just wanted to know how do companies make money from arcades do they share the credits that are put in the machiens or sumthin?????/

Urm they SELL the games to the arcades, just like you buying a console game reatil.
EVO is a special case tough as arcade operators pay network fees and stuff to have the machines connected so Sega/AM2 makes money on em as long as they remain popular.

Didn't sega sell Evo in the UK at a highly discounted price? I wonder how much that affected the sales (and in fact why they would discount i heavily if it sold so well).

Nah, it sold full-price over here £39.99.

I think you're thinking of the US, where it sold as a greatest hits title for $19.99.

i thought evo sold next to nothing here in the UK, it didnt even make it in the top 40 games charts which I only on occasion look at. Though 1st VF4 did really well. I think sega europe is mainly concentrating in areas within europe besdies the UK as none of there titles are doing much here. Such as gun valkyrie, shenmue 2, panzer dragon orta, sonic adventure DX, shinobi and evo. Also billy hatcher is out on the 7th and not a whiff of promotion has been seen and I only just found out about it. I think the UK is not segas main priority no more.

The first week or two after its release I noticed it in the local Game charts at no 2 or 3, but yea no mention in the all-formats chart.

Having said that, it's possible Evo has been drip selling based on the great press it's got and the hardcore following. Allot of titles sell like this and reach high numbers without having ever appeared in the charts.

Atari(Infogrames) sells Sega´s games in Europe, they are pretty big in mainland Europe but not that prominent in the UK.

Thats not the case anymore, Evo was actually published by Sega in Europe, and Sega Europe have now moved towards full-time publishing. God knows where they get the cash from......

Infogrames might still have some Sega titles in the pipe, however.

Sega didnt publish it, Sega Europe takes care of logistics and dealings with SoJ, Atari still publishes as is evident from the fact that Sonic Heroes will be handled by them.

Sorry, but Sega did publish VF-Evo in Europe. I have the game and there's no mention of Atari or Infogrames, plus this kind of confirms it:

    Quote:

The first game to be self-published by Sega Europe will be Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II in May, closely followed by Sonic Adventure DX and Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution , which are both scheduled for release in Europe in June. New screenshots of all three games released today can be viewed by clicking on the above links.

I'm trying hard not to get picky about this, but where the fuck do you get your facts from? You frequently make claims, seemingly pulled from thin air, and defend them till you're blue in the face. A while ago it was baseless crap about AM2 and Yu Suzuki, and now this.

It's annoying. And more so because I just came in after losing an importand tennis match in 5 sets.......... /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif

He knows plenty of industry folk in Europe and the states, buddy boy, and he's got plenty of written material to back it up. Ask him how much Nintendo loves him. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
