Urgh, actually I shouldnt have said that.
Whats done is done though so yeah sega IS working on something else but market conditions will dictate if it ever gets released.

And now the cycle starts again. Oh, SEGA. Maybe we'll actually get this version?

Haha, whenever you post there's always something going on (usually in a good way [IMG] ).
I understand your anger over some posts here. Some people might act a bit like know-it-alls, but for me personally, the petition is something to have fun, something to do, to be active... other than playing VF5 on PS3 alone and with friends on weekends [IMG]

From what I understand, you (deliberately or not, doesn't matter) kinda spilled your beans.
I understand you'd like to avoid such questions, since you're not going to answer them anyway. Soooo... I won't ask what that is, however the thing you mentioned... is it still in Virtua Fighter franchise, or outside of it?

What's the point waiting 2 years for VF "5FT"/VF6. I'm not going through the same stuff twice. Not being able to play FT was really bad enough. If Sega skips a VF title for western regions again, I'm done with VF. I'm sick of waiting. I do this petiton because I don't want to quit VF, but Im not going to support Segas arbitrariness. This time is even worse than FT, 2 new characters and much more. Not releasing the game is like spitting on the fans, I'm not going to tolerate that. Bandai Namco & Capcom support their fans and the franchise. If they further improve the games and the balancing and sega lets me down again I have no problem switching. I already almost did, it's just because of stpROCK I'm still playing VF and the reason that Starcraft 2 is still not out. Sega could do a PC version of VF5r for linux, would cost almost nothing. I don't like consoles anyway, the new consoles are nothing than PC with smaller case. I'm still mad at Sega for the 360 VF5 Online version with no patch for the PS3. I really hate M$ and supporting them by buying the shitty 360 and paying that damn online fee is torture for me.

Welcome to last year. We already got an answer from the facebook campaign and the answer was something people on here dont want to listen to. Sega missed the cycle on the console release pattern that has been in place since the start and that release should have been last summer. Don't believe me? Check wikipedia for arcade and console releases and you'll see the pattern. When the pattern is broken, it means they are skipping over that version.

Why do you NEED vf5r btw? You have a great game in VF5 so why not just play that? I'm sure if the company had endless money, they would be happy to release VF5R for console but that just isn't the case.
Its the same reason there is no foreign market for arcade VF5r... Money. They cant make any money selling arcade units for the most part. 1 or 2 or 10, yeah they can sell. 5000, no way.

Why not just enjoy VF5 or some other game or even another activity *gasp* until the next VF comes out over here. Not only could you use your time more productively, but you will also be recharged when the next one comes out and ready to take on the world. [IMG]

The reason that no one plays VF5 is because everyone knows that it is an outdated version. Is VF5 a great game? Hell yes. No one disputes that. But is it outdated by a clearly superior version? Absolutely. And it's torturous for most people here to play VF5 Vanilla when they know that a far better version is being deliberately kept from them.

And didn't you say today that you haven't played VF5 in months? You are the same person who tried to purchase a 5R cabinet from AM2, correct? And if, by a divine miracle, they had let you purchase a 5R setup, you'd probably be regularly playing it right? And having regular gatherings? So don't you really fit into the group of people who don't play VF5 anymore but would readily play VF5R if it was available to you?

Do you think that if SFIII: Third Strike was only exclusive to Japanese arcades that there would be a bunch of people playing Second Impact outside of Japan? Or if Tekken 6BR was only in Japanese and Korean arcades and console Tekken 6 was 6 Vanilla, that the international community of Tekken would play as much?

Look at what happened with BlazBlue recently at EVO. BlazBlue CT, the first release of the game, is out on consoles. A new addition, BlazBlue CS, is only out in arcades. Despite BlazBlue CT having a locked spot at EVO, the BB community said that they didn't want to play the older game, because the latest arcade revision completely surpasses it.

VF5 is great but its grossly outdated by VF5R. So I don't see how you can possibly be surprised at all that no one, including yourself, plays the game anymore.
Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I'll spend my time enjoying other activities until VF6. Then come back to VF6, where a VF6R will come out in arcades a year later, and I'll never get to play any of the revisions for that iteration in the series. So AM2 will screw the international community three times in a row and we are supposed to come back for that?

Yeah the attitude of 'no 5R means I'm done with VF' is salty but it's how a sizable part of the community feels. I can't say I'm really enthused about Virtua Fighter 6 at all at this point.

With 4.39million Playstation 3s in Japan, since 28th Dec 2009, I'll be surprised if a Japanese console announcement for VF on Playstation 3 doesn't happen soon; it is becoming too big a market for Sega not to financially tap into.

Fortunately the Playstation 3 isn't region locked for ps3 games; so adding a game option for Japanese or English language would do the trick; like Nintendo's launch of the Gamecube in Japan with Smash Brothers Melee.

Most of use would be more than happy to import VF5R for console at greater expense. But then again it could prove divisive in the long run for sales of VF outside Japan.

