Not yet, but you'd be wasting your money.

    Here's the gist of it:

Crappy, plotless, glorified action movie with the Final Fantasy name to sell it. Throw in FFVII characters, and everyone goes nuts. No plot, no direction. Boring as hell. I hated the movie, and I still do with a passion.

If you honestly think this is better than Spirits Within... Ugh! Spirits Within was great! It just had a rushed ending, that's all. This was just ridiculous.

Well it is a fan based movie. I loved it. Best looking 3D animated film to date. Lots and lots of action which I expected anyway. I didn't expect much of a strong if any storyline. I fell bored watching spirits within because although it had the FF name to it, it didn't feel like it should have the name watching it. If it had a different name to the movie and was still made by Square then I might of seen it as a diff movie NOT expecting to see anything relating to the games themselves. Spirits within had one thing in common with the game and it was a minor thing, the chocobo picture on the suits.

Well, to be honest, I can't see people who aren't fans of the FF series going to see an FF movie anyway, and if it is enjoyable to the target audience, then I would say it is a success.

Namflow bought the DVD for about fifty bucks when it came out here in Japan... Now keep in mind we wern't the biggest FF7 fans, and we could only understand so much of the Japanese, but man was it enjoyable... The special effects were great... definitely been a while since I felt that way after seeing a movie...

then again, after thinking about it, maybe the fact that I couldn't understand the convoluted plot and could only make out Cloud saying badass things like "the fight is about to begin" increased my enjoyment!

The DVD was released here in the U.S. yesterday and I made sure it was at the top of my Netflix list...well, the battle scenes are indeed amazing and probably the best I've seen for an animated feature. The graphics are good, but somehow the characters seemed a little stiff to me in their animation and expressions.

The story....made me cry. In pain. And I liked FF7.

Curiousity got the better of me!

One nice thing they did do though is "Reminisence of FF7" bonus feature for the DVD. So this was a collection of clips from the game that sort of gave an overview of what happened in the game. It wasn't enough of an overview that a non-FF7 player could watch and then know what was going on in the movie however.
