start playing at 2pm would be good, any later will cause people problems travelling back home. like myself who doesn't live in london will need to leave the tourney around 10pm to catch the train home, plus sunday service is the worst. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

i think the tourney will take 7-8hrs if everyone has to play everyone, i have a feeling it'll be more than 30 people to turning up, this is gonna be the biggest and best yet! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

see you all this weekend, laterz.

damn what pussys! if the sticks that shit it aint even worth coming down troc for normal play!
if ur a fan of vf an can play on sticks, you should come down!
not all this, ohh i can only play on sanwa/korean/hori or namco sticks BS!
only excuse thats real is work/school or lack of cash!
    get me!

To be quite honest people can complain because you know f*cking what THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO!.
They have a right to complain about air conditioning and etc.
I don't give a damn nobody plays properly when conditions are poor.

Question1: Basically I have been told that to have the machine on free play I have to pay a certain amount each hour so if we get like 30 people altogether for the tournament, how many hours do you think it will take?

    [/ QUOTE ]
fucking ages. if you have 30 people and everyone plays everyone then that is 435 matches. that's not a typo: 435 matches. even just 15 people is 105 matches. given that every match is approx 4 mins and changeover is maybe 1 min, that means in theory even with 15 folks the entire thing takes about 8 hours. thank god it's over 2 days haha.

    [ QUOTE ]

Question 2: I think that 12pm maybe too early for some people to be there, should I make the starting time later? If so what time do you all suggest? Remember, we all want to have time for regular challenges afterwards too!

    [/ QUOTE ]
the earlier the better i guess (if you say midday i bet some folks would turn up, and you could at least get their games done) but whoever is monitoring it (i guess that would be you) is going to be pretty tired even by 5pm. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

    [ QUOTE ]

I am setting the entrance fee to £2 per day, per person as this is a 2-day event and I need to make sure I have enough to pay for the time that the machine is on free play.

    [/ QUOTE ]
how much is it, out of interest? if you're worried about this you could always ask troc to set it on the same settings as 3s; that is, 2 credits per coin and Event Mode. Event Mode lets you have one two-player battle for one credit, and with the settings on 2 credits per coin that works out as 25p per battle. pretty cheap. if you had 30 people enter, then you would have to charge them about £4 each but that would cover all the matches. it sounds a lot, but then each player is getting 29 matches from it.. they would normally get 8 for that price haha. but let's say freeplay is £10 per hour (heh).. well with 30 folks entering you're talking about 30 hours of gaming, which is £300. the sums are easy, you'd have to ask them to pay £10 each. shocking, but true.

well anyway, enough meddling. we've been running 3s RB at troc for a while and personally i think it's cheaper to have it on event mode and use the entry fee to pay for the matches, but then that all depends on how much it is for freeplay /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif and of course you don't get any free casual matches. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    see you all this weekend!

Erm Onny isn't that 210 matches
    15 people so that's
    15 x 14 people since people can't play themselves.
Or does the ranking system work another way ??

you're right if everyone plays each other twice. if they play each other once it's the number i posted.

I'm new to this, and by virtue of incompetance of the people at the mail order company I've only played VF4, not Evo, so far. Never the less, I'll be there! Maybe this week I'll receive the copy of Evo that I ordered... I hope it's not too different /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

    hi there

hey a new guy to the scene! good to have ya on board and attending the trny. I'm sure I'll spot u since u'll be a new face to me. I'm a Goh and Kage player (weird combo I know).

heh, if u told me u went yesterday to the Troc and u are a Brad player who beat a Goh and wolf player with glasses then u've just played one of my team members called Bare Knuckle (thebigbadwolf). He was telling me last night about it.

    anyway, seeya at the trny.

EVO has 2 new players and some moves are different for characters. Also note that arcade version in the Troc is Version A which means some good things from Version B isn't in there (PS2 version).

Well, I've already said this on UPG but anyhow...

I plan to come, although I may not be able to (waiting for family money)

Besides, this torurnament needs a loser, and I'm happy to fill that position /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Anyhow I have a question about Shun that may be of interest:

[P],[K],[P]+[K]+[G] (to handstand) [P]+[G] (is it reliable?)

    Not one of Shun's best setup's ,
but in answer to your question , no not at first,
after you've conditioned people to block the kick hit off the handstand then it comes into play,
otherwise I really only use it now and again for fun,
it's too obvious, so can't be abused /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Nice to see some new London peeps takin an interest in VF!

That would work in my favour, I'm really a pad player. As for the amount of people, 20 would be a nice number IMO.

Only kidding use above if you can get away with it

its hard to actually give out pointers just try and learn your mistakes and work on improving them

and learn to learn your opponent and their weakness' /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif which isnt easy
