This is why you see players holding G and continuously tapping P. The FS system really keeps you on your toes. You can't even be too lazy with Lazy TE

@Lucky_GT : I have to admit you implement this tech better than Cha-Mame in my opinion. Cha-Mame made me realize how strong this tech is so I really put a lot of thought into how to deal with it. But Cha-Mame only uses one variation of it so if you can predict when he will do it it's not so tough. Against Cha-Mame delayed throws work really well as long as you don't over use it.

You on the other hand seem to use a variation no one else HERE is using at the moment. I don't know the exact commands you are inputting, but I know delayed throws definitely don't work well against it. Delayed throw can catch you some of the times, but a lot of the time it can whiff which is not good against someone like you who has great reflexes and can punish the whiff.

I remember last time we roomed there was two incidents where I tried to use delayed throw against you and it completely whiffed. Trust I was shocked and froze both times, because I saw what probably no one else in the room saw. After the second attempt I stopped trying to use delayed throws on you. I guess since I knew about the tech it was easy for me to recognize it and make adjustments on my part. Sadly it didn't stop the training you was driving and we all still got spanked pretty good lol. Still though I like when stuff like that happens because there is nothing more I enjoy than trying to find the answer to stopping someones techniques.

@Sudden_Death : I'm pretty sure it's bad command input on your end bro. It's like GT saids, you have delay inputting [P]. It has to be inputted as late as possible or you will not guard and do funny things like walk forward. I used to have this problem with tech rolling and side guard situations. Just play around with it and give it time you will figure it out.

    GT,
Do you mean we can block both mid and low by 866[G](Hold), [P](Hold), 2(3or 1 if preferred)? I'm lost here because if you hold down direction(2), the character eventually will crouch, am I wrong?

Also, when you apply 4 or 6 after that to become a lazt TE, it's impossible to hold down direction(2) to block low sweep, isn't it?

@Rodnutz : I'm using a variation of Fuzzy ETEG from Vanilla VF5 to deal with Akira's delayed guardbreak. I'm doing fuzzy into 833TE sometimes, other times it's just 833TE and I react to the fact a move hasn't come out yet. I know the New York players like using delayed throws in order to bait you into abare so I change my defense in order to deal with this. I'm only using the new Fuzzy ETEG vs. guardbreak characters so you will see it, but I won't use it against Denkai's Jacky.

I believe Cha-mame understands 833TE much better than I do, but I use a bunch of other weird stuff I came up with to deal with certain character matchups.

@Chief_Flash : If you answer my question, I'll answer yours!

    EDIT:

@Dennis0201 : You will evade the mid attack, unless they delayed it.

If your purpose is to evade the mid, why not just use 833(hold)G(hold) to block low sweep? I'm not sure what's the advantage you mentioned above by 866[G](Hold), [P](Hold), 2(3or 1 if preferred). I though you were able to block both mid and low but it doesn't make sense to me.

yeah..i dont think theres a technique to block mid and low, that would be godlike. what i think this does is bring you closer to duck since the 33 gets you faster. you still have to guess thought...

833G is actually not as effective at blocking low sweeps because 833G takes longer to complete than 866G2 (Thanks Shou!). With 866G2 your exiting the evade as fast as possible and using the fact that if you hold 2 even a frame before the low hits, you're character will crouch block it even though they haven't fully crouched yet. With 833G you will actually get CH by the low sweep more often because your character will still be executing a crouch dash when the low sweep actually hits. You also cannot not TE and block a low sweep using 833G nearly as easily.

If you do 866G2 method you can evade the mid, tech a throw and block a low sweep.

If you do 833G method you can evade a mid but likely lose to a low sweep and not tech a throw. 833G on its own has other applications like dealing with Mid-mid chains, but it's not good for dealing with low sweeps.

so, to evade a mid, tech a throw and a low sweep.. the whole sequence would be:

    866G, tap 2 (for a split second?),hold p +4/6 (to escape a throw) ?

  16. Lucky_GT

    Lucky_GT Well-Known Member

    Nah, it's 866G(hold)P(hold)2.

Just add a direction with P for any TE you want.

    EDIT:

    @Drift : A late lazy TE!

866,G(hold),P+direction,2. You can let go of P after/while ducking. It's not a lazyTE in this case, so much as a late TE.

I think I understand what you mean here, sorry I was twisting your words and got confused. It's very clear that you mention mid-mid strings/chains. Because once press G after the successive evade, the rest of strings become trackable, and that's why I thought you were able to do something impossible to block both mid and low. :)

It's been kinda forgotten about in this thread, but the technique mentioned in the Arcadia 147 thread is a SPECIAL CASE of this technique for forward throw escapes. It's faster to input 8,6P+G(release P)6,2 than 866G(hold),P+direction,2. Also, the forward dash is cancelled into a guard state a few frames sooner since G is not a separate input. If you intend to escape forward at the end of your Evade-Cancel-TE, this is an option.
