Especially when it all comes to 45$ total. That's very evil of them.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">(...)stupid of Sega to lessen the value of DLC items by making them visible only to players who also have happened to purchase the same DLC pack. (Perhaps if there was a way to temporarily download the items before a fight...)</div></div>
I hope they allow us to download compatibility DLCs for free and clearly hint at people that they can't see the other player's customizations.
Temporarily downloading the items would be silly and there's no need for that. Just let people download all the items for free but don't let them use them on their own character unless they pay for the unlock code, which would be perfectly fair considering the price of the game and the DLCs.

      <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">

      Dude...

Actually such a short answer doesn't really do justice to what you wrote so I will go with:
      Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu...

reasonable price for half built game, i removed the game from my buying list after the missing of quest mode, but that price will be a good reason to buy it and test it. i hope there is something encourage me to continue playing it for years same the original VF5 [IMG]

Can't wait for this. I got into VF when my friend bought VF4, but he instantly got bored of it, so I had to make due with Kumite. I really liked Lau, but switched to Brad in EVO which I barely played, because again, I had no one to play it with.

Didn't have a 'next-gen' console until VF5 was already dated, so I didn't bother with it until FS was announced. Picked up 5O for $11 new on eBay like 6 weeks ago, and it seems unrealistically great; I say this as someone who has played basically every fighter released since 2009, except Mortal Kombat.

I still like Brad a lot, but today I randomly discovered that El Blaze is a lot of fun too, and I played like 100 matches against the CPU with him. I really hope people buy this game, it's so good. I'd never play 100 matches against the CPU in one day any other fighter, unless I was specifically trying to unlock something...

This was actually pretty much exactly what I was hoping that SEGA was going to do with the pricing. Needless to say I couldn't be happier with this news!

This is a limitation of the XBLA system... The base game just about fits in with the two gig requirement... You should be addressing your concerns at MS's door.

This isn't a problem with PSN but both versions needed to be the same.

The DLC system is fair and they're giving you a huge discount on buying 10 characters. They're basically saying just buy everything you won't be disappointed.

They've already said you cannot see the items you haven't purchased.

Both versions cost the same price as a full price game over here. So i'm not too upset. I mean you can wait for the prices to fall if you like as with DLC content.

I noticed a lot of questions being asked in this thread have been answered in the past. Majority of the answers can be found in the updated VF5FS Console FAQ.

Treating a subset of the customers like cattle to be milked just because they don't know about frame data is somewhat dickish.

What in heaven are you talkling about? I swear this is the mosty incoherent trollish post (aside from mines) I ever read.

how old are you cla? 12? how are your writing assignments going at college? please ask Libertine to help with coursework because if your essays are as good as your posts here you are in the shit.

Pretty much agreed with you there Dennis. This game has been long overdue to come out, but i guess the long waiting for it allowed for it to come out when DLC is also seen as that; possible "Long Road" to later disc release someday should it do extremely well on XBoxlive and PSN in the years ahead.

Anyways folks wanted to chime in with my two cents and add my voice next to you all and say i'm glad VF5:FS release is happening now and that this is a great day to see the title regain its appreciation by its fans. Not only do i look forward to playing and immersing myself once more into things VF related far more often but also, to see the fans of the series take this title come up with all sorts of 'events' held both online and offline spring up for it undoubtedly in the months ahead.

Despite the harshness some of us still have for Sega. Can't hate on them currently with this decision they've finally come around to making for VF5 though, overdue or not.

Just as it would be a crime to allow someone to have a "full game," for free, but, call it a demo, and put a lock on it. You're paying for something you already have.
Forget ethics, from a technical standpoint, it's the exact same thing.
And, you've contradicted yourself. You say you want other people to see your items, yet, say it's unfair that they should have to pay twice for something they already bought...
      They didn't buy it.

In that case, they bought the visual aspect of the DLC. They did not buy the aspect of the DLC that makes it okay for them to use it. Totally different.

