No. The only risk they have taken for fans is re-releasing shenmue on xbox. Other than that, they have done nothing.

Jet Set Radio Future, Crazy Taxi, Spikeout, ToeJam and Earl on Xbox? Releasing the Yakuza seies overseas? Hiring Platinum Games after all their previous games failed to sell any copies and they got fired from Capcom? The recent Sega Rally game? House of the Dead Overkill and any of their Wii ports of older games? That terrible Golden Axe game?

    I could go on....

Jet Set Radio did well commercially. Yakuza did well overseas, why not port it. House of the dead always did well. Re-releasing games on the ps2 does not count as taking a risk for fans. Those games already existed and were widely known to be dreamcast classics. They do it for the money, nothing more. Another note releasing anything on live as DLC is definitely not taking a risk.

Yes, I'm not the Sega fan I used to be.

Yakuza didn't do well overseas. It's why it's taken so long to port Yakuza 3 over. Yakuza 1 bombed at retail, the only reason why Yakuza 2 even got a release was because Sony became lax about dubbing for Japanese games. Lets hope Yakuza 3 does well. It's being released in a tough month though :S
    March...

There's a rumour that Sega said they'd consider making Shenmue III exclusively for one console if that console manufacturer funded the production of the game.

They'll still take the risk there since it's not their money. If only someone exceedingly rich was interested in R...

Ok so Yakuza didn't sell well and they made it anyway? I am still not under the impression that they did this out of goodness of their heart. Maybe they realized the world is a bigger place, and hey guess what, if we do a NA/EU release, we can make some money.

I don't think the fans had anything to do with Spikeout, I remember I was one of those people who wanted a port as well. I attribute that to bad decision making. I see what Feck is trying to say, I just don't agree.

Panzer Dragoon Orta would have been a better example of a game that was a limited released(saga) on the saturn of all systems, and got a second chance on the xbox.

So long as they leave a name and location, then contributing via proxy is fine. MystD, and some others, have been doing that as well.

I have great news for you guys.

Kamaage mentioned about this site and how much we want vf5r on console on his blog, virtua dojo, and he called help to japanese players for us, foreign players.

I've heard about this from one of my japanese vf-friend just couple min ago in mixi. And when i checked virtua dojo, there was already many comments from japanese players which "I sent request to SEGA!" "I will help foreign players too!" "We must help them, let's send request to SEGA!" etc...
