Where can those Generic ASiD PS3 to PS2 Adapters be purchased the future shop.com site seems to only ship to Canada. These adapters seem to be better than elecom. Also does anyone know where you can even buy HRAP3 right now..

    KoD,

Everything seems instant though, not just commands; but movement. Are you saying I wouldn't notice it by crouch dashing, or evading/OM/DM? Basic movement such as that? Basically, nothing feels any different than back when I was playing Evo on PS2 (which my stick is wired for).

Of course that's not to say there isn't lag; I just (thankfully) haven't noticed anything thus far, and I've been playing quest mode for hours on end since my elecom JC-PS201U arrived this past Saturday. Also, the last converter I was using worked (sort of), but had a noticably bad signal, as the input directions weren't even registering half of the time. Whereas the elecom seems to be perfect :/.

Yeah, as long as the converter isn't messing up the commands themselves, you aren't going to notice if it is delaying things during normal movement - the df, neutral, df is still going to come out as a crouchdash. The only way you're going to notice is if its harder to respond to things on screen in time. Like, for instance:

    No lag:
    fP______K (your input)
fP______K (game's view of your input)
    __fP_____G (opponent's input)
    ____CH__down (what happens on screen)

You saw the counter hit, pushed kick, the kick registered in time, and knocked the opponent down.

    With lag:
    fP______K (your input)
_fP______K (game's view of your input)
    __fP_____G (opponent's input)
    ____CH__guarded (what happens on screen)

You saw the counter hit, pushed kick with the same timing, but the game received the command late due to lag, so the opponent's guard was successful.

but, again, if it seems ok, don't worry about it.

INFORCER07! We've got both the hrap3 & the virtua stick high grade...get the VSHG. The price is comparable but the VSHG is just better. No contest.

    You can go to play-asia.com...

You'll pay about $50 per stick for shipping but it will get to you in two days.

    KoD,

I'm going to take the latter advice from you and just enjoy the game. I'll get a pelican or nyko when they come out. But I've been unable to detect any lag thus far with the elecom (haven't done any vs. play yet).

It would seem that if there is indeed lag in the JC-PS201U, then it is NOT worth the cash for certain people. For me though, it was totally worth it; I got to enjoy the game for over a month before the US converters came out. It all depends on what you are willing to do to enjoy the game I guess...

    Really!?

So the Pelican is all we have to rely on. Thanks Markman, you and your links have been helpful and informative :).

Let's just hope the Pelican is still on the way. If not, you will HAVE to find us a link for the PS2/PS3 converter that you reviewed (as being flawless) on your site.

I'm still trying to figure out who makes it/where I can get more of them online... no luck as of yet...

But hopefully the Pelican one does pull through!

Btw, on your site you mention that the pelican converter will be out sometime in April. Any ideas as to exactly when? I've been hearing the beginning of May, and 2nd quarter 07 everywhere else.

I've just heard April from one of the Pelican employees. That's all I know... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

But he at least confirmed that they work on PS2 games and there is no lag whatsoever.

If you get a definite release date and a link to buy, please post it here if you can. Thanks again.

Ok, without trying to sound like an uber noob, would it be better to buy one of those converter things and use my Hori RAP that I have for the ps2, or would the VSHG be a better option?

Is the VSHG better than the RAP for the ps2 in terms of performance, and is the VSHG better than the RAP for the ps3, again in terms of performance?

Sorry if this sounds lame, I know nothing about all this techno nonsense.

    Thanks guys,

    Ev2

VSHG only works on PS3 games for now... doesn't work for PS2 games or for PS2 system.

If you have the choice, just go with whatever you're more comfortable with for VF.

Although I will say, there are a lot more ppl that prefer plug and play easeness/quality/feel of VSHG over HRAP+converter combos...

Sounds like the VSHG is your absolute best option for a Japanese style stick (which most VFers prefer). I've heard from just about everyone on here, that the VSHG is superior to the Hori RAP. Go to the thread VSHG vs. HRAP3 for all of the details.

If you are used to your Hori RAP, and you've played VF using it in the past; you can always wait for a pelican converter to come out (supposedly sometime this month), and see how your RAP works for you with VF5. All fingers point to the VSHG being the best stick for PS3 VF5. The former option might work just fine for you though, and will be MUCH cheaper. It will only set you back $10 for a pelican converter.

I can't wait until May to play it!

Are there any converters that don't have any problems or lag or anything that are out now?

What would be the price difference between getting one of those and getting a VSHG?

  20. MarkMan

    MarkMan Well-Known Member

Well most converters are anywhere between 15-25 dollars before shipping... the ones that work at least...

A VSHG will cost you at least $100 shipped...