Anyone who has either bought a 360 just for a better version of VF5, or still plays VF5b in anger; enraged by Sega's unwillingness to patch the game, wouldn't wish this feeling on their fellow 360 VF players if unofficially VF5R got a ps3 worldwide release, and 360 players got lumbered with VF5c.

It's outdated sure but if thats all you have access to, why not just play that.

Yep i'm not playing right now. I'm spending my time doing other things right now until the next version shows up for us. Yep, I did try to buy the game from AM2 last may and would still be playing if we got the game. Since then, I accepted that its just not gonna happen and moved on for the time being.

Who knows. People have been playing ST for years and I still like HF better than any of them. I would be glad to play vf3 if there was a scene for it. VF2 as well.

Live with the reality that is being a VF fan outside of japan. Personally some of us have been dealing it with since long before this or FT. VF2.1 was only available in arcades. We only got VF2 at home. What did we do? We played 2 of course knowing 2.1 was out in japan. VF3 TB before dreamcast. ALMOST all US arcades only had vf3 even though they had TB in japan. What did we do? We played VF3.

So what are some you guys gonna do if sega doesn't pay for you that toy that you want? ie- VF5r for console.

Continue to enjoy the VF that I currently have. [IMG] And if Sega does release VF5r even if it is pretty darn late...I will enjoy that game also!

    --

Anyways, since I had the joy of splitting the original thread into the messages that will be posted in the document to whatever else into this thread...some of you people just need to take a break from VFDC! Go enjoy life, stop being bitter or emo about the state that VF is in. Have dinner with your wife, your girlfriend...and if you don't have one go get yourself one! I am taking a break from VFDC now. :p

Easy I got a nice litte banlist for publishers. Currently including: EA, Ubisoft and Rare

Candidates for adittion Blizzard & Sega. Those on the list I do not buy from.

Good for you that you are so forgiving and can play outdated version of a game knowing there is a new one. Majority isn't and if sega keeps this up they won't need to publish VF ever again in the west.

Sega is selfdestructing really well. Started with the DC and now that they do not produce consoles anymore they screw up the games.

@EmpNovA About VF5 bein a great game. I can't share that VF5 sux in my opinion. It's newer than VF4Evo sure but compareing the 2 VF5 is more like the crippled offspring. VF5R is the real followup and I cannot accept that they wont release it.

Being a cripple myself I'm allowed to describe it like that ;P
At least I know my limitations. As I see it sega screwed up the game and won't release the followup because of the bad sales which they themselfs have produced and the players are the bad ones because they didn't buy it. Now the fans of the series have to suffer. Perfect selfdestruction in my opinion.

Not really Seidon. On it's own VF5 is a fantastic game. Better than SFIV, Tekken 6BR, BlazBlue, KOFXII, and any other recent FG in my opinion. I would rather play VF5 actively than any of those other games.

But compared to VF4FT and VF5R, VF5 is probably the weakest, and most disappointing entry into the VF series in my opinion. The distance between 4FT to VF5 was nothing more than a small step. Whereas from VF3 to VF4 it was a giant leap and a huge progression. If you just started playing the series at 5 then you can't really appreciate how much of a weak game 5 is compared to the other VF titles. And if you look at the differences between 5 and 5R, it's obvious that 5 was merely an incomplete package, a holdover until the true sequel to VF4FT, VF5R, was released.

On it's own VF5 is great. But I'd say that 4FT >>>> 5R >> 5. Saying VF5 sucks is a little extreme, but saying that VF5 is as great as the nearest two VF titles is, to me, just as extreme.

Either way. It's over. 5R is not coming to consoles no matter how hard the community tries.

I have an idea if the petition fails: We could collect prize money and make a competition crack the Sega Lindbergh and give the money to the one/ones that bypass the protection. So we can buy the crappy outdated hardware it uses for 50$, intstall linux on it and play VF5R that way.

The fact is, we do not know that a new revision is on its way. So given that, I would most certainly buy VF5R.

Let's assume your little slip means they're working on their next big arcade release, whatever it may be (VF5*, VF6, VF vs TK). What assurance do we have that we'll get this for the home console? What assurance do we have that this game will even be good? If one assumes it'll come to console, then what assurance do we have that it'll be released in a timely manner? Do I personally want to wait another 2+ years from today? Hell no.

The future isn't certain. I'm not asking for full disclosure into SEGA AM2's business plans. I'm not demanding they release VF5R for console. I'm not pretending I know better than them.

But what I do know is that if VF5R was released for console, I'd buy it in an instant. This is the message that I would like to send to SEGA. Yes, I understand that SEGA probably already know we want it from past campaigns. But it's probably worth reminding that this new initiative was started by Kamaage, and then reinforced by the SEGA representative he met with. The VFDC community, and the gaming community at large, have shown that they are more than happy to lend their support to Kamaage. Don't mistake this as demand-related tantrum.

In the meantime, I'll happily continue to play VF5 Ver.C.

More balancing (Sarah doesn't have to hang on the plank so much), less vanilla crap, like overpowered DMPKs. Plus simplified TEG to fight 0f throws. I would miss OM P personaly but im sure i could do without it for the better.
