do you think quest mode's A.I emulates close enough to human play?

The F-Zero games have cheating programmed into the AI in addition to GT series AI. They speed up when they are behind, and decrease when they are ahead, this gives the impression that the race is closer than it actually is, though they are still cheating....

Mariokart DD sadly is still like that.

lol, the grand daddy of cheating racing games is..... *steps up to hand trophy* SONIC R!

hard mode = CPU is litteraly faster and you have to use speed boosts and short cuts to stay ahead, no chance of a close race at all! /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

har har, funee Traverlers Tales... coding sucky - unbalanced - blatant teir ranged games..

What's this thread about again.....? /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Anyways, most racing games are notorious for having cheating AI routines woven into the game, but there is not much we can do ('cept for useless petitions /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif).

Also the AI in EVERY SINGLE RTS game cheats, because the AI has the advantage of not having to deal with fog of war, the computer are the most L337 map hackers EVAR!

But as far as the AI in VF cheating, I think they struggle a little to fast for my taste.....and of course there is still the fact that they don't miss combos ever.

I don't know how good a player the ai in Evo quest mode can make you but Virtua Tennis 2's ai is the only ai I've come across that can make you into a genuinely good player against strong human opposition.

If people pay attention to what Blondie and IMF are saying in this thread I think you can indeed come out of Quest Mode with very tight basics (probably beyond the average depending on comittment). The point is that you learn valuable techniques and how to beat the "I don't make mistakes" opponent. If you can do this without resorting to holes in the AI (not sure if they exist to the extent they did in Version C) then there isn't a reason why you wouldn't fare well against tough human competition.

Ouch (Gran Turismo series is up there with my all time favorites... VF, Quake3, and GT are all I play besides, say Guitar Freaks).

GT2 and GT3 AI disappointed me. I didn't mind GT1 AI. I suppose by rubber band physics you mean "no speed penalty for bouncing off walls."

What racing games do you like?

I second that, seriously though, racing against the GT2 & 3 AI is like watching a train of cars all connected with invisible wires......so boring.......

The AI all take the same exact paths through each race course, it is confirmed (meaning it is a FACT) that this AI behaivor is fixed in GT4, which of course will be very nice!

The best AI is have seen as far as "driving" (not just racing) games goes, is actually Twisted Metal: Black or maybe from the GTA series.

What does suck is that the cars won't slow to avoid collisions a lot of the time though, they'll just pile into you side on as you take a corner.
