Do you still believe in VF5R for consoles?

It also changes a few things, such as side guard after BT, and such. What about other stuff Sega didn't implement yet? 8-way run, More advanced evading, etc.

My question is, can VF5R fit on a Disc?

I can't remember the last time a full game in this generation couldn't fit on a disk

Last one I remember was Project Gotham Racing 4.

They had to remove a lot of the weather effects, it was meant to be able to change weather throughout the courses and there was supposed to be a lot more types of weather but they had to limit it to two per course or something silly cause there wasn't enough room on the disks 360 uses.

I wonder if it was poor programming on PGR4's part or not. PGR actually ended up using more than one disk . . . for weather effects?

If not I mean an actual game that was released for this generation that required two disks to fit the game in it. I can't think of one. I'm sure a company could make a game larger than one disk easily but they don't on average do that.

Yeah it could have been poor programming on their part, that's what I always thought but they just blamed it on the limited disc size. EDIT: It only used one disc btw, they just removed this stuff from the game.

I can only think of three games this generation that came on multiple discs and they are all RPG's. Lost Odyssey, Last Remnant and Blue Dragon. Lost Odyssey was 4 discs, too much FMV I guess /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Management that has never been nor cares for the industry is real fun to work with too.

For me that is the biggest issue. If management has never been in the industry but has a real passion for the people working for them, then it is ok. If they don't care about people but are trying only book smart the bottom line, they will lose the employees and it can ruin efficiencies. Just my 2 cents.

I think we will see VF5R for two reasons in particular:

1) Fighting games seem to be doing very well lately. There's a lot of momentum building for them with increasing online playability.

2) In general, I feel like gaming, and gaming consoles especially, are as deeply integrated into society as they've ever been. I would hope there isn't any game publisher left out there that would spend money for the development of a potential hit game, for the arcade ONLY. I think there are too many people out there that own a 360 or PS3 to just ignore anymore. Even if it isn't a relative smash-hit, it's still basically worth the port... How many copies do you really have to sell to make your fans happy and not lose money (that's what really matters right?)???

That's like making an album and only releasing it on physical CDs; knowing that there are millions of people out there that basically only purchase their music by download. Right off the bat, you're spending basically the SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY to make the album, but only releasing it to a somewhat limited audience. That doesn't make that much sense from a business standpoint.

I think even a lesser-known series like KOF (compared to SF, Tekken, SC and VF) will be a pretty big seller on console now. People are eating fighters and online VS up; the ball is already rolling. Even if SEGA doesn't have the best business sense, they can't be that stupid, I don't want to believe it...

^ Even with all that, Sega still has to think hard about how they are going to market and support the game post release though.

Maybe that's why it's taking so long to hear or anything or maybe we just aren't getting it.

Even if we aren't it would be kind of relieving to have a definite "no" instead of this constant insecure waiting.

They will never outright say "no". Keeping the hope alive is just far better business.

Yes, i believe in VF5R on console!
Why?
...Silly expected announcement on the console when the product has not yet brought to perfection especially in times of crisis. During the entire thread VF5R was just being A-version of.
But despite the crisis SEGA AM-2 continues to improve the product, instead of to save money...
And now when the news about the version of B-VF5R have confidence that in upcoming 3-4 months you can expect the news, i think: an announcements B-version on console or announcements version C (and the subsequent expectation of its announcement on console).

My speculation: VF4 and VF4evo came at intervals of slightly less 1,5 year. What's now? VF5 online was release on 10/30/07, 12/06/07 in Japan (VF5 was raw premature port VF on PS3 (ver.B), because of some System issues like after hit/guard/evasion wos POSSIBLE the o-frame throw unlike ver. C (VF5 online, XBOX360)....So, in later summer/early autumn will be 1,5 year with the release VF5(ver.C) on console...And several monthes before Tekken 6 launch...So i think this is the most likely time for VF5R announses on console.

For this reason, I have two questions:
1)For how long before the release were VF4/Vf4evo/Vf5 announcement on the console?
2)In the coming months, when there will be any large-scale exhibition game\show (which could announce the game)?

Star Ocean has THREE!!!

I think it's because they included a lot of uncompressed HD video... Cut-scenes and what not.

It's been a long time since I've posed here. But who cares…. Anywho… here are my thoughts regarding the whole matter.

As much as I love VF I don't want them to release R on console and then they fuck us up by releasing VFRFT in the arcades. Just like what happened with VFevo and VFft. I'd rather wait till they don't have anything to add to this installment over getting a half assed version that we will play for around 3 months and then we all gonna drool over a new version that got just released on the arcade and probably wont see the day light on console.

From a business stand of view, I don't think its wise to release VF on console this year. coz, you have all kind of fighting games that will be released starting from the up coming 3 months not to mention SF4 trends haven't died yet and also not forgetting that tekken 6 will be released on October. And we all know how tekkens popularity surpasses most of fighting games including our beloved VF.

So to summarize my thoughts, the best thing for us VF fans and for SEGA is to release the game when there is no more room of any kind enhancements to be added around January when the tekken6 trend has slightly faded.

Yea, this is a tricky one here. I C Your point, but I think the
evidence supports a different analysis.

First, Sega released VF5 as one of the only fighting games available for the then brand new PS3. So they had no real competition. Did that bring in droves on new VFers? Did the size of the VF Community grow dramatically while VF was the only fighting game you could get for the PS3? I not sure, but I don't think so.

Second, Sometime the best time to release a game in a genre, is when other similar games have just been released, that allows you to take advantage of the hype, and multigame tournaments etc. Since we've had a rash of fighting games just released, now might be the best time to actually grow the VF community, because the fighting Genre as a whole is a little hot right now. So maybe as people are trying out SFIV, SC4 etc, they might take a look at VF for the first time.

Third, the version thing is most important for those people who have access to other versions. For instance if they're at VF6 and version C in the arcades in Japan and I never go to Japan, and let's say the version for the consoles are VF5 version C, then since all of the people that I would realistically play are going to be on VF5, version C then the current version in Japan
probably won't mean as much to me as it would to the VFers who go
to Japan or live in Japan. If I'm goin up agains PS3 players, then as long as we have the same version, What does it matter?

The version thing on the consoles is really important if the current console version is broken or the balance is really screwy, or major features are missing, like PS3 no-online, that's an issue.

I think its probably more important to keep the PS3 and Xbox on the same version than it is to keep the Arcades and the consoles on the same version. Don't get me wrong, I would like to have the latest and greatest version of VF available, but in terms of
tournaments and competitions that are not in Japan, as long as the consoles are on the same release, then its all good.

BTW. zakira its good to see U back /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