But, if someone else can't see my items... Why would I care? I'm not looking at what's on their screen anyhow, and I'll be able to see others, because I'm buying the full set.

Maybe, for people that are really picky, there needs to be a filter option, so you can only see people that bought everything.
Temporary downloading pieces would lag minutes onto the load screen.. Imagine doing this for all 8 people... who knows how big the cache is... If it's only for 1 person, you're looking at less that 8 fights in 30 minutes.

Apparently, 360 has a limit. And, I guess, on PSN, they could have done things differently, and, thus, had it even cheaper, which would have pissed microsoft off, so, the PS3 version had to be gimped to match the settings.

But, looking at the bright side of things, there's optionally, a lot less to download.

Also, keep in mind that not being able to see items you haven't purchased yet doesn't mean that they truly are not included in the initial download of the game. This could also be a last-minute trick by Sega to hide the fact that you technically already paid for these items. We won't know for sure until hackers dig around the game's files and/or we can see the file size of the DLC items.

A casual player is not going to spend 45 dollars on a game, when you can get the full thing for 15. Why would they pay triple? It's actually the pros being "taxed," because they know the game is cheap, a steal, and they want to support sega...
But, taxed isn't the correct word, as it's totally optional. Think of the people buying for one character. You better buy for one character. If you buy for 2, or more, you may as well get the entire set.
      Well, I hope I don't run into you.... -_____-
      Kidding.. lol.

      A couple of things....

I am not a fan of paying for phantom DLC that isn't DLC but is already on the disc. I think it is a deliberate scam to prey on children who buy games. So I agree with your base philosophy. However, I don't think that is the case here and don't think that things really are the way you see them in this situation.

Remember we are talking about a download only game here. Including DLC on the disc saves bandwidth. But there is no disc here so there is no bandwidth to save by including it in the initial download. While it is possible that Sega will risk angering fans simply because they are stupid, they have nothing to gain and no dollars to save from doing it that way. Since we are dealing exclusively with download context

Next, they aren't exploiting the casuals for the sake of the hardcore. VF doesn't have any casual fans, they are all hardcore. But even if there were casual fans they would only have to pay $15, because they wouldn't care about the customization. The hardcore fans are the ones who will pay more. It is the exact opposite of what you said.

I regret having answered to Cla's post... The dumb part about temporarily downloading items, among everything else, makes it clear that he's just trolling.
To my defense, I was sleep deprived.

People really need to stop using the term 'trolling' so liberally. Cla is complaining, not trolling. People on the internet are super entitled, and will complain about anything. Trolling would be going to a VF forum and saying 'dude, this game looks stupid as hell, why would any of you want it lol, I'm gonna wait for TTT2 and play more Tekken 6 in the meantime because guess what it's newer than this game enjoy your old game'. I'm getting pretty tired of seeing it everywhere. 'You disagree with me? You're trolling!'

The base game is $15, and anyone who thinks that's too much is an idiot, but not necessarily a 'troll'. Can we stop talking about that post now? (I say, as I make a post talking about it [IMG] )

I'm the first guy to frown whenever someone uses a word or sentence that they clearly don't understand.
Cla was talking about Sega being evil, complaining when there's nothing to complain about, and giving a dumb suggestion.
He has to be doing it on purpose, just to provoke people.

And no, we can't stop talking about his post because it's ultra mega super important!

      Let's get this clear people:

There is NO phantom DLC or whatever you want to call it. When you buy the base game that is all you are getting. There is nothing hidden. Why? Because the file is only about 2GB. Why? Because Xbox Live has a limit on Downloadable Game size.

Recent example: Warriors Orochi 3 was released on PSN for download, but had to be released for 360 as a physical copy because of Live's limit.

So it was literally impossible for them to have all the character items included in the base game for download. Or they could have followed Koei and have it digital on PS3 and physical on 360, but charge full price. The upside is we have a choice in what content we want than paying $50-60 for a packaged retail copy.

Yes, corporations are money hungry fiends, but can we keep our skepticism at bay until we have just evidence?
