The VF4 system of evade generally seems to rely on anticipation and when you've got a plan worked out you can move and evade smoothly. When your playing against a beginner though all the situations when you might be able to make your opponent whiff (or put some doubt in their mind) with BD's and evades are probabley not gonna work well at all. you could end up making continous failed evades and needless movements that get you nowhere.

I didn't play VF3 extensively or see much high level play, but it seemed as if it was too easy to dodge attacks. Double dodge would get me right around my opponent with no particular timing. I can't remeber how dodge worked in relation to throw.

But I can see how VF3's movement system was very free flowing and not TOO dependant on what my opponent would do.

Everything in high level VF lends itself to fast inputs and movement abilities and techniques. The evade system is fine in my opinion and it's just as good if not better than VF3s. U have 2 play until u have an understanding of the system the way it is. It's not gonna change because we complain about it, and more than likely VF5 will use the same evade system.
