For Evo 2013, 7 games have been named on the official line-up - Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Super Street Fighter IV, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Street Fighter x Tekken, Mortal Kombat 9, King of Fighters XIII, and Persona 4 Arena. While Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown was not announced as one of the 7 games, it is still possible for it to be in the official Evo game lineup. On the Wake Up Shoryuken stream, MrWizard (An organizer of Evo) mentioned that any game from the previous Facebook poll that had more than 500 votes is eligible (Final Showdown had 800 plus votes). They have tied these games to a donation drive for the Breast Cancer Research Fund. The game with the most donations will be announced as the 8th game

A couple notes to make pertaining to the donation link for Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown. While the VF5FS donation page does not state it, the recommended minimum donation is $5.00 (The other donation pages have the suggested donation). In addition, while the title states Virtua Fighter 5, it is indeed for Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown. The donation drive ends on January 30th. Update: The donation page now shows the amount of money that have already been donated to the Breast Cancer Research Fund under Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown.

Smash put a ton of money into it the last couple of days.

We could put on a VF side tourney at EVO- it's not like the pot bonus is going to make us play, but I think Sega Cup is what we should concentrate on, as we want Sega to make it annual like they plan.

I'm thinking Sega will wait to see how the Cup plays out before they announce another official side tourny...or not. It would be about the same amount of notice before EVO as last year. Otherwise we're on our own.

I just doubled the amount for the VF5 to Evo fund bringing it to $542.

I know its all in vain with Smash, ST and Skullgirls over $30k but I wanted to show my support for the game I love. Its a shame others in this community don't share my feelings how its important for VF to be involved with Evo.

Have they officially announced which game is the 8th official one?

My donation should make it a an even $600...very commendable contribution Shag considering VF winning is impossible at this point. Still its for a good cause I guess.

btw I'm rooting for ST to make it. THe other 2 games I could give 2 shizniddlers about lol

IT gets announced tonight/tomorrow. looking like ST got a money bomb and is up there with Smash, unless Skullgirls can come up with like $15-20k tonight they're gonna get screwed.

Kinda glad we had Sega Cup so we didn't have to go through with this.

What happens if Super Arcade closes before Sega Cup? I'm going to hold off on committing to Sega Cup until I find out what's going on there. Sounds like super arcade is in serious trouble with a donation drive started.

Shag's gotta a point but Alstein has a point too.

Evo is a big draw, but more people need to show up to things whether it be Sega Cup or Evo or whatever, time permitting.

If Super Arcade closes I'm sure Level Up/Sega will find another venue to host Sega Cup.

ION, Someone made a tracker page for the Evo 8th game donation drive.

Thanks for the link, the 8th official game at Evo will be Super Smash Brothers Melee. Virtua Fighter: Final Showdown finished at 10th place in the drive.

We lost to Divekick in donations? That is disappointing, but good for them.

People support ''trash'' over VF. The FGC's just dont know what games are good do they? SMH

I don't understand the negativity behind this (not just here, but in other FG communities).

Plan and simple, the organisers declared that whichever community raises the most in donations gets the final spot. This has nothing to do with the quality of the game, or who is most "deserving", or if game X is better than game Y, etc.

IMO, it's not the "ideal" way to determine a which game to include on the world's biggest Fighting game stage, but the conditions were stated up front. It's a fantastic way to get a community to put it's money where it's mouth is, and for a great cause too, I might add. Hopefully that community comes through with attendance and support at Evo.

My complaint isn't with the drive. I put in $100 for DOA5, it was a good initiative and it creates good PR for the whole fighting game community.

My issue remains with the selection of the 7 titles before the 8th. VF should have just been in, plain and simple. EVO says it rewards the communities that turn up, and for a side tournament last year, VF freaking showed up.

You could also argue, they would assuredly know the Smash community is huge and there was no need for a drive to prove that... that maybe it should have been in and another game given the opportunity - but then, the result would have been lower (how many P4A or Mortal Kombat players would have donated?)

I just can't work out if the Smash bros paid themselves, or got their parents to. Maybe VF and 3s players are a bit older, and have to pay their own bills in life?
Looking at that chart, seeing what's hot and what's not these days... ultimately, you can take the horses to water but you can't make them drink.

Skullgirls got in anyways, so all is right with the world.

It did? I feel like its floundered in attendance at events, is that wrong?
