1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Even they do, they probably won't in sharp.....
At least Kamaage can do us a favor this time, no harm actually~

Rather than asking for VF5r for console which is already two years old in the arcades and many japanese players have not only mastered it but got bored of it as well, I'd like to ask sega to give us a simultaneous release of the next installment of virtua fighter (ie virtua fighter 6) whenever that might be. Personally, I think if vf5r comes out for console and does poorly, it WILL hurt the chances for the next game being released in a foreign market and I would rather not have that happen.

I can hear what everybody says in this thread and I really appreciate Kamaage's generosity, but I can't help agreeing with L_A. The VF communities in both Japan and US has become pretty small, and from a commercial perspective, I don't think SEGA will be willing to port VF5R to console. I believe that it is wise to expect them to develope the next VF game in the near future and bring it to console simultaneously.

Duh, and I agree but keep hope alive baby! (Sides letting us download VF5R can't hurt that bad)

Sorry to veer off subject but getting VF5r released in a best case scenario is a few million dollars once you factor in development, publishing and especially advertising. I'd say that money would be better spent towards something that will have a much larger profit margin.

I disagree with the idea we'd be better off waiting for VF6. I think the VF version we should want released for home consoles should be the most refined, complete version available. I'd rather have VF5R now and wait longer for VF6 than be stuck with an early version of VF6 that never gets updated. Besides, all the awesome work Sega has put into VF5R's customization is one of it's main selling points over vanilla VF5. If we wait for VF6 (and that's assuming there will be a VF6 in the near future) we'll be pretty much back where we started in terms of the game's appeal. But, if Sega is planning on releasing a VF5 Final Tuned or something like that, I'm all for waiting.

All - please only post if you plan on contributing to this effort. If you don't agree with the effort, or if you think it's a waste of your time, then simply don't post.

I don't want to sift through pages full of "debate" tomorrow when I'm putting the document together.

If you're really passionate about debating whether this is "worth it" or not, there are countless other existing "we want VF5R for console" related threads. Choose one. The fact is, Kamaage has reached out to us with an opportunity, one that our community has never before seen. It will cost you literally nothing to lend a hand to this.

The above is directed at no one in particular. Thanks.

Thanks to everyone for their contribution, especially El_Twelve for getting the template started.

I've just finished putting (more like slapping) it all together and have passed it onto kamaage. He'll be meeting SEGA tomorrow so we wish him good luck and thanks again for the opportunity.

The document (Microsoft Word format) can be downloaded here:

    http://virtuafighter.com/downloads/VF5R_Console_Proposal_by_VFDC.zip (1.60 MB)

We'll report back on any news as soon as it comes to hand. Once again, thanks to all who helped out!

Good work everyone and thanks to Myke for facilitating all things VF. I think we have really tried to make R a reality so at least we are fighting for what we all want.

Whats sad is Sega did'nt make a japanese console version. Remember back in the sega saturn era you can by imports and use the converter? Damn sega atleast give us this option.

Yup. Can ypu believe my imports of Fighting Vipers, Fighters Megamix and Last Bronx are still perfectly intact? Its a miracle , the way I keep things usually. I just rebought Fighting Vipers 2 and a Dreamcast stick for the old DC. But yeah man, you are absolutely right, back in the day, Arcade to Console ports were Sega's backbone. If they released a Dreamcast 2 in 2006 we wouldn't be in this mess. We'd have VF5R by like fall 2008. But hey , things will work out, and I still love my VF5 .
