1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

That's the same argument as you referencing you're own wiki entries to show that it's a standard term. We could change the command lists, and it would probably be just as consistent, if not more, at least the way I understand the definitions of those terms. And then you can stop complaining about how you don't like "sabaki-reversal"...

It's been noted as a sabaki since he has been in the game.

It is a sabaki (and is listed as such on Japanese sites).

I gave it a specific name just for classification purposes because they don't fit that mold of the "standard" sabaki; it's still just a sabaki.

    Seriously, deja vu.

It a sabaki reversal because it animates regardless of what your opponent does. An inashi only animates if the opponent hit your reversal with active frames. Like Akira's 4P+K is an inashi but his 4P+K+G is a sabaki reversal...

    That's a reversal.

Now someone is going to make a post nitpicking this and avoid the entire discussion; if history chooses to repeat itself.

Holy shit this stuff is confusing... We need some English terms we can agree on. This Japanese shit is throwing everyone off badly.

Goh, unfortionately is not a character for begginers. I think this one of the beauties of VF, as Goh cannot dispatch combos like Vanessa, Pai, Lau or Lei, his strenghs lie in his throws, although faster characters have the advantage even noobs can succed over a more experienced Goh player.
    I would suggest:
    - Go to the dojo, practise all of his throws.
    - Learn his ground based submission moves
    - Utilise the running toe kick (it can be followed up, and the kick causes great damage)
    - Also train your blocking skills
    Hope This Helps

    No it's not.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif has always been known as a reversal.

Yes. But japanese terms are overwhelming. Okizeme, Sabaki, Inashi and blah blah blah. Whatever. Everybody should just say what he likes. I always say: "ugh, cool move"

You can call it whatever you want, but for the sake of comprehension, it is best to be using a common set of terms. If the terms are overwhelming, this might be helpful - VF Glossary

Inashi are parries. They make no sound ,save the characters Kiai. All they do is parry the enemies attack away, and in Pai and Aoi's case they also throw attackes off balance similar to the way a throw escape does. Sabaki are ATTACKS that defeclect specific incoming attacks. Sabakis make that "squish sound, then impact a counter attack. Goh's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif sabakis, as does his /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. Goh's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif however, inashis low punches.

Learning Japanese VF terms arent that hard, they are just interchangable with VF terminology you should already know in english if you are any good.

    Goh's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif makes the characteristic "squish" sound so that can't be right...

yeah???I dont remember hearing it. Im sure dont hear the squish when Pai or AOI inashi. Your shit just gets pushed away like youre a minor annoyance setting you up for their inevitable attack.

Maybe GOh's inashimakes the squish sound because its intended to be followed up by the tskami, whereas Pai and AOi's inashi havve no CAnned combos.

Sabakis make the squish sound as it counters a move, inashis like pai's don't make a sound they are essentially the same as the reversal for the most part regardless of who has the reversal, sabaki or inashi in question.

Don't ever bother with tsukami follow up; use basara, dash in /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif//forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif>combo or even /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif hit throw (there's more options).

What is this VF101? Get the Brady Guide... oh wait, it isn't that good.

No need for the hit throw. Basara 46p and 33p are Guaranteed and stronger options. 33p combo for lightweights, 46p for quick and easy damage. Basara on mid to heavies.

  19. Gernburgs

These are all guaranteed after a successful /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif sabaki? Basara can't always be guaranteed according to the frame data on the wiki. It says the advantage is 17-25 frames, I thought basara took 20?

Yes, it really depends on how early you applied the sabaki. The earlier the larger the frame advantage.
