For Evo 2013, 7 games have been named on the official line-up - Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Super Street Fighter IV, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Street Fighter x Tekken, Mortal Kombat 9, King of Fighters XIII, and Persona 4 Arena. While Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown was not announced as one of the 7 games, it is still possible for it to be in the official Evo game lineup. On the Wake Up Shoryuken stream, MrWizard (An organizer of Evo) mentioned that any game from the previous Facebook poll that had more than 500 votes is eligible (Final Showdown had 800 plus votes). They have tied these games to a donation drive for the Breast Cancer Research Fund. The game with the most donations will be announced as the 8th game

A couple notes to make pertaining to the donation link for Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown. While the VF5FS donation page does not state it, the recommended minimum donation is $5.00 (The other donation pages have the suggested donation). In addition, while the title states Virtua Fighter 5, it is indeed for Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown. The donation drive ends on January 30th. Update: The donation page now shows the amount of money that have already been donated to the Breast Cancer Research Fund under Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown.

That'd take 20 people to drop $100 each. Gamers are too broke...

VF players tend to be less broke.

i wish this were like a kickstarter and viewers could see how much each game is being donated up to the deadline. i would do my part to get FS at EVO even donating $1k if i knew it would get us over the top. i know one of the main DOA guys is planning on dropping $500.

I've been sniping people on ebay auctions since a while after it was invented (1997). On the last day, as long as the Smash community (or other games) doesn't try to counter-snipe then i'll put my bid in if I know we will win. If it doesn't look like we have a chance by then then I'll donate a few dollars for the cause. Right now theoretically my initial donation would put us at/around 1st place.

I donated $60 earlier this week; that's more than a fourth of the total. I may drop another $40 and make it an even hundred. I know not everybody's got the scratch to spare, but if you do, I recommend dropping a healthy amount. We are here, there's no reason not to donate to a good cause, and we can get VF back in the lineup where it belongs. Believe!

The amount of salt that would ensue seeing VF at top at the very last minute would be astronomical, lol. Remember, the only bad publicity is no publicity.

Dope. While everyone is bitching about $ony or Warner dropping dough on their games, it's ok for small indie devs, haha!

Cobra inspired me to donate. Will do in a few days!

Also, I just found out, publisher donations are not accepted toward the total. This comes from the Twitter of Tom Cannon himself.

      Tom Cannon Tom Cannon @ProtomCannon

FYI, we are not accepting publisher contributions to the Evo 8th game drive. It's a community vote, so the fans decide.

      Hrmm,

I'll keep an eye on this. If a last minute snipe wins this, Cobratron will have forever drinks from me.

Irregardless, should have been main game at Evo.

If we donate and VF doesn't make it, do we get our money back?

No, you will not get your money back. Again, I would recommend people to donate to the Breast Cancer Research Fund if and only if you think it is a good cause and as someone who likes Virtua Fighter.

As much as I think VF should have been one of the 7 games after its great showing last year, and EVO's supposed interest in rewarding communities is a let down, in this drive its not looking good.

However, its sister title DOA has a real shot.

So I put my money to DOA and hope others do too. DOA curing breast cancer, too good.

(And its a great game featuring Akira, Sarah and Pai)
