and does way to many advanced setups and traps. Plus based on the times of day that I have run into him it does seem like he is living in another time zone.


by the way i just wanted to add that i have yet to hear the guy speak. Even in the middle of death matching he stops moving and sends me a text message. LoL any ways just wanted to let everyone know to not be offended if he doesnt talk, just be honored to be playing with him.

Just want to say good games to all I've played recently.
Especially you Konjou Akira. Sickest Akira I've played ever.
Think i've played you as rodnutz a few times as well.

 

Yea that was me... I use that account to kind of hide in the shadows while I learn other characters. I noticed when I host games as Konjou Akira, no one joins as much. Sometimes I sit their waiting for an opponent which seems like forever or when I join games people do silly things like self ring outs and such. I apologize to anyone if my style is overly aggressive and intimidating. Just trying to make my Akira fierce and keep him sharp. As Rodnutz, only the hardcore people know it's me and since I am not playing Akira, players join my matches as quick as I can host.

 

Great games last night. Honestly, I don't know why defensive stuff comes naturally to me. We had the benefit of no lag last night, which when I can really pull out the good stuff like evading double palm/elbows, etc. on reaction. Fuzzying is also something that has grown to be almost second nature to me: any time someone moves in at neutral, if I get hit by a move and don't see an attack for a split second, etc. but it bytes me sometimes on live due to lag. I can't break the habit though, and it's a good practice, so I want stop even if I get hit by moves that I KNOW I properly fuzzied.

My lack in offense is still due to my newness to playing on a stick and having to be so precise. I've only played on a stick for one month of my life - ever since this game came out. That, and the fact that many things that I have down pat offline: single palm to elbow, youhou juggles, 46p>p>3346p I miss online and it sometimes deters me from going for them. I still don't know all the time when I should be using youhou.

A lot of good players want to sit around and rank all day, which is fine, but I would like to play against a lot of good characters so I can learn what their characters are capable of. It's good to actually get an offer from someone to play player matches. Frankly, I was getting frustrated on LIVE last night, because the skill level of the players is so low. I don't want to sit around and waste my time owning kyuus. Seems skill really starts to pop out around 4th dan+. (although, at the time when you challenged me, I was going for a 160-100 record, which you guys didn't seem to want me to get -_-)

I've been looking forward to playing VF for years now (almost 4 years - no PS2). Now that I have my head around the system, I am seeing it in all of it's beauty and I truly love the game. Best fighter I've ever played. Now we just need the talent from VFDC to play each OTHER so we can all learn from each other (especially the new guys like me!). /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Edit: Although one person I do want to play again in ranked is Konjou. The one time I played his Akira he took me by surprise. I don't think I've ever lost that badly to another Akira player. I want to prove to myself that I'm better that I can do better, and I don't trust Konjou to play that viciously in player matches (there, we were going back and forth about 50/50, so it came as even more of a shock when he ripped me to shreds in that ranked match).

 

Good games akiralove, I wanted to give you some good matches, but I was playing with so much pain. I could barely move my left arm, and my thumb felt like it was popped out of it's socket. I'd already been playing for 8 hrs. Sorry about that. Only reason I got any wins was because I was at least able to react to the moves and dodge/punish. My execution was freakin horrendous. I want more matches against you though later. Looks like Bay Area to LA is crystal clear connection.

I finally got to play a legitimate game agains't KoD. GG man, that was fun and it's always a pleasure getting a match in with some of the elite from here.

Nice and chill guy to talk to and an awesome kage while im at it. Played for nearly 2 hours with the guy and i learned alot of stuff from him. Thanks for the long session man!

 

GG Chibi, you're Akira has very good potential. You pick up things really well too. I'm looking forward to playing you again.

 

I'm still stuck fighting Jacky players that think backing off to the other side of the screen gives them an advantage.

 

They want you to run in, so they can use his kick ground bounce.

 

Yeah and it never works either, running in and blocking is pretty easy, haha.

 

Good games to you to Chun. I want to say that sometimes when Im on, I can only seem to play certain people. Like last night when we played back 2 back matches, seems like I could only connect with you. Its kind of weird sometimes, But it was still a blast. I also had the pleasure of fighting Yupa VFDC and Adam Yuki. Its so nice to play against other VFDC players. Playing on live has turned out to be much more fullfilling to me because of all the different styles that real people have. And the interaction with you guys, after seeing the names on here for years and wondering where I would fit in, would my nerves get the best of me, and what are these guys really like? I think VF5 online ability is going to make 'this community' much stronger. GG's to all you guys.......

I've just recently purchase my xbox360, in fact, the main reason i got one (rock band was the second reason) was because i read that this game is excellent online...and it sure didn't disappoint!

my gamer tag is beff241, i'm a re-beginner (stopped playing vf4 since there was no one to play) and look forward to playing some of you. i usually play wolf with nothing customized(don't know how to get stuff yet, just jumped online right away). i may have played some of you but i don't remember any tags.

here's to some futer gg's! i'll be on the lookout for people on this board now!
